"My Serendipity with Korowai"

On November 15, 2023, Xu Tong, the director of the Wellington Chinese Cultural Center, gave a lecture titled "My Serendipity with Korowai" at Wellington New Town School for members of the New Zealand China Friendship Society (NZCFS). The event was hosted by Chris Lipscombe（黎开盛), the national president of NZCFS. Xu Tong shared a legendary story through her personal experience, recounting how in 1957, Maori King Mahuta of New Zealand, through the renowned Maori filmmaker Ramai Hayward, presented a Maori feather cloak to Chairman Mao Zedong, which was lost and later recovered. This tale unearthed a forgotten chapter of friendly interactions between the two countries, receiving praise from the audience. More than 20 friends, including the New Zealand Ambassador to China, attended the lecture.
2023年11月15日，惠灵顿中国文化中心主任徐彤在惠灵顿新城小学为新西兰中国友好协会（新中友协）会员以《一位文化外交官的毛利斗篷情缘》（My Serendipity with Korowai）为题举办讲座，新中友协全国主席黎开盛主持活动。徐彤通过亲身经历讲述了1957年新西兰毛利王马胡塔通过新西兰著名毛利族电影摄影家Ramai Hayward向毛泽东主席赠送一件毛利鸟羽斗篷失而复得的传奇故事，钩沉了一段被遗忘的两国民间友好往事，受到观众好评。包括一位新西兰驻华大使在内的20多名友人聆听了讲座。
