You would have... if the Timeless Child was added.
I thought the Hitler one was funny
Dalek was an incredible episode, and clearly showed how getting caught up in anger and a need for revenge was *wrong*. Parents honestly gotta chill. Kids aren't snowflakes and getting upset about them seeing something like that, with a clear moral message... That's disappointing
Rose literally stops the Doctor from killing the Dalek, showing him the Dalek wasn’t bad anymore.
I loved this episode when it came out. Karens and their poor sweet babies smh
I absolutely LOVED this episiod!
When I was little and first introduced to doctor who I was told to watch doctor who and I did. They put on dalek for me. They wanted me to see that one lmao. Doctor who fan still to this day decade later

The most controversal episode is timeless child, change my mind
Jude H sorry, i messed up the name, but not as hard as this episode messed up years of lore

If by "the most controversial episode" you mean the most garbage episode. Then yes you are right
pettix lp ok, in about one to ten years you'll all be whining about some other huge revelation that in the grand scheme of things dosent change anything and will have forgotten the timeless children ever existed
Ok who dislikes dalek that is like one of the most universally praised episodes ever made
it's just WatchMojo's way of not admitting that the recent retcon in the series 12 finale pretty much pissed off the global populous.

I agree completely. He looked like a really cool grandpa. In fact, the 12th Doctor is just a really cool grandpa.
Exactly! I don't get why people were pissed about that 😑
@@humaira339 It's cringe
The joke was about older people trying way too hard to stay hip. I agree about him being cool though! Going back to the 12th century with his electric guitar and a tank just to make a dramatic entrance was both cool and hilarious!
i like em too, its cool and provides more tech twists, but i guess ppl like the screwdriver or at least used to sonic screwdriver as its iconic, and changing it ofc would upset fans
Regarding the Over The Rainbow mishap, Graham Norton made quite the comical apology on his own show by having his own cartoon banner get exterminated by, of course, a Dalek.
Too be fair, it wasn't Graham's fault. It was the BBC who ran that annoying banner right during the cliffhanger, and he had nothing to do with that.
Hell Bent and The Timeless Children both split the fandom. I'd say that's more controversy than anything on here.
Hell Bent wasn't even that bad honestly, I can see what people's issue is, but channels like The Who Addicts (I love them but it's a bit ridiculous how much they rant about it) take it way out of proportion.
@@thatbloodypanda6989 I actually don't mind the first third or so of Hell Bent. Once Clara comes back into the episode, that's when it goes downhill for me.

I love how you completely missed the point of why people don't like "Let's Kill Hitler". It's not just because "hurr durr the baddie is hitler". No, it's the fact it was television's version of clickbait. Hitler had like, 4 minutes of screentime? The whole episode was actually the incredibly rushed back story of River Song. The title was incredibly misleading and seemed to be nothing but a drawcard for guaranteed views. Something that Watch Mojo knows all about.
And also the teaser at the end of the last episode didn’t make it clear that the doctor didn’t make the choice to save Hitler
tbf with the episode i think ive heard the phrase "lets kill hitle" when refering to either time travel stuff or a paradox, so it was lokelly a reference to that
@@gabricaroasabedoria7867 it was still baiting though as the episode had very little to do with Hitler at all

"he ditched the sonic screw driver for reasons unknown"
Uhm... He ditched the sonic screwdriver because he gave it to davros before he knew who he was and then made a run for it, that's why he needed a replacement
Yes but he's lost his screwdriver in the past, and just made a new one in the Tardis. They're asking here why did he ditch the concept of the screwdriver instead of just making a new one.
Matt brown. Because he didn’t want Davros to know the sunglasses were sonic in the witches familiar 2 parter. Davros had the doctor captured and he had the doctors glasses on the table next to him. If the doctor had made a screwdriver, Davros would have recognised it and got rid of it to ruin the chances of the doctor using it against him. 12 kept the sunglasses cuz he probably realised that if davros didnt know they were sonic. Then his enemy’s also wouldn’t
@@keevahusky personally i believe that the Sunglasses where an attempt to change The Doctors tool of choice...I think The Doctor needs other tech other than the sonic screwdriver

@PikaCinema How many times The Doctor regenerated?
I LOVED THE SONIC GLASSES! They seemed to fit Capaldi's portrayal so well!
Every time in dark water when the recording says “don’t cremate me” I get sooooo many chills. what’s Moffats obsession with dead remaining conscious it was the same in Dracula
The time Lords ability to give more regenerations has been established cannon for as long as the regeneration limit has, that was the masters whole motivation in the classic series

