- Undervolting really seems to be the best option in terms of GPU optimization both for the RTX 3000 and GTX 1600 series. Be it a 3090, 3080, 3070 or even a 3060 Ti, I’d still recommend doing it. If you do it properly, you’re gonna lose virtually 0 performance or even get an increase, while dramatically reducing heat and power consumption. Today we are featuring a GTX 1660 Super Asus Dual and using a 750W 80 Plus Gold Corsair PSU!
We used MSI Afterburner, here's the download link: www.msi.com/page/Afterburner

Wow, instantly after undervolting my Zotac 1660 Super using this exact optimization guide, i saw decreases in Wattage consumption by 35-40W, (126W to 85-90W) and temperature decreases from 77C to 63C (Granted my case doesn’t have good airflow; its an HP pavillion prebuilt) sou i’m super glad with drop! Cheers mate!
Exactly as it should work! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this man, I really appreciate it!

it's been seven months now did you notice any instability, freezing, glitch etc?
Subscribed. Your explanation is excellent. I'm trying to squeeze performance out of my Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 Super, PNY DDR4 2666 16GB RAM. First I tried pushing everything to max and I got a big boost in FPS. I did +130 core clock and +1000 Memory clock. Temps never over 80c. I tried pushing it more but black screened. Now I'll try undervolt with curve scan. Trying to find my bottle neck. It may be my RAM rather than my GPU
Definitely with 3600Mhz RAM and 1800Mhz FCLK you'd get more out of it. Still, strictly for gaming and not for benchmarking, I think your best bet would be to Undervolt both the GPU and CPU, the 1660S as shown in the vid and the 3600 to around 4Ghz static!
Bro 1000?
@@JoelPlay Followed some guides. Yeah from memory it's +1000 . What's your opinion on that?
Buddy, be careful, because there are no temperature sensors on the memory banks of the 16th line of NVIDIA graphics cards. Chips can get warm, and you won't notice, because this statistics is not output, because there is simply no temperature sensor that would track temperature changes on memory banks. Also, those who do not have this sensor are advised to monitor the "Hottest point of the video card", somehow it is called that, although it shows the temperature increased directly, I tend to get plus or minus truthful information, you need to take an additional -10 degrees Celsius away from the current value of this sensor. Also, if it's not a secret, can you tell if you serviced your video card before overclocking, whether you put thermal pads on the memory chips of the video card and from which vendor do you have a video card?
@@paparealist I never serviced my 1660S other than cleaning the dust off fans. I didnt put thermal pad on memory chips, is that easy to do? I have asus tuf overclocked with dual fans. Hottest point on card is not an option in afterburner but i found it in gpu-z. Thanks for the tip about no temp sensor on memory banks

In what wattage can you translate this? I don't know if that is answerable but considering 1660S is 125W, how significant this undervolting decrease it in numbers?
It could for sure get you to 100W and slightly under!
Hello, why do you lower the curve by -200 when others set the curve up first before flattening the curve in other undervolting vids? Thank you!
If you get it higher first, you will overclock the curve in the lower part, potentially causing instabilities
good video mo gtx 1660 ti in ratchet and clank it reached 75 degrees now it not only consumes less but it managed to drop almost 15 degrees to the gpu

I have a g1660super in the MSI 6GB gaming edition, it does what is shown in the video, but the mV increases instead of decreasing. However, the power consumption level does not change and everything is as it was.
Thanks for the great info, buliding two computers for teens each with a 1660 super.
Great value right there!
Will I gain more FPS from undervolt ing or overclocking? In your overclock video you suggested undervolt ing to be better.
You’ll get better 1% lows and better frame stability, overall a better experience. You can also aim for around 2000Mhz on the core with 950/975mV and actually get the most possible FPS so yup, much better way imho!
@@ImWateringPSUs my settings are overheating. I have a 1660ti and i7 cpu. What should my range be for voltage?
Hello, on your computer at what temperature does it remain during the game?
Around 70C, but it depends on the fan curve! Undervolting lowers your temps tho

Sorry for the stupid question. But what reason to lower the core clock by -0.200mv in general??
it drops the whole original curve down so you don't have to adjust too much yourself
Exactly, it’s just a way to flatten the curve!
I cant open msi after burner whith heaven benchmark on the background. It minimizes the benchmarking app and the gpu runs back to 15% only
You need to uncheck the "full screen" option when launching heaven
Hello!
My gpu mhz at 1500 default and when i change it to 925mv the mhz remains the same and gpu temp goes to 85 86 on Furmark.
Any help?
you didnt unlock temperature fixes via settings. Check to settings tab in afterburner . Other saying : when you reduce your mv without unlocking temp fixes it automates your whole system to adapt it , thats forcing to overclock your cores and it heats and overworks again
Hey just wanted to reconfirm it wouldn't cause any BSOD or it wont reduce GPU's life ?
Reducing the life nope, bsod you need to test it out for yourself, but I gave very conservative numbers
@@ImWateringPSUs Yea I have tested it in some pretty intensive games .... no issues so far ... the numbers were really precise tysm

