I have been in New York about 7 or 8 times. The last time we spent 5 days there. We stayed with my sister in law who lives in Jersey. Itcwas in December. We took a carriage ride in Central park., toured St Patrick's church, went to Bryant Park Christmas market, toured Ellis island, saw the tree, visited H and M, Macys Saks, saw a Rockette matinee, wentvto the large toy store, visited the Hershey store, ate at a deli, pizza, and Tavern on the Greene. Loved it.

Well, yeah, the soul of the City, as you say, is missing but I gotta tell you, the soul was getting pretty rotten right before the pandemic hit (The sad girl begging for cash for weed, as an example - The world is going through a major reset, the end result being unknown, and this girl is only concerned with getting high instead of reassessing her priorities ) so I'm not so sure it is a total loss. Hopefully, and this is by no means a sure thing - in fact, I would bet against it - if NY ever "comes back", it comes back with a more mature outlook on things. Our values were getting awfully screwed up there. I'm just saying. You can't "come back" if you've never left in the first place.

I took exactly the same route a couple of weeks ago that you took in the vid, Cash. I thought it was depressing. Right now, there's no energy there. (But LOVE the lack of crowds.)
But New York City is WAY more than just Manhattan. I've been learning that for 26 years since moving from where I grew up (Manhattan) to live in Brooklyn. Other parts of New York are getting through this time a bit better. Take a walk through Prospect Park, or along the waterfront in Dumbo/Brooklyn Heights and you won't get the same apocalypse feeling you get in Manhattan. There's still A LOT of life here!

Your tour is exactly what we did the first day we were there: Macy's, Bryant Park, the tree, and I have pictures of it all on my fb page. I kept stopping the video to compare to the picture, then and now. The difference in the amount of people is unbelievable. The crowds everywhere were amazing--we loved it, she loved it. I know you are trying to put a positive spin on things by saying "no lines", this is the time to come and see without the crowds, but my heart hurts for NYC and for all the people suffering so much in so many ways because of this pandemic. I hope to someday soon return to the city and will be absolutely joyous when it again takes me a half hour to get from the 7th ave entrance of Macy's to the Broadway entrance. Love your videos, they keep me connected NYC. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

Think I’ll head to 5th Wednesday or Thursday after it snows. The area always looks great right after a snow event before the sludge sets in. Looks like a perfect opportunity to see it without all the crowds, tourists, police queues and dump truck barriers. Thanks for the video update. I think by March things will be looking up for real.

For me, a NYC girl, this is shocking to see. Normally this time of year all those sites would be PACKED LIKE SARDINES. Macy's especially, since it's the most accessible of old school department stores and people would be doing their higher end shopping there. All the winter tourists- not just from overseas but from across the country- are gone. But businesses are plowing ahead and i am rooting for them. Stay safe & healthy, Cash.
