  • preparetoserve.... My companion's near death experience. This is a crazy story of when I discovered my companion was allergic to the cold, in a dire predicament in El Salvador.

    The adrenaline produced during the “jump,” stopped the anaphylactic reaction. It saved his life. Which was all an reaction/answer to the blessing/prayer.

    Beautiful story. I enjoy it so much. Especially how God hears your prayers.
    You are really beautiful people due to your faith and attitude towards human beings. I admire your behavior.

    This certainly sounds like Heavenly help by prayer and faith. That was a great story. It still has Heavenly help and a viewpoint that our Lord sends what we need at the moment near death. I have never heard of being allergic to cold weather, I have learned something even in my old age. I guess we are all somewhat allergic to cold weather because it creates hypothermia that kills so many people every year. Thank you Elder for sharing this experience with us all and your testimony!

    This may have been a dangerous and life-threatening experience, but it is not really a 'Near Death Experience' as that term has come to be used. It is more a 'faith-promoting' experience.

      Why correct him? That was unnecessary. What are you the language police? His companion wasn't able to breathe his body and was shutting down. That's pretty near death had the Lord not stepped in.

      There is no need to be defensive. Most Near Death Experiences are told in first person by the person who had the NDE. Dr. Raymond Moody, who first coined the term "Near Death Experience", gave a list of common characteristics of NDEs which usually include someone leaving their body, seeing loved ones or a Being of Light, having a life review, etc. This young man was not reporting that he himself nearly died, nor did he report his companion telling him of any of these common things that happen during a Near Death Experience. I repeat, it was not a Near Death Experience as it was titled, even though the other young man was in a life-threatening situation. If the young man in the video was to report this story to the Near Death Experience Research Foundation (www.nderf.org) for example, they would not consider it a Near Death Experience. I am truly sorry if that offends you but it is a fact.

    Weather sounds like north Texas. Within 10 min of torrent rain, there are rivers in the streets as high as your tires. Then baseball ⚾️ sized hail making dents in your car, and can cause a brain concussion.

      So Mark was referring to his missionary companion. He served as a church missionary in El Salvador for close to two years :)

    • @deskjockie4948
      @deskjockie4948 Před 10 lety +4

      Mormon young men serve two years on a mission in different parts of the world. They go out in pairs, and are assigned another missionary as a 'companion' for a period of time. A given missionary will be rotated through different companions during his two year mission.

      Javvorockrawr . That's neat! Have you come to church with any of your Mormon friends? If not, you should totally come on Sundays! We usually have meetings Sunday mornings- there are three meetings- each an hour long. I think you might enjoy it! :)
