There's been some developments since, unlocking sets virtually for free is a bit more complicated now. But, there's a lot more you can unlock by employing the right strategy!
So it's time for a rehash. I'll tell you exactly how you can unlock Black Lion Skin Collections virtually for free, what tools to use, and more importantly, what pitfalls to avoid!
If you do this right, you could be raking in a ton of skins, and Achievement Points, without really breaking the bank, or having to purchase Black Lion Chest Keys, thus saving your precious gems to spend on other things on the gem store! This also avoids the randomness of the loot boxes, I mean Black Lion Chests!

Clarification: Black Lion weapons are not introduced through the black lion chest. They are released and made available at first through the Black Lion Weapon Specialist vendor near every trading post agent in major cities. You can buy them for 1 claim ticket when they come out and as new weapon sets are released the previous ones will go up in price by one ticket (up to a max of 3). They will end up cycling into the black lion chest at some point in the future but from my observations it takes close to a year before they do.

When you sell those vintage boxes be aware of the 15% trading post fee. With the listing at 40g like in the video you would only get 34g
That's why people make this kind of videos to manipulate the market for themselves. In the history of MMORPG games not just GW2. If anybody makes a video like this it means; "I already exploited that or I made it even so when you start doing this prices will go up and I'll sell my cheaply bought items. Don't ever listen to a youtube for market economy.
how do i know if its worth buying weapons for tickets instead of the black lion weapon box? i have 1 brain cell and am bad at math
Basically comparing the price of Vintage Black Lion Boxes with the current skins. GW2BLTC.com will be easier to do, as you can see buy/sell price instantly of those (www.gw2bltc.com/en/tp/search?name=chromatic%20assassin for the current one).
Otherwise, picking the Vintage Box is always an OK deal. Just not always the best.

if i understood you correctly, and looking at the prices of the chromatic assassin skins, it would be more profitable to spend tickets on those right now than the weapon chest?
