Diabetes DECEPTION (The 5 Lies Deceiving Diabetics) 2024

  • The best diet for diabetics is hotly contested. You may have friends who've reversed/improved their diabetes with a low-carb/KETO/Carnivore diet. But, then your doctor or dietitian tells you it's dangerous, just keep eating lots of whole-grains and fruit! What's going on here??
This video will help you understand the 5 forces creating confusion about the proper diet for a diabetic, both Type 1 and Type 2. Some of these forces make sense, and some of them have very complicated incentives that keep them from recommending a diet to diabetics that will improve Type 1 Diabetes, or quickly reverse Type 2 Diabetes.

Another thing I wanted to mention. One of my sisters died at age 49. She was a type 1 diabetic. One day I told her to please let me see what her doctor told her to eat, she showed me the food chart she was given. OMG, it was FULL of high carb foods, bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, juice, etc. I told my sister no, that's the wrong food, it's very bad for you. She wouldn't listen to me, saying her doctor knew best. Well, her blood sugar got so high that no medication could bring it down, she suffered heart failure in the middle of the night and died in the ambulance. DON'T LISTEN TO THOSE DAMN DOCTORS, THEY ARE ALL ABOUT MONEY, IT'S A DOMINO EFFECT IN THE MEDICAL WORLD.

Hey there! I'm a 25 year old Type 1 Diabetic of 17 years. My whole life, the doctors would tell me to eat plenty of high carb foods. I'm an athlete so I eat a lot! I was consuming in excess of 400g of carbs per day and using approx. 150units of Insulin a day!! I didn't realise how much damage I was doing in that 16 years until I was unable to control my BGL's right because of the high doses of carbs and ended up in hospital nearly dead after going Hypoglycaemic. One of my cousins was on Keto and started preaching to me how good it was. I had always heard that it's dangerous for T1D and shouldn't do it. But i ignored that, and decided to go keto/carnivore and my BGL control is perfect now! I only use 30units of insulin a day, my physique is amazing, I look and feel as if I'm on steroids. The cure is ignore your doctors and take back your health into your own hands!!

Gwen Olsen was a pharma rep for 15 years and in her book said she says that they (the reps) were in a meeting being taught about a new drug. She commented on the fact that the information they were given mentioned a particular side effect. The response was "we will find a drug for that". I've learned so much over the last 7 years about how pharma companies work and the clinical trials (only 2 required to be submitted but they can do as many as they want; and I've found out even more recently about "pre-trials" and people getting bad reactions to statins not being included in the proper trial, and also that if a person has a bad reaction during a trial if they do not go to hospital they are not included and I now research everything.

My mom, who has Type 2 Diabetes, was recently in the hospital for 18 days. I spoke with the dietician who said, according to the ADA guidelines that the hospital follows, my mom is allowed “four carb counts” per day. Mom’s daily menu offered a combination of fruit juice, rice, pasta, cornbread, rolls, roasted potatoes, fruit cocktail, diced peaches. 😳 I asked the dietician, “Why give sugar to a person with diabetes just to have to chase it by giving her insulin some four times a day?” In any other situation, it would be considered lunacy to give someone something that is known to hurt them just because you can treat it afterwards.

He lived with us for 6 months last year. He told me his doctor told him he has to eat at least 30 carbs each meal! He is on medication that does not control it, so he always feels bad. He sleeps with a CPAP machine, is overweight and loves his beer, chips, potatoes, etc. He doesn't want to hear what I have to say. I've learned that no one wants to hear it. They want to keep on living the way they are and hope there is a pill that will save them. It makes me so sad. I am low carb, sometimes Leto, but in much better shape than 4 years ago when I was 30 pounds overweight, showing the inflammation. I'll never give up my way of living/eating. And just have to wait for someone to ask before I share. Because when I try to share now, they all tell me I'm wrong and try to shame me into eating their way. Sadly, my husband is one of them 😥

In February of this year, my A1C was at 7.7. I was taking handfuls of medications along with 16 units of insulin and suffering constant diarrhea for over 10 years. I also suffered nightly leg cramps, hip pains and could hardly walk to do my job. My doctor suggested a chiropractor... I was in so much pain, I asked God to end my suffering.
That night, I began researching my health issues and learned Statins could cause my leg issues. Two days later, my severe leg issues started to dissipate. I then tried the carnivore diet for a month, learned about cutting sugar and carbs with Keto, and my glucose levels began dropping. I stopped taking metformin in June and reduced my other medications. By the end of July, when I went back to my doctor, he was stunned by my results.
Without the Statins damaging my muscles, I was able to walk normally. I had also lost 9 pounds by cutting my sugar and carbs, the diarrhea of 10 years was gone, and my A1C was now 5.8
I still have a ways to go, but I wanted to thank you, Dr Berry, for helping me find this path.

