- On August 16th, 1977, Elvis Presley died at his Memphis home at the age of 42 years old. In this episode, we’re going to show you a video reconstruction of Elvis Presley's death scene. You'll also learn why Elvis Presley died and what caused Elvis's death.
Elvis’s drug addiction had been developing since early 1960's. That’s when he started abusing substances to cope with an exhaustive concert schedule. Elvis’s death was similar to the deaths of Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger - we had reviewed their cases in previous episodes.

I had no idea he was only 42. That is extremely young. As a child I always thought 40s is old. Now at the age of 35, I feel there is still so much to life, so much to experience. It’s tragic when one’s life is cut short

It’s shocking how similar the end of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson’s life was. They’re death was eerily similar. I think it shows how toxic fame is. They were and are both stars, but it can do so much to your physical and mental health. May they Rest In Peace.
It wasnt just fame the people who were there managers where exploiting them. Why did they have to take so many concerts? Also they could of put in the contracts at least 3 months of rest for them per year and a limiting number of concerts per week. At the end of the day their labels/managers were stupid they could of gotten more money if they hadn't exploited them to such an extant.
I think that too. It's remarkable when you look at how both died, the similarities are are a little creepy.
And they were in-laws too. The connection was so interesting.

It's really sad how great he was and he is only remembered in videos like this for the last 4 years when he was sick. He was the first superstar. There was no road map for him. He didn't drink. Had many serious health issues and a doctor who fed him prescription meds till the death of him.

He died 23 years before I was born, but he is definitely one of the most famous icons from the 20th century and his legacy still lasts with us in this generation. His daughter just died from a heart attack last month. RIP Lisa Marie Presley. Now he and his daughter are reunited.

I was shocked myself when I found out how old he was. If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought he was in his 50s by how he looked carrying all that weight.
It is sad.
He didn't deserve to die young.
Personally, I don't think it was just the drugs that killed Elvis. It was Colonal Tom Parker who put him in serious debt and setting up grueling concert tours. If that wasn't bad enough then his personal physician Dr. Nick prescribed more medication than he was supposed to.

Not to sound funny or anything, but I always wondered why people back then always talked about Elvis dying on the toilet. I was a kid back in the 90s when I first heard about it. I even remember comedians back then making jokes about it, which is sad and messed up by the way. Sad and cruel way to go, but at least he lived a great life though. Not many people accomplish even half the things he did in those 42 years.
And you believe this rumor, Elvis died on the toilet? Elvis didn't die on the toilet, he was found on the floor, so many stories are said about his death, even the people who were there at the death scene can't get their story straight. Before investigators arrived at the death scene, everything in the bathroom was cleaned up and all the drugs disappeared from the death scene and his bed was made. Elvis had a very large bathroom. So big that it had an antechamber inside within which was a fully equipped woman’s washroom. In his own facilities, among other things, was a large, throne-like, reading chair. He was sitting on the chair to read, and fell to the ground next to the toilet.

Dr. Nick wasn't the only doctor prescribing drugs to Elvis, Elvis had other doctors from Memphis, LA, Las Vegas who prescribed drugs for him.

At 36 I never really listened to his music, I knew he was a big deal back then, but aside from occasionally listening to Dire Straits - "calling Elvis" song, never really thought about him much. I just saw the new movie, and at the end - he was out of shape, drugged out and on the verge of death, he performed unchained melody and I was blown away, he was an incredible singer.
Fun fact: Lisa Marie Presley (Elvis's daughter) actually married Michael Jackson!!! But sadly they didn't stay together for very long. (5:16 - 5:19)

I was born in 1961. I remember growing up listening to Elvis records and watching his many movies. I was 16 years old in 1977 the year Elvis died. Everyone was so shocked by his death. No one in the general public realized back then that Elvis had a drug addiction problem. He always spoke negative of drugs.

My favorite Elvis Presley song was jailhouse rock and my second favorite song is falling in love my dad love this song and played that at him and my mom’s wedding
You forgot to mention he had around 4 months worth of stool in him, from all the drugs as well. Key part because he was constipated from them. Hence why he was in the bathroom, yes that was not a main cause but definitely a contributing factor in his death. I’m actually surprised he wasn’t vomiting the impacted stool, for sure a severe bowl obstruction.

He overdosed on fentanyl an opiate painkiller 50 times stronger than morphine and it was found in some fake percocet pills remaining he was taking them for his hip problem from years of wearing high heels and dancing on them but he didn't as a jehovas witness believe in certain surgery

And oh I used to be addicted to dilaudid too. When I was going through cancer I needed it for pain relief. I had it in injection form and was injected 5 times daily. I relied on it to fall asleep because of its drowsiness side effects. But thankfully I got rid of it and can finally fall asleep normally again.
