Music:
Wow, Mr. Aussie... I've watched many of your videos. This must be one of the top 3 or so best. The drone flight was just exquisitely done, both for your wife Neenee and for your audiences, us...
Anyway, as a little boy, around 5 or 6, 1975, I lived in northern Vangvieng, on the high mountains over-looking Kasi, , a dozen or two miles to the east of Long Cheng.
(Interestingly enough, maternal grandfather & I saw, must be 1973-74 or so, some of the last fighting between the Pathet Lao and the Royal Lao/Vang Pao side, in Kasi, from our mountain top village. For a few nights, we went outside to see the displays of tracers & anti-aircraft firing, from the ground to the sky and apparently from the airplane circling above, targeting positions down below. Immediately, the next year, we went down to live along Highway 13, for half a year, by the Nam Lik River. I still remember that father and I used to go setting baits for big cat fish night & would then wake up very early each morning to go check on those baits, a few hundred yards from our house. One night, in the middle of the night, in the summer of1975, though, us kids were awoken to be told we're "going some place." That one early summer mid night was my last memory of Laos.)
So, even my small boyhood memories tell me, first hand, the TOPOGRAPHY in & around Vangvieng was exquisite.. the mountain ranges surrounded by Kasi to the west, Ban San Tong, straight southward through Laos highest mountain, Phou Bia & Ban Mouan Cha, down to Muang Hom and the big water reservoir to the west of Muang Hom & north of Vientiane.
But with the aide of technologies, like GPS, drones, modern roads and reliable transportation (which allowed all kinds of creative travelers to shoot all kinds of videos), etc..... Laos proved to be even more exquisite than I had ever thought possible, especially during the rainy season & immediately after it, where everything was lush, without too much dust or dead plants covering everything...
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Beautifully told. I have heard many stories of people having to leave Laos in the mid 70s, but your story really captured what it must have been like in those last few years for you.
As you are probably aware, we are making our way to Long Tieng, so please stick around, you're definitely not going to be disappointed with the stunning landscape along the way.
Thanks again for sharing your story. 🙏
That is harrowing tale. I am thankful. Around Kasi it is amazing. But, to be honest the whole county is very jaw-dropping.
🤗🙏🏼!
WOW! BIG wow. Pandora and Jurassic park together. Loved it.
Thank you.
Take care.

Love ya work mate . When Covid has disappeared my wife and I intend to go to Laos. Thanks for the no bullshit information. Cheers Gary
You’re spot on Gary. That’s what I like about Todd’s videos. The no bullshit factor.
Spectacular scenery - and good infrastructure in town - Thanks Mr T
Summed up on one word Awesome SMILES
Stunning scenery. Never been to Xaysomboun. When I first lived in Xieng Khouang there wasn’t the road link between Phonsavanh and Kasi, so you had to take the road north through Houaphan to loop around and then come back down through Luang Prabang - the roads were so bad that it took ages. At times because of attacks on the road around Kasi, you weren’t even allowed to drive that road and there was no access at all to Xaysomboun. The quality of the roads now is light years away from what they used to be
reminds me of North west Scotland, I left there when I was young and now in Straya
Great. You are living the dream.
