    We started the good and the beautiful this last year for preschool and absolutely love it. I had never even thought about homeschooling. I'm so grateful to have found this community of fellow slow living, Christian mamas. I had a terrible public school experience. I was actually feeling extremely anxious as my little ones get older. My oldest is 4 and I just want quality time.

    We love Math w Confidence and All About Reading. Both are solid programs, setting a really good foundation for math and reading. Also, they are fun for my son, and honestly, fun for me to teach.

    You cant continue to teach your children after kindegarden because you dont have the expertice to do so. Its allrigth the first three or four years, but when they are getting older they need people who have a proper teaching education. If you want to homeschool, you should at least let your children take the standardized tests so you know where they are compared to children in public schools. Otherwise you do your children a great disservice. They will really struggle with higher education if they dont have the right foundation.

    • @BethanyFontaine
      @BethanyFontaine  Před rokem +6

      I believe you need to give your child a strong educational foundation and I believe that parents who are committed to their children’s education can do this. I am schooling my children to work towards getting a high school diploma which is important. Parents can get help from teachers for tougher subjects as they grow. It’s possible! 🙂

      This is actually a huge misconception. Homeschooling now is easier than ever and lots of the curriculum used is actually more advanced than standard school. Most homeschool curriculum is open and go which makes it easy to teach not to mention all of the resources they offer. ;) If you think back to your school years, your teachers were reading out of a book and providing tests that were prepared from the state.

    • @ggirls352
      @ggirls352 Před rokem +2

      That's what "shared responsibility" is that she is doing. A teacher teaches the core subjects. It's basically part time school, not home school.

    • @familyunity70

      I wonder why home educated children out perform public school children academically. I wonder why? I mean, parents don’t have the educational backbone to teach and yet the kids are well equipped. Children receive one-on-one instruction, which is definitely not an advantage. I mean it’s way better to have one teacher teach a group of 25+ students with constant interruptions (that’s quality education right there). Meanwhile home educated children receive one-on-one tutoring from private tutors, music, volunteering opportunities, attend college earlier, exposed to a lot more socialization from various age groups but public school is the way to go, right? (I’m being sarcastic here) 😂 I wonder 💭 why so many universities and colleges prefer home schooled children now and days, maybe because they are well prepared by working independently, organized, plan ahead, and more mature. Meanwhile many in Chicago and other states have a lot of public school children destroying the community. It’s time to wake up. “Home Educators” make this world a better place, period.

    I am using Logos curriculum. We almost went wish Classical Conversations, but with moving we weren’t sure where we’d be. CC is partially co-op based with weekly meeting. I love the classical education model because it’s a private school level of education, very book heavy, and it teaches your child how to learn information, and speak it persuasively. I used to love unschooling and charlotte mason too because it’s very nature and literature based. I noticed those have a friendlier atmosphere and good pace for your child too. 🌼🪺🌱