Already outdated due to “The Timeless Child.” And there’s few people who can remain serious while taunting a chained-up salt shaker with a plunger and eggbeater arm.
Also the 11th doctor said saving hittler was a Accident.
Yeah the 11th doctor can make mistakes but he improves on em.
Hitler's death is s fixed point in time
There's also the fact that if Hitler was dead, his job could have gone to someone sane and just as evil - or worse - somebody who was better at letting the military decide military matters. Then Germany may have won WW2. All because Hitler was dead.
Some of these controversies and the reasons...people seriously need to get a grip 😩🙄🤣

Timeless Child, followed by the Timeless Child Again.
Well now we have that answer that the doctor was the timeless child, we know that the doctor has an unlimited amount of regenerations. As this video came out after the latest series end, I am surprised to find that the time of the doctor would still be on a list like this
It's because Series 11 and 12 aren't canon
Big bot Hours yes they are! Just because the Doctor is now a female does not mean it’s a completely different show.
RP LP that’s not why they aren’t canon. They aren’t canon because the writer is a hack

Because it was a rather brutal episode, especially when the Dalek shoots the wet floor and kills multiple soldiers in one swoop
It's controversial if someone disagrees with it
To be fair Deep Breath did deserve to be on this list, not for lesbian kissing, but the fact it was utter trash and gave a really bad first impression for the 12th Doctor.

This was made a while back. And reuploaded
'Davros' Yet Again, and 'The Talons Of Weng Chiang' has only very recently been criticised for 'white facing'. In the mid 1970's when this was made, it was standard practice - John Wayne played Genghis Khan in the (frankly terrible) movie 'The Conqueror'. It's of it's time. It's not right, I do agree, but when 'Talons' was broadcast, there were not many Chinese actors available for the role of Li H'sen Chang; (who wasn't the main bad guy - that was Magnus Greel) it was just watched, and enjoyed as a superb, clever story. Only now, forty - odd years after broadcast, have people complained. Furthermore, Doctor Who hasn't been a show I would class as 'Family Friendly' since about 1985. Violence, and stories most children would struggle to understand have been the norm.
And no mention of 'Vengeance On Varos', or 'Revelation Of The Daleks' (where the dead are converted into Daleks or food)? Both garnered lots of complaints about sadism and bad taste.
Talons definitely feels of its time. I watched it a few years ago and felt extremely uncomfortable (not helped that I'm Chinese), thanks to the portrayal and the attitude of the characters, most notably the Doctor who never once opposed the negative stereotyping and language used by the white characters.
Even orphaning my personal issues from this story, I think Talons is still super overrated. I think most people are liking it for style over substance, i.e. the streets of Victorian London. The plot is drawn out and meanders all over the place, and Magnus Greel is just a worse, more boring Sutekh. In fact, he reminds me of a worse Sharaz Jek too.
It is mentioned in the video that it didn't cause much controversy at the time in the UK. It was more controversial abroad, Australian TV wouldn't broadcast it for example. At the time in the UK I don't it seemed that unusual as Chinese stereotypes were quite common in film and TV. That's not to say it's ok,just that Talons wouldn't have particularly stood out.
Actually, I've never seen "The Talons Of Weng Chiang" until recently because it was not aired in Canada. It wasn't just recently that this was a scandal.
Glad someone can look at classic who episodes that are problematic in this day and age and not lose their sh**. People need to take into account what was acceptable at the time before jumping on things. Few people these days seem to understand the phrase "of it's time". I'm not saying what was done in Talons and other shows at the time was right, it wasn't, just that people really should get a grip when viewing these matters and not go crazy over them.
I think people should be able to look at something like that, admit it wasn't right, and do their best to use it as an example of what not to do so that the same mistakes are not repeated.
I think the recent finale, the timeless child, earns the top spot on this list
№1 - "The timeless children"
This.
I quite liked it, yes it had some flaws but overall it was well executed, the episode had me on the edge of my seat, and all main characters, particularly the doctor had prime time and the visuals were fab! I can see why some people dislike the concept but you can't deny the episode itself was very well done.
@@thedragonsunicorn Some flaws? It's shit wrapped in a fancy package.
TheDragon'sUnicorn well everything you just said couldn’t be more wrong. The episode is the worst in the history of doctor who and the reasons for it is so obvious that it has ruined doctor who and the whole history of the show. Why did it need to that. 11th doctor was granted more regenerations but now he never needed too? It’s just ruined everything that the classic and new who have done in just one episode. The whole series was shocking but this episode is unforgivable and needs to be removed from who history.
Actually no, The Timeless Children is far from the worst, or controversial episode of Dr.Who. As an episode it was good - it wasn’t a R.T. Davies level episode but it wasn’t a million miles off. What people need to remember is that Dr Who has always rewritten and retconned it’s self - When the show first started the First Doctor was just a human from the future. It wasn’t’t until the 2nd Doctor that he became an alien, and it wasn’t until the third / fourth doctor he became a time lord. Chibnell has to build on this revelation of the ‘Timeless Child’, currently it leaves too many unanswered questions, and it sounds like the next series is going to do just this. For all we know, the ‘extra regeneration cycle’ could just have been a weapon given to the Doctor on Trenzalore to save the planet and himself. All the retconning and rewrites has only given the show more depth, and people need to remember that.
"It's a family show, it needs to be suitable for everyone" yh try telling that Chibnall and his plus one that
Oh I'm sorry that the sentence wasn't complete
Would you like to complete it for me
Who else here wish that the Angels comeback at season 13?
Chibnall would ruin them
no! They should have stayed a one off with blink, the 11th doctors run in with them were ok but didnt get me like blink did!
The fact that the timeless child wasnt mentioned
How is #1 not the new retcon origin
agreed.
Because pretty much all media is complicit in refusing to criticize the newest two series, gosh i wonder why. Even though its not because of a female doctor that people hate it, it's because chibnell is the worst writer ever and should be fired.
@@MrPbhuh yeah, a female doctor was not the issue. The fact this show became doctor woke is.
It's too recent
@@shimonnym how? Series 11 came out over a year ago. Series 12 had the worst ratings and storylines of the whole of Nu Who. How hard is it to look at the way the fans have reacted and add the episodes that caused it? It's not like this is a CZcams channel where they can get clips from any show within minutes or somethi... Oh wait...
This is clearly an episode before season 12 finale because the doctor has unlimited regeneration
The Doctor didn't just get 1 other regeneration cycle, nor did he _technically_ get infinite. The Doctor already had infinite regenerations until the Time Lords imposes the limit of 12 on him after the Ruth Doctor gets caught. The energy 11 receives through his mouth, was like a "key" unlocking his full regeneration ability.
No true doctor who fan accepts the Ruth doctor.
@@superduck6456 or no true fan doesn't accept the ruth doctor. You dont know doctor who at all if you think it sticks with canon, it never does it changes over time. Canon and doctor who never work together. Chibnall has basically used "the other" storyline from the 80s and bought it in now.
cybrmaTS
Chibnall valued one mediocre episode’s plot hole over all other pretty much set in stone canon. Yes, small things can change, but never to this extent. The Doctor’s backstory was always kept intentionally vague; that’s why it’s called Doctor *Who*. Now that we know who the doctor is, what’s the point? (Also, the Ruth doctor creates more plot holes than it fixes). This retconned story does not add anything of value. It also dishonors William Hartnell. He is no longer the first doctor or special; he is just one of potentially hundreds of doctors. In my mind, and many other people’s minds as well, this episode is terrible and should have never existed in the first place.
@@superduck6456 wrong, the idea of "the other" was to add more mystery to the doctor, as we knew who he was and where his was from. But now the "who" part actually has more of a meaning cause there is more mystery that has been added. As for hartnell, it doesn't actually matter. Hes the first of the doctors life as she knows it, we've always known there were more incarnations before anyway because it's been hinted at before. Now we know, what's the issue. Everyone takes it differently but you cant say a true fan doesn't accept the ruth dr, that's just a fan in denial. However I agree with what you're saying but what has happened is nothing new, it was an idea from the 80s that been added to now and always was going to be added. I adore hartnells doctor, but in no way does it change, hes still the doctor. Just not the true first, but the first of the drs life as she knows it.

