    I'm a born and bred American female who fell into kpop in 2006....by accident.
    KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN was THEE SONG that caught my attention BIG TIME....never looked back, except to check out older songs, and found RAIN, I gave kpop a chance and was shocked by the talent....nothing as captivating in the Western scene for me...I do have my favorite Western singers and dancers, that will never change, but kpop picked me up and threw me down....I could not get enough.
    When "Down" came out, I screamed out loud, we had to wait for the military time to come and go, and Yu ho and Max dabbled in some solo stuff, and I just wished they would get together again for 10 years! They dropped this new album with no warning, I got so fricken excited I was beside myself.....
    So bro, check out these solo mvs that they put out before getting together again...
    YUNHO - "Drop" "Thank U"
    MAX - "Devil" "Chocolate"
    You are going to love these bro!
    So epic! Make a reaction video of these solos please!
    💙🌺

    These are great choices and yeah that’s their main sound like big epic type of songs; their group name actually translates to “Gods of the East”
    They spent most of their time as a group as a duo actually; only their first 4 years they were 5 then it was just them two

    Yeah cant wait for the Killing Voice. The vocals are unreal. 2nd gen was a special Gen, id love to see groups today implement some of the 2nd gen vibes in songs and MVs.

    Some of the shots in Rebel feel very Star Wars Drummond Kaas. There's a Japanese arena performance of Keep Your Head Down that is just epic and one of my favorite performances in all of KPop. You are so right about their songs having that type of feel.

    Keep Your Head Down (KYHD) - If you ever watch their reality shows or contents, the moments they make their entry on tv shows you can always hear this song in the background, seems like most of production tv crews made it like their OST entry shows 😂 ..
    Personality wise, i think both of them have this kind of "military brain" inside of them..excellent work ethics and loyal to SM (this part is T.T, yeah if you know, you know..)
    And I love how their music sound different compared to other groups, it is what kept me hostage as their fan in the first place, lol 😂
    Please give love to their solo projects too ❤

    The date on the video is the date that it received it's rating. idk if you've noticed, but in sk, they rate music videos just like they do movies. it'll be in the top corner (the 12 for this one if for 12 years old and up). this wasn't always a thing, it was either general audience, or it'd get slapped with a 19+ rating and not be allowed to be on tv. it was changed during the 3rd generation. there were some videos before that that were getting 19+s for some very tame stuff by western standards.

    For Rebel they used Carol of the Bells. Lol, this song immediately went on my Holiday Playlist. Also, 12/26 is their debut date, so that is probably why they marked it as that on the video.

    "Keep Your Head Down" is showing why TVXQ are Rising Gods of the East. I think this is one of their songs that fits their name well. And this song was designed to show just how powerful they were. It was meant to prove to everyone that even as a duo they would continue to be the Gods that their name represented. Ever since debut SM wanted TVXQ to have God-like status and Changmin and U-Know personify that with songs like this one. "Keep Your Head Down" was released at the beginning of 2011. It was their first comeback after splitting from JYJ -- the 3 members who left the group in 2010 -- and it's the performance that solidified them as two of the top artists in the industry. This song showed everyone just how capable they were as artists -- that they could continue as just the two of them and never miss a beat.They are one of the most powerful and well respected duos, and with more than 20 years in the industry, there is no doubt they have legendary status -- and they are still blowing people away with their talent.

    The phrase "Yunho Time" has also become famous within SM because Yunho loves monitoring the younger idols and trainees and giving feedback, because he's really that serious about performing. Red Velvet's Joy said one time, when Red Velvet went with TVXQ to watch NCT 127's first ever concert, when all the celebrities were backstage at the end to congratulate the boys, Yunho ended up lecturing NCT 127 about all his feedback, member per member, about the whole show, for a good 20-30 minutes. LMAO
    Also, Keep Your Head Down sounds even crazier and more majestic live. The raw talent to even pull off that kind of song and choreography is just amazing.

      @me_irah.1111 Před 2 měsíci +1

      Actually the phrase "Uknow time" was a time for Yunho show his individual performance (dance skill) when concert (group concert, not solo concert) in previous days.

