"They undermine their own success" There's a pearl of wisdom. I've found in sports it's usually 10% mechanical and 90% the real estate between your ears. Most folks get that backwards. Folks fail to put the effort into honing the mechanics and fail to see the importance of mental preparation (a broad topic). Good video sir.

I’ve watched almost every video you have posted for the last four years and this is the best. Every bass angler should hear this. Thanks.

This video is one of the most important you have created. I myself can see where I need to improve on my organization skills. I am getting better. After 50 years of bass fishing, I have acquired a room full of tackle. For the most part, all my tackle is organized. But in the past, when I load the boat for a day of fishing, my question is, “What do I bring?” I end up loading too many boxes of baits of two many colors and variations that simply clutter my boat and my mind. Also, I bring too many rods.
I have recently been purchasing old Umco 1000 and Plano tackle boxes of the 1970’s and 1980’s. I have labeled and created a box for each of my different lakes I fish frequently with proven baits for that lake and season. I pre load the box with my favorite lures and a few experimental lures for research. This tackle organization technique seems to have focused my energy more into searching for bass and improving my skills rather than worry about what lures and baits to bring.
I have sometime envied the members of my bass club who only throw one or two baits period. There are a couple of “Carolina Rig” only guys. There are “Shakey Head” only guys. There are “crank bait” only fishermen. But historically the past club fishing results seem to favor the “Spinnerbait” only fishing guys. All day long, regardless of season or time of day they throw spinnerbaits. These fishermen only need two or three rods and a small tackle box to fish all day.

Well said. Like finding success on very small outcroppings, or where the fish only wanted a slow retrieve. Getting on a roll and feeling it before it happened. On the other hand when I'm not in the fishing mood, I might as well stay home. Not easy. Discipline and always need to be thinking.

These videos are bass gold to me! Seriously, patterns, seasonal locations, this is everything in thr sport. Iftheres no bass around, you wont catch any. These keep me on the fish more for sure.

Fish when things are going good.
Fish when things are going bad.
    Fish when life is hard.
    Fish when life is easy.
    Fish when you're happy.
    Fish when you're sad.
    Fish, just FISH.

I believe when you’re being negative it isn’t so much the fish pick up on it but if you’re feeling negative it makes you fish differently than you would if you were positive.

I love the difficulty of fishing. Fishing and jitsu are the most complicated but the most rewarding hobbies/sports I've ever done. The constant evolving/learning to get better is why I love them so much.

When testing out new fishing tips and tricks I like to do that in smaller lakes and ponds with fairly clean water and polarizing glasses. This way I can see directly how fish react to a new trick and tweak it until it works. Thanks Randy for this deep insight you are giving us into bass fishing👏

Great video !! As usual, 100% spot on with everything!
The mental aspect is so key as nothing else matters if you don’t believe and visualize success. Anybody can be good when it’s easy, but not many can be good when it’s tough.
Anyone trying to become better at bass fishing is making a HUGE mistake if they’re not watching this CZcams channel. Thanks again, Randy!

If there were Ph.Ds awarded for angling, you'd have one, maybe two Randy. Wondering if you had discussions with other top pro anglers on the mental aspects of the sport relative to being on the water, not the others issues like $ and sponsors. I can see KVD, Ike, Wheeler, Zaldain heavily into the topic.

Also- I believe different casts are like different pitches in baseball. The more you can effectively throw, the more successful you can be.

A professional bass angler still needs some kind of information about a new lake just to try and catch a bass after getting dropped off a helicopter. Don’t underestimate the ones who are great at what they do with zero knowledge. 🫵🏼
