Ding Liren joins in the pre-game analysis for the first time | Freestyle chess

  • Every time a position is announced for Chess960, the players get 10 minutes to figure out what they would like to play. They can discuss with other players who have the same colour as them. It was position 607 out of 960 positions. Generally Ding Liren has preferred to be on his own. But this was the first time that he sat down for analysis with Levon Aronian. Unfortunately the position arranged was the wrong one. Check out how all of this unfolded and how all the other players analyzed in this video.

@@andresvanpelt4582 If his mum wants to be there then that's fine. But I just think it's a problem if he can't cope with independence and if he is needing his mum or dad too much to help him out with social skills and stuff. If he is an independent and responsible man who doesn't need his parents to help him out all the time then I have no issue with that...I was just worried whether his mental growth and independence and responsibility level is being stunted perhaps because his mum and dad are ordering him around a lot and because he might be very poor at social skills. I might be wrong. Ding Liren seems like a good guy, I just hope his parents aren't coddling him too much because he needs to be an independent and responsible man now. For example, I remember this tournament where the top players came. Alireza came in with his coach or friend or something, Magnus came with his new girlfriend, Nordibek (sorry if I spelt his name wrongly) came on his own (and he is much younger than Ding, I think), and I think Ding was the only one who came with his mum to the tournament. It looked a bit odd to see a grown man going to a tournament with his mum, when all the other players didn't come along with their parents, but like I said, maybe it's not Ding's fault and maybe the parents are being too clingy or maybe there is nothing wrong with Ding's mum being around him often.
