    People should just get MOTUL DOT 5.1 to make life ultra easy without the paint disappearing and having DOT 4 and 5 mixture issues. You also forgot to say to get the Brembo RCS19 master cylinder lever. The upgrade with SS Lines too is amazing.

    DOT 5 was designed for use in the hydraulic clutch system. Is there was a internal leak into the transmission with DOT 4 there would be catastrophic failure. Silicone base would not damage transmission internals.

    yeah man they spend millions on exhausts, engine parts and looks...but forget brakes!! my bandit rear brakes are almost useless...i need more grip on the rear...front is fine!! sinthered pads works good but it wore twice quickly as the non sinthered ones

    You misleaded a bit with the brake fluid. Seems like dot 5 is better than dot 4. The truth is: it is not! Always run the fluid your bike manufacturer recommends. Brake fluid is corrosive, you could end up damaging your brake system. Also, is not entirely true that dot 5 boils at higher temperatures. The dot4 motul 660 competition fluid boils roughly at >350°C.

    Just changed out the front rim on my Harley Davidson. Sports ter 1200 xl notice that the front caliber. It's not not tin enough, it hits the rim any suggestions on a replacement caliper

    Another thing on that dot 4 dot 5 brake fluid. If your caliper leaks and Dot 4 gets on your rotor when you apply the brake it's going to lock up the wheel. When Dot 5 gets on the rotor it just makes it slippery. It doesn't lock up the wheel. 👍

    Dot 5 is actually made for military purposes! As those equipments stand there for years without maintenance!
    You are better off using dot 5.1 if your braking system is designed to work with it
    It may corrode the brake lines and piston seals if you use incompatible brake fluid

    • @cwg6324

      But dot 4 and 5.1 can

    Great vid. Quick question and hopefully you can help me. I have the Arlen Ness G3 Floating Brake Rotors. I happened to notice the other day that the Front Brake Rotor hardware kit (Screws, washer and lock nuts) are loose (Freeplay) while installed, I figured I'd tighten the screws and that'd be it However, this did not work as they are all in (Tightened to the max) Bottomed out. They are still lose and flimsy which makes the disc wiggle quite a bit. Aren't these supposed to be firm and sturdy while installed and doing their purpose between the brake disc and the carrier? Please advise..ty

    • @jpcycles
      @jpcycles  Před 5 lety +1

      no, not necessarily. Those are what is considered a floating rotor. There is meant to be free play between the rotor and carrier, it results in better braking characteristics.

    you can not put dot 5 in a break system designed for dot 4 it will destroy the rubber parts in the break system and cause a lot of problems
