Well I mean if your trusted friend was killed and a shapeshifting monster replaced her for a year and forced you to never be able to remember the true looks, voice, and behaviors of said friend and then a monster who worked with the one who imitated your friend mentioned it you'd probably be pretty angry too, honestly just thinking about it got me a bit angry too, and sad for sasha :(

Ok, but for real, I feel so sorry for Alfred. He seemed like such a nice fellow, the origin of company name was so adorable in a tragic way, and the part about him pretending to be contacting "Hope" was peak relatable.
Also, I've been driven out of an internet community once, because it started collecting toxic people, who ended up declaring me an enemy, despite me having been there longer than them. It sucks to watch something you once considered "yours" be poisoned from the inside until it's you who has to leave.

Love the static sound when Jon is compelling someone, and it gets more intense when they don’t want to tell
someone in the dorm next to mine laughed after daisy stopped shooting, and after binging these for a solid few hours i can safely say the sound of human laughter got me to jump
I love how I always recognize half the people who comment on each episode, y'all are keeping me sane while listening to these (and also a large part of the reason why I understand anything going on)

I thought I was the only one.
I will admit though, it surprises me how few of the commentors know that it’s a very popular podcast that also happens to be posted on youtube rather than a niche, unloved youtube series with not enough views. Not to mean any offense, but they get like 4 million downloads a year total or thereabouts.

Being visited by any of these things must suck, but it feels extra disrespectful for the powers to roll up, steal the poor guy's name and business, and then run the business into the ground. If they weren't eldritch abominations, I'd call them rude.

How Sarah Baldwin talks about how The Trophy Room isn't a significant place, but there are those who make it one, is basically just describing a church.

I'm delightfully surprised to find that this podcast is just continuing to pick up momentum as it goes along, but I'm worried because now I'm starting to binge-listen and will eventually run out of old material and be forced to wait for new ones 😭

i love how corrupted jon is getting. he couldnt even wait to go back to the institute, he just stayed at the place he broke into to record it as if he couldnt wait a single minute
"all the bite marks appeared to be coming from the inside going out" is another one of those amazing lines. Great storytelling, extremely creepy.
What's especially sad about Alfred Breekon's fate is that if he'd only brought the box along with him, the Institute could have kept it in Artefact Storage, safely away from him. On the other hand, the Delivery Men probably would have found some other way to get to him if they wanted to.

Anyone else found this statement kinda humorous? It had a definite Pratchett/Johannes Cabal vibe to me that the universe just creates two vaguely Russian/Cockney demons when you give an unfitting name to your delivery company. That whole bizarre bureaucracy angle.

I feel a disproportionate amount of joy that I am not the only one who's brain went straight to Cabal. This whole series just feels like a Cabal book!!

In case you're still wondering, they are conciously skinned and overall dissected. The skin and some other parts are then used to make puppets appear more human with those puppets coming alive as part of The Stranger.

jons really making use of his powers now, it's kinda satisfying. horrible how the not!them keep mocking him about sasha though. Also breeken and hope just walking into a guys business and stealing it by mocking him is funnier then it should be, poor alfred didn't deserve it
if you listen closely while jon is reading out the statement in the depot, you can hear sth like vehicles move past in the background. its so subtle but i think thats a lovely lil detail to add

Jon's been utilizing the powers given to him [too much] I think.
I have a vibe telling me that these [abilities] gets "exhausted" too for plot purposes * W *
I remember thinking, when I was a child, I would never use my superpowers often. Cause maybe, it would not feel special anymore.
My theory from this episode and what we know so far:
I didn't understand the bite phrase, if someone could explain it to me, that would be great thank you.
As John rightfully mentioned, the russian of the delivery guys could be because they were originally russian or because that was the last thing they were before they became Breekon and Hope. But I believe now that they are indeed a part of the Stranger, like Megan (the ringmaster). With previous episodes, I believe now that any person who the witnesses can't remember to describe, any person that seemed wrong etc, they are all part of the Stranger, and because of that either they had that feel of not fully human or, just like a stranger on the street, their details are faded 'cause they don't stay on memory. So, the guys who would make the deals about the box in the "do not open" episode but also the episode in which one cop goes inside the box, Breekon and Hope and any other person who might have been forgotten how they looked like from our witnesses are part of the Stranger. And probably the Not!Them creature as well is a manifestation of the Stranger.
There are alot of mysterious boxes in this series, so I'm starting to thing if maybe the boxes are like the books, another manifestation of the entities. I mean, some of the books are portals as well, so who knows. It'll be interesting to find out.
A few months later, but Jon found Alfred Breekon's body, and it had bitemarks from something (or somethings) chewing their way out; presumably related to the "goodbye" box one horrifying way or another.
I can hear it. The Knowing. The tape...it has background sound.

Second time listener after finishing the series. It struck me as odd on my first listen and still is fascinating to me that Breekon and Hope was originally run by just one man making an inside joke about his hopes for a family, but when these two eerie delivery men showed up, it ended up referring to a duo like any stranger would assume. The lie he was too awkward to dispute became the truth.

It seems like Sarah was just hanging around to see if they knew about the skin. When she realized they didn't know about it it sounds like she made her escape and Daisy shot her in the process.