honestly, i think that kill the moon isn't the best episode, but I still think that some elements are okay... like the whole moon being an egg thing was ridiculous, but i think the way Clara was left to decide and choose with Earth about their moral dilemma actually showed the Doctor's suspicion of Clara and the people on Earth, and in a way, i think that this was a test from the Doctor to see whether Clara and all the people did save the creature and risk their lives or not. yes, it is unconventional, but that's why i like peter capaldi's doctor so much, because it puts the doctor in a new light.
BBFC 12 doesn’t mean you have to be 12 to watch. It means that you have to be 12 to buy/rent any DVD with that episode on it that is why the whole season one collection is rated 12 even though only certain episodes are rated 12, also The unquiet dead is also a 12.

julie everett I more kinda meant with the war doctor and ten regenerating into ten two, but even with this being the case, you gotta wonder how much is gospel canon especially with more recent stuff

7:44 Captain Grumpy (The War (Ninth) Doctor)
7:54 Vanity issues (David Tennant as the Eleventh & Twelfth Doctors)
The 2-episode story "Vengeance on Varos" (Colin Baker as the 6th Doctor) provoked considerable controversy for its violent content, with the Doctor causing the acid bath deaths of two guards, scenes showing attempted hangings and there were genetic experiments on the female characters. Varos society was one in which torture and executions were shown as public entertainment. The story was heavily criticised in "The Radio Times" letters page and the tv programme "Points of View" (a show which each week read out viewers' letters to the BBC), important because complaints were from members of the public not just Mary Whitehouse.
The hitler one doesn’t make any sense as Hitler didn’t die randomly in his office in 1938 😂

