King's College College He was Despised and Rejected Mezzo-soprano: Jennifer Johnston [2019][Handel]

Dr. Stephen Cleobury CBE, director of music at King’s College, Cambridge, who retired yesterday (June 26, 2019) is named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, published June 7, 2019. He is awarded a knighthood for services to choral music. He received his Knighthood from Her Majesty the Queen on 10 October and died on St Cecilia's Day, 22 November 2019, after a long battle with cancer barely a month later.

Grief is learning that Dr Cleobury has retired. I have never admired any living human more -- and amazingly from 5300 miles away. He will never truly know his contribution to humanity. God spoke through his music more than by the spoken word of any clergyman or woman. Fortunately that will continue for some time to come.

I totally agree. Dr. Cleobury, is in my opinion, the best choir director in the world. I had the pleasure of sitting in on a master class he conducted in New Hampshire in the USA many years ago. I was also sad when I heard about his retirement, but I had expected it was coming at some point given his age.

Thanks for the question @Brook Eggleston. Sir Stephen Cleobury is so styled on the announcement of his inclusion in the Queen's Birthday Honours List (June 7, 2019). However, his actual receiving ceremony, known as his investiture, will take place sometime in the future at one of around 30 such ceremonies during the year. These are hosted at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle among other Royal residences, and are presided over by The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and occasionally The Princess Royal.
As soon as we know the details of Sir Stephen's investiture, we will publish it on the channel.
