- This video is to help you understand the meaning behind the song Gwagwalada by @BnxnTYE @KizzDanielchannel and @seyivibezvevo908. Afrobeats and West African music may be easier for some to understand when translated and explained. I hope you enjoy!

Thank you Simbihawt I didnt get the Shawarma haha Also just wanted to say that Makossa is a genre from Cameroun and Kupe might be coupé-décalé, a genre from Cote d'Ivoire very popular in Francophone Africa. Dont know how popular it is in Nigeria though.
Hey, I love this! Yesss I know of the genres and that makes complete sense. I overlooked this especially “coupe” !! Thanks so much for this perspective. Pinning this comment ☺️
I speak Yoruba and feel like I get most of the lyrics. But I watch your videos because you do some good research and always have a new interpretation that I totally missed. It helps me bond with the song better. Great job 👍🏼, and thank you 🙏🏽 ❤
You're welcome and I'm glad you like the videos. I really appreciate your compliments🤎. Feel free to share any of your interpretations at any time 🙂. Many people bring in so much knowledge and it teaches me (and I'm sure others) a lot...sidenote: I need to work on my Yoruba speaking skills 😂
Love the song and love your channel helps us none niaja ppl learn the songs.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it 🙂
You a doing a great job… keep u ma💯🙏🏼😊 I am a Muslim.. you translated that verse correctly. That’s how is writing in the holy book of Quran.
Niceeee!! Thanks so much ☺️
I love the music and the beat and FINALLY 😊 I can understand the words.
Thank you 🙏
😂 niceeee! Glad to help
So helpful!
Love your energy thanks from south Africa 😊
Good job simbi! happy to watch your videos. 👍
I don't think he meant "as guard" but "Asgard" from Norse myth. I think seyi was referring to himself as a god. saying he dwells in asgard. which is a dwelling place of principal gods of the norse people.
I haven’t heard that! Cool I never knew that. Someone also told me that Asgard is the name of Kizz Daniels house or like record studio or something.
That guy has occult knowledge he uses incantations in his songs be careful.
Nahh..😂 "Asguard" is the name of Kizz Daniel's studio. "Ile ni ile mi Asguard" in this context means he's always welcome in Kizz Daniel's studio(Asguard) ✌️
And one more thing I think seyi as a Muslim said his house/home is in heaven by saying ile ni’le mi Asgard…he might be crossing Viking terms here…Asgard is the equivalent of heaven for Vikings (where Odin and Thor dwell)
Oh wow never knew this! Thanks so much for this insight
I like the way you analyze iya charley. Have no idea until I watch your analysis.
I love your smile, your energy and you are generous ❤
You are so kind. Thank you 🤎🫶🏾
Girl thank youuu!! This is so helpful!
You’re welcome!! 🙂
Kizz Daniel's house is also known as Asgard. So, what seyi vibez is saying is that kizz Daniel's place is his place as well. Like he's at home in kizz Daniel's house.
Ooh I was thinking “as guard” but yes I see what you are saying and that makes sense. Thank you for helping out with that!
True. Liz got the inspiration from the fictional city Asgard
My jam!!
Lol mine too!!
Great Job... 👍
Thank you 🙏🏿
I love you😃

Love this, great one here💯
Thanksss ☺️
Niceee ❤
I now know more ✌️😙
Nice! Happy to help ☺️
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
How come I'm just getting to see your channel, this is a perfect transcription of all languages spoken in the song. Kudos
Gone on to binge your other videos
Lol thank you!
Good Job!
Thank you 🙂
Thanks for doing this
You just got a new subscriber with This video
Lol thought I was the only one that knew about this shawarma 😅😅😅
No 😂😂
@@Simbihawt I knew that without seeing the video the roll up part caught my attention and It stroke me it’s not really shawarma they referred to here
@@Simbihawt these artists are good with wordplay and you are doing a great job helping us to decode these secrets it just makes the song renewed to us with a more clear concept and totally different understanding thank you❤️
@@Sef15 you’re welcome 🙂 and yeah I’ve never heard shawarma used like that before until this song so just had to use clues. Hopefully we are right but we should be lol
loved this - plz keep going!!!
Thank you! Will do!
Ginger has in spice me up like ginger type spice 😂
Intro is hausa I think cause it makes sense with gwagalada in Abuja a hausa speaking area. But it sounds like children playing sound or melody young girls especially singing it as they play "ten ten" with their hands and palms touching
Oh yeah wasn’t sure what language but looked it up and couldn’t find anything
Mi o fo molana on God
Mi o fo = I am not impressed nor afraid of you.
Molana on God = God is my source of inspiration and on him I trust.
Amen thank you!
Olorun lon la ona maybe?