The timeless child better be first that’s all I’m saying. Not only has it destroyed the entirety of Doctor who it also has child abusive from the get go with the doctors “mother” killing him several times to study regeneration.
'the Doctor wouldn't have any thing to do with saving Hitler's life' alright then, let me quote the 10th Doctor then 'Davros, come with me, I can save you.' The Doctor's compassion has no bounds, that is why he's an amazing hero, he's willing to save anyone he can.
Real number 1
The timeless child
I want doctor who new season
WatchMojoUK in this video: this episode would upset children, that episode would upset children, that one would upset children as well. Oh ohh this one here would upset children very much.
I'm once a children and doesn't get upset during Sylvester McCoy era, which is the darkest of Doctor Who era. Yes it is frightening but worth a shot instead of become a coward child who's watching Mickey Mouse and Teletubbies all the time. You'll end up become a coward when you grow up.
So when are y’all just going to become a full on Doctor Who channel? I’m for it
I live the Sonic Sunglasses, its good that they added another Sonic device besides the Sonic Screwdriver.
Most noticeably, you omitted the story that the Police objected to - 1971's 'Terror Of The Autons', in which a policeman who encounters the Doctor, in his third incarnation, turns out to be an Auton, a blank faced plastic weapon in the shape of a man. The police complained because the bogus policeman was a frightening opponent, who, after being rammed over the edge of a deep quarry by a car, just gets up and starts climbing back up. The police didn't like this, as they had been striving to convince children, quite rightly, that they were approachable and friendly, and not to be feared. The sinisterly silent Auton policemen with removable faces, undid all that, in a matter of minutes. There were numerous other complaints about the story making things like dolls, telephone cables, and inflatable furniture frightening to children.
Heyo, I knew they would update the list.
But seriously hell, why is 'The Timeless Children' isn't even on the list.
What is funny about #1, it wasn't saying this is where you go when you die. The reason why these people died and went there was because of Missy and time lord tech uploading their consciousness, so it is kind of funny that people got upset because they didn't understand the story.
I love doctor who ❤️❤️
same ❤❤❤
‘Dav-Roews’ FFS Watchmojo!
Apart from the Tom Baker one you showed, none of the others are controversial. Death in heaven should had been on here, if i remember right it got into a lot of trouble mainly because of the ending part with the Cyberman Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart-brought back as a Cyberman. That episode even ended up in the papers the following day because of it.
The time lords reset the regeneration cycle, but later we found out that, as the timeless child, the doctor has always been able to regenerate for an infinite number of times.
Continuity problem, that.
To all people complaining about "The timeless child":
Did you already forget series 11?
senegal 98 and in about a year they'll have forgotten season 12, it's all about the latest thing to complain about with these people
Kill the moon was a stupid episode.
I actually have a copy of 'The Talons of Weng-Chiang' on VHS, has always been one of my favorites. Also one of my favorite parts played by Deep Roy, as Mr Sin.
For all ages huh? An orphan was murdered and eaten by a giant killer bat in one episode after saying that no-one would miss her. And let us not forget that people die in every episode
Next one should be about how Chibnall ruined Dr Who in 2 seasons....
They'll not make that video because they're too woke for that
Good guy's are really good at encouraging people not to listen to you
5000 people complaining about the Graham Norton thing need to get a life
wayne conway that could be said about anyone who commented on this video
@@leephillips4402 how so?
wayne conway it's just lines apon lines of people whining about the series finale
No Timeless child? Honestly I think I can give Watchmojo that one. Playing devils advocate: The Timeless Child isn't on here because it doesn't seem to be controversial, it's flat out hated by anyone who's not being paid to sing it's praises.
also alot of people were saying that the timless child episode was extremely controversial i dont think its controversial i think its just a really big surprise as well as people saying it messed up years of lore they are right but at the same time they are kind of wrong if anything it added more to the law. it showed us more about the timelords and their origins. yes it may have added nothing to the present timeline but in all aspects gives us a better view of the doctor and if anything more understanding about the master. now people will definately have something to say but this is just my opinion . it was a huge surprise which not many people saw coming and it upset people a lot. but these are the kinds of things you have to deal with when a show has no where left to go and is running out of ideas for bad guys. if people want the show to continue running they are going to have to get used to this. in all fairness as well the show is about a time travelling alien who fights monsters with the help of his/her companions. when you think about it nothing has changed that much.
