My Basic Journal Decorating

- When I create a journal it's a naked journal, in other words the pages are not embellished in any way. I like to embellish pages as I use a journal and then it takes on a unique character. That's just my preference, there are beautifully pre-decorated journals out there for sale but when the journal is for my personal use this is just how I like to record events and memories.

I have such a hard time keeping pages blank! I find myself thinking about what I want to pull out to decorate each page! Alison if you’re struggling may I suggest finding a video of a mixed media piece you like and then replicate it with your own supplies, after creating a few of these you will gain confidence and start to discover your own style.

My goodness! You are soooooo organised! I do pre-make a few things, but then 'fret' when they haven't got a 'home'. I think I'm learning that having some 'generic' bits and bobs suits me, but I also like creating to a theme - which means I have to wait until I know what I doing! 😊🧡💚🤎
Fortunately organisation and preparation are the way my brain is wired.
@@CeriGriffiths My brain is like a switch board. I plug in to one thing and focus on that, and then I'll plug in to something completely different, and focus on that. 😊 Occasionally, I get my wires crossed, with some interesting results. 🙃

Btw. Mark Montano recently used gel papers to make some cute paper lanterns for decorating string lights. He also love the gellie printing. Not sure if you have ever watched his you tube.
Laura you’re right I try to not make butterfly things but most of the time they’re just perfect for the project at hand .

Ceri....I so enjoy your videos and I always learn something from them. I'm relatively new to junk journaling and I really struggle with the whole concept. I can't seem to wrap my mind around the whole ephemera thing and what to put where? and does it match? And does it have a purpose? I don't know maybe it's a right brain thing? Anyway I seem to make the process way more difficult and complicated than it needs to be. You make it look so easy and uncomplicated. Thanks for sharing your art!
Sandy I think it’s important to state that there are no rules only preferences, I create and use my ephemera so that it’s pleasing to my eye, if you’re working to a theme some people find that easier. When I make a journal for myself I leave all of the page blank and only add ephemera as I’m writing in the journal.

I liked this walk through of decorating a naked journal. It gave me some new ideas. I really like your work. Is your purpose for leaving the sections of blank pages be for journaling or for adding things from your trip? Or a bit of both?

Hello Ceri, just found you and really loved and enjoyed your first ever gelli canvas adventure done back in september. In the video you used a color wheel with cutouts. Is it possible to buy it or did you make it? Your videos are informational and very entertaining. I'm a new fan! Thanks
Linda I purchased the colour wheel with holes in, I believe it is made for quilters, I’m not in the UK at the moment as I’m travelling but I think it’s by a company called sew easy.
Garden sails can be both male and female. They don't have to have another snail to reproduce. Don't ask me why I remember that from biology. Probably because I remember stepping on a snail in by bare feet. The summer before, I attended my biology class. That was over 50 years ago.😮
