Undervolt your GTX 1660 Super for more FPS! - Tutorial

  • Undervolting really seems to be the best option in terms of GPU optimization both for the RTX 3000 and GTX 1600 series. Be it a 3090, 3080, 3070 or even a 3060 Ti, I’d still recommend doing it. If you do it properly, you’re gonna lose virtually 0 performance or even get an increase, while dramatically reducing heat and power consumption. Today we are featuring a GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual and using a 750W 80 Plus Gold Corsair PSU!
    We used MSI Afterburner, here's the download link: www.msi.com/page/Afterburner
    The software in the background is Heaven Benchmark, here's the link: benchmark.unigine.com/heaven

    Wow, instantly after undervolting my Zotac 1660 Super using this exact optimization guide, i saw decreases in Wattage consumption by 35-40W, (126W to 85-90W) and temperature decreases from 77C to 63C (Granted my case doesn’t have good airflow; its an HP pavillion prebuilt) sou i’m super glad with drop! Subscribed. Your explanation is excellent. I'm trying to squeeze performance out of my Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 Super, PNY DDR4 2666 16GB RAM. First I tried pushing everything to max and I got a big boost in FPS. I did +130 core clock and +1000 Memory clock. Temps never over 80c. I tried pushing it more but black screened. Now I'll try undervolt with curve scan. Trying to find my bottle neck. It may be my RAM rather than my GPU

    • @ImWateringPSUs
      @ImWateringPSUs  Před rokem +2

      Definitely with 3600Mhz RAM and 1800Mhz FCLK you'd get more out of it. Still, strictly for gaming and not for benchmarking, I think your best bet would be to Undervolt both the GPU and CPU, the 1660S as shown in the vid and the 3600 to around 4Ghz static!

      Buddy, be careful, because there are no temperature sensors on the memory banks of the 16th line of NVIDIA graphics cards. Chips can get warm, and you won't notice, because this statistics is not output, because there is simply no temperature sensor that would track temperature changes on memory banks. Also, those who do not have this sensor are advised to monitor the "Hottest point of the video card", somehow it is called that, although it shows the temperature increased directly, I tend to get plus or minus truthful information, you need to take an additional -10 degrees Celsius away from the current value of this sensor. Also, if it's not a secret, can you tell if you serviced your video card before overclocking, whether you put thermal pads on the memory chips of the video card and from which vendor do you have a video card?

    so under volting for different versions of the GTX 1660 might be good while some just make it worse like for me I have a GTX 1660 ti by gigabyte and I did a comparison of a over clock thing I had and I did this tutorial as well I did see a huge difference. The tutorial one get a 1931 score with the average 74 fps and the lowest 19 fps and did around 101 WATTS and temps were 59C , while as mine did 2100 score and average 90 fps and lowest 38 fps and did 140 WATTS and temps were 61C. So under volting might work very well for some other cards like just the bare GTX 1660 or maybe the gtx 1660 super but for the TI it really does not. by the way this was on max settings for unigine benchmark. The settings for my over clock is on EVGA precision X1, clock is 160+ and voltage is at max, memory is 200+ clock, and power is at 123%. Also If you are having problems with temps I would get fan control and setup a custom fan curve or just use like MSI afterburner but fan control can also do CPU fan if the motherboard can do that. all and all if you want a simple way to keep the noise down for a pre built or something or you are on a budget I do like the tutorial.
