    One suggestion on the clear bases. Before you attach the model take some of that fine sandpaper and sand the edges of the base. Clean off that gloss on the edge. REALLY makes a difference when you put the clear base down on terrain. Try it and see if you like it! Doesn't take much time but wow what a difference.

    Great video! Over the past few years, this has become my go to method of painting infantry-sized models. Citadel Contrasts and Army Painter Speed paints have been a game changer for me. The concept of putting transparent colors over a Zenithal base is so powerful and allows you to paint armies so much faster than using traditional paints, with seperate shades and highlight steps. Vince Vinturella is also a huge fan of this method, and he did a number of tutorials a while back for using dry brush Zenithal and transparencies, pretty much identical to what you are doing here. Awesome stuff!

    Good results! I gotta say though, you sure picked almost all the techniques people get contentious about! LoL! Super gluing the models to your painting holder instead of using sticky tack, sanding after painting, and using clear bases. The only one you didn't do was paint on sprue! 😆
    Good work! Maybe next time say more detail about what you are doing to the model. I like step by step stuff, so there may be more folks that are the same way. Have a good one!

    About "metallic speedpaint", Marco Frissoni made some "Metallic Contrast" by mixing ink, medium and Vallejo Metal Color Silver if i recall (would have to check for the exact recipe, not at my laptop the whole day so can't check now), i'm pretty sure the same could be done using Speedpaint Medium, or maybe just mixing a Speedpaint with the silver. Alternatively both Contrast and Speedpaints look great over a silver

    • @CrimsonKightsOfBaal
      @CrimsonKightsOfBaal Před rokem +1

      It does work on larger scale builds. It tends to be easier with a airbrush or rattle can and often is referred to as Zenithal Highlighting. It is possible to do it by brush but takes more time and the model needs a lot of raised areas in order to do it by brush and get enough contrast to stand out. It's a very nice technique to speed thing up massively and if you want to add that extra layer of detail you can always give a try to edge highlighting just to put that extra layer of detail.

    • @andrevandervlies5700

      @nekrataali Před rokem

      @@andrevandervlies5700 There's not really a difference between MH's technique here and zenithal highlighting. By drybrushing the entire model, it's basically showing the model in a brighter environment, but there's still light coming from specific directions.

      I can't tell you what primer was use but if you dry brush a light grey or white in a downward motion from above (or wherever you want your light source to be coming from) and it will catch on the raised surfaces giving you a natural shade and your recesses will remain dark and it will do a lot of heavy lifting for you. Your contrast paint being translucent with show the pre shading through and this is how you get such amazing results.