I realized the "system" was against me years ago so decided to take matters into my own hands by learning about getting to better health through a better diet. It's been quite a journey and not easy to find foods that are safe that I can afford, such as organics, grass fed, etc. When I discovered intermintent fasting (IF) and keto it was a huge breakthrough. By eating one meal a day vs three I can afford to eat higher quality foods. At first my one meal was quite large but as time went on, I couldn't eat it all and my portions became smaller and smaller. I eat about one fourth of what I ate prior to practicing IF and keto but feel fully satiated, have lots of energy, a clear mind, and the weight has literally fallen off. Prior to this life change my doctor was always testing me for diabetes. Since I was so overweight, he felt I must certainly have it. The tests were always negative, probably because I've never been much on breads and sweets, but it was an ah ha moment for me to improve my diet. Thank you, Dr. Berry for a great video. I saw an article and video clip from a local news station titled: Diet strategies that prevent blood sugar spikes, boost COVID-19 survival. They went on to say that people with high blood sugar (with or without diabetes) had worse outcomes to covid due to the BS and inflammation. I was on board with what they were saying. Then I got to the part where they gave a choice between 2 items to test you on if you knew what would cause the biggest BS spike:
Option 1: PB&J on white bread
Option 2: a poached skinless chicken on white bread
They went on to say the jelly sandwich was actually protective and would help prevent BS and inflammation issues and the chicken sandwich was the worse. So it is better to eat to protect yourself against COVID.Their reason? No, not carbs. They concluded that saturated fat causes insulin resistance, inflammation and blood sugar spikes. Its so sad that the news is saying this. Many people will see it and put them in a worse position when it comes to a healthy immune system during a pandemic.

I think I saw the same/similar news a few hours ago. Saturated fat causes muscle marbling like a marbled steak--funny, that's caused by grain feeding herbivores, how many steers eat sat fat? Sat fat might *cause* IR only if always eaten with carbs--which is a lot of what's in the SAD. So there's the assumption that the normal way to eat is what we eat now on average. Primal/Paleo/Ancestral Health/evolutionary biology doesn't even exist in this view.

I'm having my next blood sugar test at the end of the August and I'm looking forward to seeing the results not only in the mirror, but also on paper. I'm so happy I've started keto again, this time the right way.
Good luck to everyone starting :)

You could insist upon a CAC (coronary artery calcium) test. It's a CT scan with minimal radiation exposure that directly shows any calcium built up in your arteries. instead of cholesterol nonsense. Ivor Cummins talks about it extensively on his channel. Also, it's OXIDIZED LDL that's the problem. The oxidation causes insulin resistance and the oxidation comes from vegetable oils. Clinical studies have shown that the associated (not necessarily causitive) risk factor of cholesterol and heart disease is around 1.6. The risk factor of insulin resistance, corrected for age and sex is around 10.0!

My endo doc told me I may have to give up my Dexcom if I don’t have the need to adjust my levels with insulin a certain amount. We both agreed it was a small price to pay for having stable keto blood glucose levels constantly. I will never give up my type 1 diabetes keto solution for a device. Medical device companies are in on it also.

    • @ReversingDiabetes
      @ReversingDiabetes Před 4 lety +2

I was a T2, so insurance only pays for the Libre, not a Dexcom. But I've worried that with my labs, they might decide I'm not a T2 any more. Well, I don't consider myself a T2 anymore either, but I *need* my Libre.
If they want to take it away, they'll be informed that they can go back to paying for my Lantus, Humalog, metformin, prednisone, liothyronine, lisinopril, carvedilol, lasix. And the rental on the lymphapress, not to mentioned the nebulizer and multiple inhalers when my CHF was real bad. And the multiple doctor appointments, labs and tests, and even several hospitalizations and surgeries.
They can take my Libre from my cold, dead hands. ;)

So true Dr. Berry. For 2 years now I have been Keto, Carnivore Only, and back to Keto again. I have lost 170lbs during this time. I still have another 100 or so to loose to be a normal weight. My A1C's are in the 4 and 5s now, on no prescription medications.
I had been diabetic for about 15 years. It started with a pills, then more pills, then insulin, and more insulin, and then meal time insulin. I was on 250 units of insulin a day before and still had A1C's in the 10's. I was so frustrated because I exercised and ate my banana and oatmeal for breakfast and did what my endocrinologist said and I came back for my checkup and put on another 5-10 pounds and my A1C was worse. I would get this look of disbelief when I told my Dr. that I was doing everything they said. Kind of like well, we hear you, but we know you got a hidden bag of donuts.
I now just see a PA once every year and get my blood work done every 3 months. My cholesterol numbers are great (though they weren't terrible before). I also have normal BP's now instead of being in the 200's titrated out on 5 BP medications. I still smoke, I need to tackle that next.

Not one doctor in my area would ever speak like you to anyone, especially a patient, because they are completed beholden to their sugar daddy (no pun intended), the insurance industry.

During the current corona situation, there is a very noticeable clearing of the shelves of all the processed food. People don’t know how to cook and big corporations have figured out how to create a need by making everything easy.

The way things really are....no surprise here. I reversed a fatty liver with carnivore, intermittent fasting while living through a Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma with 4 -6 months to live assessed by the Huntsman Cancer Institute after full biopsy and MRI. I was asked to immediately go on Chemo, which I'm glad I declined. That was in 2016 just after a hip replacement. As a veteran working through the VA, you can't imagine how upset I was when I found out through actual adoption of Keto, then Carnivore, how screwed up the dietitian's pyramid plan was. I learned I was insulin intolerant and by merely avoiding carbs, in any form, completely changed my life. Thanks for that video. It really made sense.

I lost the diabetes before I lost much weight; I was off insulin Sept of 2019 and only began in August. I still have a good 30-40 lbs to lose today in July of 2020.
Obesity and T2 diabetes have the same cause: hyperinsulinemia. IME, the elevated bG is easier to lose than the fat. All you have to do is get your insulin really low, whereas the fat needs that also, but still takes time to burn off.
