    Thank you Simbihawt I didnt get the Shawarma haha Also just wanted to say that Makossa is a genre from Cameroun and Kupe might be coupé-décalé, a genre from Cote d'Ivoire very popular in Francophone Africa. Dont know how popular it is in Nigeria though.

    I don't think he meant "as guard" but "Asgard" from Norse myth. I think seyi was referring to himself as a god. saying he dwells in asgard. which is a dwelling place of principal gods of the norse people.

      @Simbihawt  Před rokem +2

    And one more thing I think seyi as a Muslim said his house/home is in heaven by saying ile ni’le mi Asgard…he might be crossing Viking terms here…Asgard is the equivalent of heaven for Vikings (where Odin and Thor dwell)

I also don’t want to rule out the Hausa language since it’s in the northern area and I only know small Hausa. I looked up the lyrics but didn’t find any that matched up well with what I’m hearing so didn’t want to include. I will be on the lookout and will let you know if I get it 🙂

      Thank you! ☺️ In the intro/outro of the song I pick up on a few words but I feel like I hear so many different languages. Also, because Gwagwalada is in Abuja I don’t want to rule out the possibility that there can be some Hausa language sprinkled in there as well. I saw different lyrics for the intro but it didn’t truly match up to what I hear. Since I’m not sure I didn’t want to speak on this. I’ll be on the lookout and if I find out I will let you know for sure.

    Thank you for this. But Pidgin isn't broken English.
    Edit: I'd like to clarify this stance in 3 points
    1) Language cannot be broken, if it is spoken and it is understood its perfectly functional language. In a linguistic sense it doesn't make sense to call languages broken. All speech has its own rules for emcoding and decoding information and van express complex ideas
    2) The rebuttal to point 1 is usually that, it comes from English but isn't exactly how the English people use it so its broken or even more extremely that it has its origins in people trying and failing to learn English therefore breaking it but this is also false. It's distinctly a mixed language and only words really come from English and there was no attempt to assimilate at the time of formation just to accomadate cross language communication with the English in their position of dominance and often it was explicitly used to exclude them. Similarly speech in the Americas for example was specifically a rebellious language used to exclued white masters.
    But in general the grammar isn't something that can be created from breaking English, the just pasted English words into what is broadly a west African language
    For example the verb dey in I dey for Gwagwalada, translates to be in English (am is are etc). English people make no distinction between being somewhere and being something so this usage could not have arisen from breaking English and is very common in west Africa.
    3) Calling it that was made by white supremacists in order to label black people as stupid and encourage the erasure of a form of apeech they could not understand
