Walking through Muswell Hill a few years ago an obviously late for school Sean Lock came running towards me with his children running in front of him....we made eye contact ...feeling the need to say something...say anything....I stated the obvious, as we often do when engaging in small talk. ...late fir school Sean? I quipt.
...as he slowed and passed by and with deadpan delivery, he responded...."no! ....I often chase random children through London!"....keeps me fit, and well, they seem to enjoy it.
No need to fact check that, it absolutely happened.
@@logdog6762 ...I was working on a building site at the bottom of the hill on which planet organic is situated, it was there, just past the planet that we had our brief encounter. It was good natured sarcasm and absolutely made my day.
.....The only other time a famous person spoke to me was in the early nineties, Richard Digence told me to fu#k off after I'd requested he sing us a song whilst we were both stuck in the North bound traffic for the Dartford tolls. He was laughing when he said it so I'm sure he only half ment it.

Really? I got the impression that he shied away from going in for the kill, on his good/bad sexism bit, because he sensed the crowd wasn’t reacting as well as they might: hence why he went on the tangent about the set as a transition to changing the subject. He’s a master stand-up after all.

@@michaeljames4904 how is that not treading the line well? He could tell the audience wasn't really going for it, so he moved on. He's tailoring it to that audience, not for where people on CZcams think it should be.
@@robotshaveiteasy9459 He shied from the line, he didn’t tread it, he tested and backed off, because I suspect the crowd was more female heavy than he expected.
It’s all perfectly understandable though, the guy may be one of the best stand-ups in the country, and I’ve seen him live decades back, but the near entirety of his income is dependent on his gig at the most Wokist and right-on broadcast TV channel we have. Television pays infinitely more than live gigs unless your packing out somewhere like the Apollo night after night.
It’s clear to me, at least, he wants to push the social envelope with his material and be braver, but thought better, the man’s ridiculously versatile though, as his earliest stuff was ridiculously surreal and inventive. Comedy though is being asphyxiated by contemporary social politics and it would have been good to see one of its biggest guns be a tad more courageous against that tide. He calculated and thought better of doing so.
Knowing him I bet you he had an idea it was about to be his time so he just said screw it, and decided to just say whatever he wanted for his last show. Absolute legend
