  • Metalcore masterminds ERRA have returned with their latest release "Neon"-a record that is a beautiful as it is brutal. Vocalist/guitarist Jesse Cash and bassist Conor Heese recently caught up with APTV to discuss the earnest and literal motif of the record and the unlikely inspirations that help the band build their vibe.
If you've been jamming "Disarray" and "Valhalla" non-stop, this is a perfect companion to the record. Go Behind The Streams and learn all about the nitpicking that helped create one of 2018's most complex metal records.
    "NEON" is available now!

I got into ERRA recently, I struggled with their earlier stuff, but it slowly grew on me only about one month before Neon came out. This new album has blown me away, definitely one of my top acts of the last 12 months.

I think augment and impulse were cohesive as well. All the songs from erra's albums fit together. Also the theme in neon is like a very realistic topic while in the old albums it was the question about the big thing beyond humanity.
Edit: Guys!!!! No!! It does not need to be darker. This one is quite dark but darkness is not erra to me! Erra was a questioning band to find answers about things that are more important than everdays life!!

After listening to their entire discography a whole bunch of times (including Neon at this point), I can honestly say that this is their most cohesive and well put together record from a fan perspective. It isn't as heavy as Augment, and may not be quite as catchy as Drift, but this album masters what makes ERRA great. If you enjoy ERRA's desire to create emotional metal with deep layering, you'll absolutely adore this record like I have. Been listening non-stop since it dropped. Thank you boys for another outstanding body of work to jam to.

IN MY OPINION NEON IS THE 2ND BEST METAL/METALCORE ALBUM OF 2018 AND THAT'S SAYING A LOT. HONESTLY GREY HAVEN'S EMPTY BLACK ALBUM IS A GAME CHANGER AND THE BEST METALCORE ALBUM IN SEVERAL YEARS, BUT FOR ME ERRA IS BECOMING ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS AND I THINK I LISTENED TO GHOSTS OF NOTHING LIKE 10 TIMES IN A ROW AND IS MY FAVORITE TRACK ON NEON. MY 3RD FAVORITE ALBUM OF 2018 AND THE BEST COMEBACK OF 2018 (SORRY, FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS) IS BLEEDING THROUGH AND THEIR NEW ALBUM LOVE WILL KILL ALL. COINCIDENTLY FTFD AND BLEEDING THROUGH HAVE BOTH EXPERIENCED CRAZY TOUR BUS ACCIDENTS WHICH LUCKILY RESULTED IN NO CASUALTIES BUT MAYBE THESE EXPERIENCES HAVE MADE BOTH BANDS STRONGER AND BETTER THAN EVER. METAL IS NOT DEAD IN 2018, JUST THE BIG CROSS-COUNTRY FESTIVALS LIKE OZZFEST, MAYHEM, AND EVEN WARPED, WHICH I MISS ALL 3 DEARLY.

Gave the record a listen through and it's my least favorite from all their work. I felt like the songs were too similar sounding, nothing really stands out. There were a couple vocal melodies and heavy parts that stood out slightly, but this album seems lazy for an ERRA record. Jessie can definitely do much better guitar work and the lyrics in general could be more in depth and thought provoking. Not terrible, but I definitely expect more from ERRA.
