Memphians have heard a lot about the city's crime crisis and education crisis, but Mayor Young said addressing its population crisis is a new priority.
#1 - Lower the Crime, #2 - Time to attract business #3 - Re-Imagine/Re-Develop/Re-Brand Memphis like Atlanta did and like Nashville. My parents recently moved and are outside of Memphis. In 2004, I wanted to stay in Memphis but got nothing but employment rejection letters. My former employer purchased a Memphis corporation and relocated me to their city. And, when the job ended, I moved to Atlanta and started over. Now I live in New York City and still don't want to come back to Memphis because of the crime.
my moms moved us in 2011 from memphis and i was upset that we left....but i am thankful we did. i love my family and friends & miss them very muchh... but i can't do that crime anymore w/o jobs that pay well. i even left Atlanta because of the same problems! texas has been treating me well
Get out of the city while you can. Homes are going to be bought by outsiders and the market will just continue to worsen... And the crime is only getting worse
The Memphis mayor said crime is high because young people don't have opportunities. So those are the only 2 choices? Be given "opportunities" or commit crime?
some of the negative comments below , it takes time and efforts to make changes for the better, crimes happen in every city in the country, not just in Tn, Memphis , there is no perfect city anywhere
Don’t worry, New Madrid will solve the problem all together 😄 Jokes aside tho, I don’t see any hope in saving the city. At this point, the only thing Memphis is good for is the pyramid. This is a repeat of Detroit. Besides, it won’t be long until Memphis is annexed into the Nashville Metropolitan Area so I don’t see why fixing Memphis now is going to matter. If you want to change the city, make it prettier. Stop relying on the things you’ve had for years now. Get an actual skyline. Make it beautiful. MAKE BETTER ROAD SYSTEMS. I swear I almost died on I-40 a few times before
The first thing is to find a way to lower crime in the city.

I left in 2016 thriving like a King ❤❤❤ Colorado
Damn Denver seems like a nice city to move to and I’m from Atl
Population is also going down because of how many Memphians are killed a day.
Memphis is too dangerous
Left in 2005. Only go back to visit family for a few hours. Why should people build themselves up there only to have it taken away from them?
It’s more than crime rent is too high mortgage is too high
It’s crime fix the crime!!!!
bring the jobs and things will change ... but don't improve too much or we won't able to afford it 😂😂
😂😂😂
Stop overcharging citizens
Get out of the city while you can. Homes are going to be bought by outsiders and the market will just continue to worsen... And the crime is only getting worse
Lol whose gonna pay the taxes now
Graceland draws more than 600,000 people every year. That's more than the city's population.
I used to think Memphis census population was over 700,000. I think it was in the 1980s when I saw it.

In that culture/world

Atlanta sees itself as the New York City of the South. I thought of Memphis as becoming the Detroit of the South.
@@LoneWolf42389I agree
We full we don't need no more people
Memphis Mayor is not keeping his word.
