  • Whenever I post a video of me deadlifting on Instagram, I get bombarded with questions asking why my feet are so close together. If you’ve been wondering about my close stance deadlift, all is revealed in this video! My coach, Matt Reynolds, changed my stance width, toe angle, and how I set my back to help me lift the most amount of weight - the perfect competitive deadlift!
With these deadlift adjustments, I pulled a lifetime PR of 605lb.

Deadlift stance is extremely individual. I’m glad you made this video to widen the perspective of newer lifters because most of them seem to assume that everyone does every lift exactly the same.

I'm 66, 150 lbs, just started deadlifting 6 months ago . I've been stuck at 233 lbs for the last month. I've seen just about every video on deadlifting. You are the only one who's talked about reducing the hip moment arm by narrowing the stance and bowing the legs. I tried it today for the first time and hit 255 lbs for the first time. Not only that, but I felt strong doing it, and envision future gains using your method. Thanks for sharing this!
