    It’s exciting to see companies finally implementing RTK; its been out for a long time. The next gen is rtk in the cloud. The key advantage is battery use is reduced and you don’t need a local RTK receiver. For commercial applications I could actually even see value is cutting edge gps solving in the cloud. This is newer technology but has a massive beneficial impact in reducing the battery load by the gps receiver. When you want a mower that can cover lots of acreage, every milliamp matters.

    I have about 1.5 acre of total lawn scattered with numerous obstacles and distributed in parcels divided by gravel drive around a tall building. Most of the lawn is sloping and in places this is up to 70%. There are also overhanging trees including a sweet chestnut that drops twigs and chestnut pods. In spring I allow specific areas to grow daffodils, primroses and snow drops; these meadow areas are mowed in by mid July. Thus I need an AWD drive mower with rough cut capability, the ability to cease cutting whilst traversing between lawns and a dynamically configurable location system that is not reliant on a single EPOS antenna. I am still waiting for a product that meets my aspiration!

      @marquisdemoo It sounds like you are going to need a wireless AWD unit to successfully manage this space. The Luba from Mammotion might be a great fit for you. Not only does it check the aforementioned boxes, but it also will hopefully feature fully customizable mapping software with integrated transport path mapping (no spinning blades) and multi zone cutting assignments with stay out zones. We are still extensively testing the capabilities of this product but we have been very pleased with the results that we have seen so far!

      True edge cutting is a bit of a challenge to build into an autonomous system mainly because of safety/liability concerns.

    My two cents regarding these different technologies in the upcoming future is that the wired systems will prevail in the lower budget systems, since it is a cheaper way to construct the robots,
    Then we will have the vision/ai in the midrange to handle smaller to midsize lawns and then RTK for the large to super large lawns/fields due to the increased costs of the RTK tech.

    • @pieebobeg
      @pieebobeg Před rokem

      @@Quebecvapor ofc, sooner or later wireless boundry tech will be at par with the wired both stability wise and price wise. But the fact is, sensor/software wise the wired system will always be easier to produce, less points of failure in the logic compared to vision-AI, radar and rtk.
      Comparing Wi-fi and Cat* cable networking, we have many cheap and many fast wi-fi networks today, but a wired setup is maybe not the easiest to install/retro-fit but it's still the most reliable of the two.

    • @AutmowRoboticMowing
      @AutmowRoboticMowing  Před rokem

Husqvarna is going to run off of a localized RTK reference station whereas Kress will look to access a network of antennas that are permanently installed in multiple locations with much broader range. With Husqvarna's new 450XH EPOS, will they be bringing pattern mowing to that unit as well, similar to the 550? Also, what's the difference between their 450XH EPOS and 550H EPOS? Only difference I see is the 550H has "wheel brushes" and is $900 less (and gets pattern mowing at some point?) Thx, and great vid!

    • @AutmowRoboticMowing
      @AutmowRoboticMowing  Před rokem

      Great question! The other big difference is that the 550 will have the ability to be retrofitted with a 5 blade cutting disc and will eventually be outfitted with them out of the box. Both mowers with the reference station are now the same price. You need to order the reference station separately on the 550 which costs $900. The 550 is pattern cut capable after a firmware update. Very happy to see that.
