    These looks really cool. I also love this idea of creating small box sets around specific and reusable situations for gameplay. I could only image someday having a shelf of options to just pull from depending on the adventure situation.

    I picked this up at my FLGS, and was not disappointed the Dragon is large and very detailed. You could probably get away with just a couple of washes to make the details pop from across the table. I plan on painting the whole thing though and adding some gems to the base, as well as picking out things like swords and shields to give the treasure more variety. The booklet for the encounters is great as well. I think I’ll end up buying this whole series, so I hope they do lots.

      @@josephskiles they just killed it. And kinda put the blame on the competitive scene for killing the game instead of making changes to fix some of the more negative experiences in it. The last year or so it seems their focus has been on licensed board games instead of what brought them to the dance. I loved Guild Ball and I'll still use the models wherever they can because with a few exceptions they are great.

      @@jeremymagsamen3265 man that sucks, I guess at least I didn't invest a bunch of money into it before they dropped it. That the biggest problem with fledgling games they can be truly innovative and look like they are amazingly fun to play but gamers are often like me , ie leery to invest in something that might go bye bye after a few years, still I thought GB had a big enough fanbase it would be around awhile.
      Having been raised up a farm boy of course the farmers were my favorite guild ( though I liked butchers guild a lot as well), what guild did you main bud?

      @@josephskiles it had a huge base until about a year, year and a half ago. Definitely enough that it shouldn't have died but even before they killed it, it felt like it had been just about abandoned a few months before covid happened. And I have everything except for the last 3 captains and the Shepards. My main were Butchers. They just fit my play style. But I think from a visual point the Hunters really hit the spot

      @@TheGallantGoblin It seems like an unfortunate choice by Steamforged, to make the golden base non-removable. Those who want to paint the mini will either need to awkwardly mask off the treasure hoard, or prime over the gold color and repaint it.

    How difficult do you think it would be to pry him off the base of gold? I’d love to prime it up to paint it

    • @ronjames1153
      @ronjames1153 Před 3 lety

      I have this figure, and I think it will be nearly impossible to do so without destroying the base. The claws are curled on the gold in such a way that you can't see how it is attached. The bottom of the black base has larger circles directly under all four feet, which makes me think that the feet have solid plastic pegs that sink all the way through the gold pile and glue to the base. If you have a replacement base of the right diameter, I guess destruction could be a choice. Or figure out how to (awkwardly) mask off the gold pile while you prime and paint the dragon. Final choice, just prime the whole darn thing and repaint the gold pile. If I ever decide to paint this thing, I will probably take the last option.

    • @Healcraft
      @Healcraft Před 2 lety

      just tape it off or brush on primer, or just paint it up. Varnish helps more than primer for keeping paint on (according to some Goobertown Hobbies videos)