do i have to keep msi after burner open or will it keep my settings after i close it
You have to keep it running minimized and set it to start with windows!
What does the +500 in memory clock do to your gpu??
It increases the memory clock of the GPU by 500Mhz, allowing for faster access to the VRAM and effectively slightly increasing performance
Hello it helps thanx, but what about fan speed we let it auto ?
I do have a dedicated fan speed curve tutorial if you want!
I got a new 1660 super card but temps are about 75-78 any suggestion?
Following the tutorial and undervolting will fix it! Plus replacing the thermal paste would help
can you tell me why did you bring down the core clock curve first?...what if i dont do it?
It’s necessary to be able to flatten it!
ye, it's just how you use afterburner to make the curve the way you want it
did you have to do this all over again when you restart your pc or did i do something wrong? every time i restart it goes back to default config
U can save that and sets to load it always when u turn ur pc
Can confirm! Save it in a profile and enable afterburner to start with windows! Thanks mate for telling him :)

I can't get the curve to be right at 1920 but I can get it to 1924 is that fine? I'm new to this.
Yes, it’s the same no worries!
so under volting for different versions of the GTX 1660 might be good while some just make it worse like for me I have a GTX 1660 ti by gigabyte and I did a comparison of a over clock thing I had and I did this tutorial as well I did see a huge difference. The tutorial one get a 1931 score with the average 74 fps and the lowest 19 fps and did around 101 WATTS and temps were 59C , while as mine did 2100 score and average 90 fps and lowest 38 fps and did 140 WATTS and temps were 61C. So under volting might work very well for some other cards like just the bare GTX 1660 or maybe the gtx 1660 super but for the TI it really does not. by the way this was on max settings for unigine benchmark. The settings for my over clock is on EVGA precision X1, clock is 160+ and voltage is at max, memory is 200+ clock, and power is at 123%. Also If you are having problems with temps I would get fan control and setup a custom fan curve or just use like MSI afterburner but fan control can also do CPU fan if the motherboard can do that. all and all if you want a simple way to keep the noise down for a pre built or something or you are on a budget I do like the tutorial.
Overclocking obviously will give out better performance, but UVing is the more efficient, cooler and less jumpy option!
@@ImWateringPSUs yeah this is true

well turns out i had to click save config on startup to keep undervolting but another thing is when i set it 1920 on 925 , it sometimes changes to 1935 on 925
@@JjustMero i have the same gpu and experienced the same thing
I had it set to 1920 but it moved to 1935 too
I just did it today, how about you, did it go smoothly?
@@manofculture274 hey, i tried to re undervolt it while gamimg and sometimes while browsing and a miracle happened, it stayed since then. Check if you have your videocard drivers up to date and try to undervolt it while gaming, but don't forget to reset the custom one. for the best shot restart your pc after you reset the custom curve and undervolt it as soon as your gpu gets used.
bro how to fix all games stuck 60 fps for this VGA card, i already use 144 Hz and turn off Vertical Sync but keep my games stuck at 60 fps and frame drop for warzone 2
I think you might have some kind of Nvidia setting in the control panel enabled! Or you need to check that your monitor actually supports 144Hz
you r GOD
Ahahah I'm glad it was helpful!
@@ImWateringPSUs I knew other similar ways but you go to the point and quick. I better use yours.
@@aanfansub Man you're way too kind :)
Call of duty cold war were crashing after using this tut, my card is asus tuf 1660 super. Any thoughts?
Set it to 900mV 1800Mhz no memory offset and subscribe to the channel!
thanks alote , i got 925mv on 2011mhz
I’m really happy it was helpful! Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave some feedback! :) I’ve also got a few build videos on the channel and more coming, if you like the content consider subscribing as it really helps the channel!
Hello sir how many watt use this card with this settings (0.900mv+1950 core mhz)
I honestly haven’t measured it with the wattmeter properly, I’d say it does around 20-30 watts less than stock!
my voltage is zero on my 1660 super, can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong with my GPU but i keep blue screening in game. temps seem to never stop rising either
Set it to 900mV 1800Mhz with no memory offset and you'll be good! Also you need to go into settings and enable voltage monitoring and voltage control!
is 400w psu can run with gtx 1660 super has undervolting???
Yes!
even 300W would be enough after undervolting if you dont have some crazy powerhungry cpu like brand new i7
Does undervolting decreases gpu lifespan ?
