This video was a life saver!! I bought this monitor this week, being my first monitor ever for my A74 I had no idea how to make the monitor just display the image. I was getting the same little screen as the cameras rear view screen with all the icons and also prob using up 3/4 of the screen reality. Thank god you displayed your settings as you were going through the HDMI settings now it works like a charm! Thank you so much for your help! Loving the monitor so far and now even more! 🍻 Keep up the great work!!
1 - Use sdhc-card 2 - Erese and convert to MS-DOS(FAT32) 3- Change filename from MERGE.bin to 550P.bin 4- Put sd-card in Monitor and install. Worked fine here. Had some problems because I used faster cards and didnt change the filename.
well I'm using this monitor since I got the replacement unit 8 months ago basically on every shoot with my bigger rig ... so far no issues even with the cooling fan turned off ... for the money its a solid unit
I just got a monitor, I have a question about the work of luts. The monitor distorts colors terribly when using luts, some of them show completely different colors that they should. I compared it with Portkeys PT6 and with what is obtained in the final cut after applying the lut. Does it work poorly with luts for you too?
I'm still having the resolution issue with the normal DC-550: it still lags when I'm on 4k video mode on my Fuji XH2. Does anyone have an update on this - or the latest firmware update? It still seems to be missing on the viltrox website.
Bro, i just got mine, even i set it auto in my fx3, the monitor only state 1080p 50, not like yours 4k 25p, do it i need to update it or something got to do with the hdmi which comes with the box?
Awesome video! One thing I'm struggling with on my monitor is getting displays to show. E.g focus peaking display and zebra display. I shoot with the A7iv but cannot see anywhere how to get these things showing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Worked great, then battery died and I inserted another battery and turned on the monitor and now my monitor has glitched lines all over , Nothing on the screen other than glitched colored lines. The monitor is basically unusable now

The latest firmware version of Viltrox 550PRO is currently version 2.5. If you want to update the firmware, you must first adjust the SD card format to FAT32 format, and the latest version of the firmware package file name needs to be changed to 550P.BIN, and then the upgrade can be successfully upgraded, MERGE.bin is not read in the latest firmware program.

from my understanding, its not the recording that matters its what resolution and framerate your camera is outputting to the monitor. so you can record footage in 4k 60, but you need to make sure the output from your camera screen to the monitor is 1080p or 4k 30
How do I get a dual view - both my Sony a6700 display as well as my viltrox monitor showing the view. I thought I could select focus point on the Viltrox, but need my camera display.
There is no update. The correct version is 2.5. Believe it or not they had a version 4.? on their website which was an older version than 2.5! I found that out with support after several discussions and suggested that they remove it from their website.
Does this monitor allow face detection as the on screen option does on the camera? Like if you have phase detection or dual pixel. Does that actually happen through the monitor?
has nothing to do with the monitor ... some (older) cameras have issues with face detection tho' when you connect a monitor with HDMI ... its ans issued with processing power of the camera not a monitor issue
What if you are using an external microphone attached to a camera cage, so that it would be to the left or right of the monitor? Does it really not pick up the fan noise???
in this case it would pick up the fan noise but you can turn of the fan ... used the mointor with out the fan running several times now even for longer shoots ( like 1-2h our interviews) and its totally fine so far. keep in mind this was with normal room or outside temperatures below 30°C so might not work that way on a hot summer day with temperatirs above 35/40°
I just received mine. Firmware needs to be updated. Tried on a Mac following all instructions perfectly and it will not update. Tried their tech support. They want me to call them. No one answers. How did you finally get this resolved? Has the monitor been worth it? Thanks

Anyone having latency issues with the monitor? I'm having a lag of almost half a second. Didn't update the firmware yet. But I was wondering, if anyone has similar lag issues
What camera are you using? If it’s a Lumix, it’s a lumix issue, not monitor. If you go into the settings and switch off audio over hdmi setting, I forget where it is you’ll need to google. If you turn off sending audio over hdmi it reduces the lag considerably.
well, I appreciate that Viltrox sent me something and that they are open for feedback, and fixed it. I will use the monitor now for a while and share my experiences, the good and the bad... also compare it to other monitors that I use for work.

What kind of card did you use? Memory size/speed wise. This may be the reason I can’t import my luts
Cheap sdhc-card. Not sure brand can check when im back home. But its nothing fancy for sure.

It is essential to use an 8, 16 or 32GB SDHC SD card … the Monitor had issues with newer SDXC cards due to file system on those.
yeah the support sucks man. my monitor has crazy long delays and i can't update firmware. junk ass monitor so far

Does the monitor support 4K 120P?
well you have to set the HDMI output to Auto or 1080p ... it can not show native 4k 120p ... it is only a 1080p panel
