I have an armadillo living under my shed arcade. He built a tunnel underneath and we had a face off once I heard scraping underneath the floor. As long as my arcades and shed are fine...he can stay.

I’m happy it’s something I can do. Paying people to do stuff is crazy expensive. I figured some would enjoy seeing some of the process. It would be cool if I could record some bad jobs. I could do it on vacant houses I guess but I don’t have any free hands to hold the camera.
had mice in my basement game room and a few died and the smell sucked. Traps worked but it was a stressful couple of weeks for sure. Glad you got them

Wrap the lines and foam with duct tape. Then wrap the duct tape with foil tape.

I know some don't like cats, but a good cat will earn its keep. We used to have rats. Our cat solved the problem. Love or hate cats, they can earn their keep. I also have a work shed, and have no issues.
I thought about it. We have a cat but she’s been an indoor cat her whole life and is way too old to be put outside now. The bait will kill way more than a cat can. I just need to be sure I fill them back up lol

Chris, Its Dan from John Glenn. I have the same problem with my shed. Rats and Mice chew thru anythin. You dun know this. They cant chew thru Steel Wool. If you can stuff 0000 Steel wool into ANY and ALL openins you can find. Not sayin ya gotta fill the entire area of the line run coverin. Just where they can get in. If you do use the wire you were talkin bout. Use STEEL screen. Not the Nylon stuff. The rat bait works as know, they eat the stuff which makes them thirsty, they drink which activates the stuff, then it duz what its posed to do. Dead Rats. The steel Wool is the only thing I have found to be 100% effective. It wont kill'm but it duz keep'm outta places ya dont want'm. When you put the skirt round the bottom of the buildin, use the tin roofin and dig a small trench in the ground for the roofin to stand in then attach it to the buildin. Justa couple inches is all ya need. If ya use the corrugated roofin, put the steel wool in each of the open holes. I used some left over bricks I had layin round to keep them from under my shed. I still have places I find now and then as the drought moves the bricks. Glad ya dont hear them any longer nor have seen any remanence of them bein there. Good Luck my Friend.
Hey Dan! Thanks for the tips, I’ve got to devote some time to working on keeping them out from under it. I may end up just replacing the skirting with a solid material.
I had some mice get into my shed last winter and it drove me insane.. I play video games in mine and I would hear them scurrying around in the ceiling.. I used the trusty mouse trap with peanut butter method and it worked flawlessly. Hopefully you can get those holes sealed up and they won’t make it inside like they did mine.
I think I’ve won the battle, for now. I haven’t heard a peep! I also haven’t found any corpses but I don’t normally see them dead after eating the bait. My neighbors might be finding them lol

I had one as a kid too. My mom saw the one in the Shed and had to buy it for me. I used to put my knee in the back of it and scoot around on it has a child. Those sharp edges were fun haha. I had to put it up in the arcade.
I saw the notification hit my phone and was like oh no. Glad you got it taken care of. Too much investment has been made in the shed cade to have rats ruin the fun.
I’m glad it wasn’t worse than it ended up being. I didn’t want to have them in that wall. I’ve looked in the attic to be sure they’re not up there. Everything is pretty well sealed but I really overlooked at one spot.

That’s tough, I’d say trap it and release it elsewhere if it gets too bad. Otherwise they aren’t a big problem to have around. As long as you don’t get fleas in there, you should be fine.
Stuff steal wool pads at the access points.

I just saw a rat for the first time ever running in my driveway towards my house and I think it ran into the neighbors gutter line

Depending on what part of the world you’re in you probably have tons of rats outside you just never see. They’ll be around, just keeping them out of your house is the important part. I’d be proactive and look around for holes, especially leading into the attic.
I use milk crates and snaptraps with peanut butter. The milk crates stop birds from getting trapped. Take a peek over the fence of your neighbors. See if they have junk piles or something. My neighbor feeds the squirells and that attracts the rats. Good luck!
That’s a solid idea. All of my immediate neighbors are good. I’ll just keep killing them with the bait. I love those since they can kill many rats per day with no clean up lol

I’m rarely called manly so I’ll take it lol! I’m not that bothered by rats really. I’ve dealt with them alive and dead enough to not mind. But if it were full of big roaches, I’d be bothered haha.

Despite hoarding food my mom never had a problem with rats. In over 43 years any rat that found its way in was quickly dispatched… but then the landlords sold the whole trailer park to a developer. Over the next year and a half homes were demolished as people found places to go and in the end I was trapping rats at her place almost daily for the last few months. I got six one day, not even counting nests/babies.
As a pest control guy, do you think it was an influx from neighboring homes concentrating there since she was one of the last people/food sources or did her food hoarding finally catch up to her?
In the end, I’m glad we were finally able to throw a bunch of that out of date food away.
Jeez, that’s a pain! I have a few suspicions about what started it. We do have new-ish neighbors behind us but they seem clean. I’ve never been inside but their yard looks fine. They just cleared a huge part of rough land behind my neighborhood, removed ponds and other places for them to live. I know there are rats everywhere in this part of the country because of the friendly weather conditions. I assume they were forced out of that cleared land and found living in the neighborhood much easier on them. They’ve got places to make nests around sheds, probably are getting into a few attics in the area too, people feed their pets and leave the food out which attracts them and will actually reverse the effects of rat poison. Dog food has vitamin k in it which will counteract the active ingredient in the rat poison. That’s a big problem when we bait at customer’s houses. If their neighbor won’t cooperate it’s very tough to stop the issue. We can always tell when they’re eating the dog food and the bait, their poop turns that green color like the rat bait. I’m glad I don’t do a lot of rodent work anymore, it’s like fishing but someone is paying you expecting you to catch something. Sometimes you just don’t and it gets expensive.

I don't feel great about it but outside of a snap trap, it's definitely more humane than the glue traps. I refuse to use those. Even some snap traps don't kill instantly from what I've found. I don't eat in there. It's not even cold this time of year. I think it's more the opportunity to have shelter.

Haha all restaurants battle them. I did a Chinese buffet once after hours. There were rats running all over the kitchen. If you look around most restaurants, you’ll see boxes outside. A lot of them are disguised as other things, but they are for rodent baiting.
Oh no! Not rats. Man.
They’re everywhere. I’m only surprised because I’ve never seen evidence until now. But in my part of the country, the weather is perfect for them. They really are everywhere at night outside and there’s not a lot that can be done about it. The bait stations cut down on the population but unless everyone used them, we wouldn’t make much of a dent.

It’s been pretty fun. Sometimes those games feel like a second job, this one kind of does but it’s been enjoyable for me. I haven’t been interested in console games in a while so it was nice to get back into it.

They chew everything all of the time. They’re essentially teething their entire life. If they don’t chew, their teeth will continue to grow. Sometimes they chew for water, food or access to shelter and sometimes they just chew to grind down their teeth