They jammin 😊 thank you so much for your I interpretation ❤
You're welcome 🤎🙂 and yes they really are lol
Ta ika sufe is type of finger snap for God forbid or bad to sender. Sufe part goes with ta ika to show that it's a god forbid finger snap nor just any finger snap.
Thanks!!
New subscriber here. Great work!
Welcome aboard! And thank you 🙂
Not just speaking Yoruba but been street wise
Yes!
❤
🙂🫶🏿
I love the song, but i love you more. Love smile.
That’s so sweet🤎 thank you. Muchhhh love to you as well
Mi o fo means am not scared it's just yoruba slang and mo lana means i dont catch fire 🔥 or I don't breakdown
Okay thank you for sharing
No, you are wrong. MAULANA OR MAOLANA is an Arabic word
@@asolab listen to the song very well
@@senseman964 yeah, it’s a Muslim word, Seyi likes using Arabic word cos of his Muslim background
Oh yeah mi o la ina 😂😂😂😂 I didn't catch that 😂
i think the part where kizz dan said won ti sanwo fun mi means he has been paid so the babe has nothing to worry about, he is going to pay for all her services and not won to soro fun mi like you interpreted
Yes you are correct and thank you for breaking it down further. When I watched the music video, I saw BNXN gesturing his hands in a way that was signifying money (san owo). I wrote a correction in the video on what it means but I had already recorded it. Thanks for explaining it better 🙂
200th liker
🥳🥳 thanks!
Iya Charly makes so much sense now 😂 Do you have any idea what they were saying in the intro, was it even Yoruba?
Beni kolobi
kuna ni mo bi
Ja ni su na ji shun
Lol niceee and I can’t make out what they are saying in the intro/outro due to the tone there. I picked up on a few words and feel like I hear a mixture of different things. I also don’t want to rule out the Hausa language since it’s in the northern area and I only know small Hausa. I looked up the lyrics but didn’t find any that matched up well with what I’m hearing so didn’t want to include. I will be on the lookout and will let you know if I get it 🙂
Abi oo I learnt something new from Simbi about iya Charles today so it's queen elizabeth 😂
Intro is hausa I think cause it spmakes sense with gwagalada in Abuja a hausa speaking area. But it sounds like children playing sound or melody young girls especially singing it as they play "ten ten" with their hands and palms touching.
Won mo pe mo sunle means they know I don't sleep on it.
Yeah
Yoruba is tonal sometimes it's difficult to set the right tone in music and can make it many meaning even with right context 😂 love yoruba ❤
@simbihawt, good job, but, i didn’t get what the words in the intro mean, could you please explain em to us
Thank you! ☺️ In the intro/outro of the song I pick up on a few words but I feel like I hear so many different languages. Also, because Gwagwalada is in Abuja I don’t want to rule out the possibility that there can be some Hausa language sprinkled in there as well. I saw different lyrics for the intro but it didn’t truly match up to what I hear. Since I’m not sure I didn’t want to speak on this. I’ll be on the lookout and if I find out I will let you know for sure.
@@Simbihawt ❤
🤎☺️
5:09 I think Seyi is celestial or cherubu and they believe in christianity, islam and traditional yoruba religion all together.
White garment churches practice Christianity only. Are you saying something different?
kindly write me the song on your intro
Kizz Daniel - Yeba
I came here for the intro 😢😢😢
Lol sorry
Thank you for this. But Pidgin isn't broken English.
Edit: I'd like to clarify this stance in 3 points
1) Language cannot be broken, if it is spoken and it is understood its perfectly functional language. In a linguistic sense it doesn't make sense to call languages broken. All speech has its own rules for emcoding and decoding information and van express complex ideas
2) The rebuttal to point 1 is usually that, it comes from English but isn't exactly how the English people use it so its broken or even more extremely that it has its origins in people trying and failing to learn English therefore breaking it but this is also false. It's distinctly a mixed language and only words really come from English and there was no attempt to assimilate at the time of formation just to accomadate cross language communication with the English in their position of dominance and often it was explicitly used to exclude them. Similarly speech in the Americas for example was specifically a rebellious language used to exclued white masters.
But in general the grammar isn't something that can be created from breaking English, the just pasted English words into what is broadly a west African language
For example the verb dey in I dey for Gwagwalada, translates to be in English (am is are etc). English people make no distinction between being somewhere and being something so this usage could not have arisen from breaking English and is very common in west Africa.
3) Calling it that was made by white supremacists in order to label black people as stupid and encourage the erasure of a form of apeech they could not understand
You are right. I corrected myself in my later videos but thank you for kindly correcting me.
@@Simbihawtoh thanks. This is your first video I've seen. It's very good though. Thank you for doing this
Not in french 😭😭
Which part?
Excellent
Thank you!!