    @nefarious21 Před 2 měsíci +2

    ah yea Keep Your Head Down was their first comeback as a duo after JYJ sued SM and split from the group. idk if changmin and yunho were involved in the writing, but you can definitely interpret the song as a shot at JYJ by SM; the lyrics are about a person angry at their ex for throwing away their relationship. song's a total banger tho.
    i think that's a good call by you too about the appeal of 2nd gen. it def had more stuff that you could see as just silly or hokey, but they committed so hard to it in all aspects, the music / MVs / styling / performance, that you couldn't help but appreciate it for what it was. cause even if the groups themselves thought what they were doing was weird or silly, they still absolutely went all out for it because that was their job as artists, and that was charming.

  • @milindawilson9175
    @milindawilson9175 Před 2 měsíci +4

    TVXQ's "Down" is their pre-release track and "Rebel" is their lead track from their 9th full-length Korean album, 20&2 -- 20 years and still 2 members strong -- which is a celebration of their 20th anniversary on Dec. 26. (Yep, they debuted the day after Christmas in 2003, that's why "Rebel" samples the melody from the Christmas song "Carol of the Bells.")
    If you think these MVs were good, you should check out their 2023 MAMA performance where they showcased "Down" even before the MV was released. You'll be able to hear Changmin hit those high notes live. They also had an epic collaboration stage with SM's newest boy group RIIZE, where they performed TVXQ's iconic song "Rising Sun."
    You also need to see them perform "Rebel" with the choreography live. You think it looks crazy in the MV, but they actually do most of that all live as well.
    And you definitely need to check out their Killing Voice performance. Killing Voice was pretty much made for SM vocalists and Changmin and U-Know are one of the best examples of that. (You'll also discover that Changmin isn't the only one with high notes in "Rebel," the first high note is actually sung by U-Know.)
    You're right, TVXQ are actually pretty futuristic when it comes to most of their MV concepts, and that includes their solo work. Just consider Changmin's solo "Devil" MV or U-Know's most recent solo comeback, "Nexus Reality Show" concept teaser video, for example.. Or even TVXQ's "Catch Me" or "Humanoids" MVs, among many others.
    As Changmin and U-Know have said, "Rebel" talks about the path that TVXQ has taken and suggests a direction to move forward. It contains the message that "the true rebel of an era is not just a simple opposition to existing ideas, but a person who pushes his beliefs without being shaken." In other words they are letting us know that they aren't going to stand still, even after 20 years they still plan to keep pushing boundaries and to create even bigger and better things in their careers, etc. They will continue to grow and evolve and show us why they continue to be the Rising Gods of the East.
    U-Know is known for his passion and intensity. If you think he was hitting it hard in their MVs, just wait until you see him perform live. There is almost no one in the Kpop industry that is more passionate than him when it comes to singing and dancing, and believe it or not, be rachetes it up even more when he is performing live. You know how SHINee's Minho is known for his passion for sports and games and life in general? Well it's a running joke in the Kpop industry that Minho, U-Know and Siwon from Super Junior make up the holy trinity of passion within SM -- they are so convicted and intense that if they hang out together no one can compete with them. LOL ;)
    Also U-Know was/is the main dancer of TVXQ and he is known for his dancing. He is considered one of the top dancers in Kpop, so dance breaks are his thing, which is why his parts are often so dance-centric. The more you get into TVXQ and U-know, you will see that intense, powerful dance moves are what he does. If a normal dancer puts 110% into a dance move, U-know uses 200%.
    And although Changmin is always denying the fact that he is a good dancer, he can hold his own against U-Know, which proves he's just being modest. Even as a duo they have always had really unique and complex choreography that sets them apart from everyone else.
    You really need to get to know U-know and Changmin off stage to truly understand their personalities and their unique dynamic as a duo. Changmin and U-Know couldn't be more different personality-wise, and yet, they have been together for so long that they can practically read each others' minds without having to say anything.

    Hello, I love your reactions, but Keep Your Head Down, is a song that was made to give a new start as a group, since they had finished the concerts in Japan at TOKIO DOME, and after the break they were going to return with this song the 5 members, that's why at the beginning they say "this is the return of the king", but when everything was already recorded and almost ready to return, the 3 members sued the company, so they only return as a duo, but they manage to record all the songs again as a duet, so they return in a SMTOWN, in 2012 and not in 2011 as planned. me too I would like you to react to JYJ, who are the three members who are leaving the company☺️🙂😁, thank you😊😊
