Lewis was correct on the life gain from Lifelink. He will gain all 9 life, even if the defending creature only has 8 toughness. He STILL deals 9 damage. (:
this bugged me so much
The etb of the Torrential Gearhulk not being used didn't? or not using the prevent damage card as response?
You know that whenever you mulligan down to less than seven cards, if you stick with your hand you get to scry one. It stops the mulligans being so punishing
16:44 - also, Lewis is right here. his "creature" did 9 damage to a total of 8 health, he is healed for 9.
Where is the rules guy?
Rules guy doesn't come unless one of the calls it.
Legal. Also the vehicles become Artifact Creatures when crewed.
You will still gain 9 life. Creatures assign and deal damage equal to their power in combat and do not "Pull their punches" if the blocker happens to have lower toughness.
Paul Anderson also doesn't he get healed for 18? Cause u know he killed two creatures
Feels like i have seen this before
Don't know if you're being sarcastic, but this is the one that got cut off.
I keep getting so excited but it's always a re-upload. Ah well still enjoyable cheers guys
Big Bastard o
I'd love another Magic the Gathering Series! And another Civ 6 :)
Based on that, we need a rematch between Tom and Lewis to determine the overall winner...
On the table at the end I mean. 2 wins each is a tie and that's kinda shit when this series is so much fun to watch!
ShiivaWilding The win generally goes to the party that owns the head to head record. In this case it's Lewis
Tied, but Lewis has the tiebreaker head to head so he wins.
Guys, guys... stop it! They played just the once and I agree a tiebreaker needs playing, so we have an outright winner as opposed to a winner by head to head difference, which is lame and deprives us of a final magic video. Hell, if they did the scoring properly, Sjin and Duncan could have had a third place play off. Hopefully future tournaments are done with this in mind.
3 for a win
1 for a loss if you got your opponent down to below 5 health
0 for a loss
Something like that and you'd have a complete 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th finish. But I'd also like to see more people take part, so there's that. I'm looking at the Grand Slam of Darts as a reference if they wanted to do something on a much larger scale on this channel. Google it, it's an interesting tournament.
We have a clear winner. Don't piss your pants they can draft Aether Revolt in 2 weeks. Keeping score.... ugh.
love MTG thanks yogcast
Since Lewis beat Tom, he holds the tie-breaker, so I guess he wins.
Lewis was actually right when he said that he'd heal nine from the Lifelink. It only cares about how much damage is dealt, and you can deal more damage to a creature than its Toughness.
nick012000 yeah that was what I thought otherwise things like trample don't really have meaning
Ever get that feeling of deja vu?
Joe Tye
yep
If, as you said during one of the previous videos, always play a bit of magic 'ere and there, it would be pretty awesome to see some more in the future. Maybe do something for the Aether revolt prerelease that's going to happen in a few weeks.
Wait, so the "Final" duel leaves the standings at Lewis and Tom both with two wins?
They're tied! There needs to be a rematch to decide things, and I would even argue that Duncan and Sjin should battle once more for the Bronze. The fact that nobody sweeped means the decks were on an even enough playing field that a rematch may yield a different result, or at the very least a different game, I mean you can't get any more one-sided than that last duel between Duncan and Sjin.
i can't help but giggle at lewis's smug face at the end
Wait, at 16:19 Tom blocks a menace creature with a cultivator's caravan and a creature. Doesn't he need a creature to crew the caravan before blocking? Or am I missing something?
Btw you can use every amount of energy you want, for example, if you have 4 energy and it costs 2 energy per +1/+1 counter, you can use those 4 energy fully to make 2 counters of +1/+1, which eventually would make the creature grow highly with not only 1 counter but 2 counters, gaining this way +2/+2
i hope you guys are going to have a gander at the aether revolt! hoping for a boat riding dolphin
finally uploaded but last episode pls post more MTG vids
At the end Lewis said the only person he defeated was tom but just after that it reminds everyone that Lewis also beat sjin
Well now Lewis and Tom need to have a deciding game because they both finished on two wins
lol, straight into the south park reference, love it
why haven't you guys done all of you playing magic
Is this a re-upload ? Felt like I have seen this before.
Oh this is the round that ended abruptly xD
Did anyone else notice Lewis' mindsculpter had a permanent +1+1 not until end of turn?
can you use Thriving abilities twice before attack? I.e. spend 4 energies to get 2x counters per attack?
much love x
Yes.
xxxx
Could Lewis cast that instant on that vehicle even though it said target CREATURE gains +1 +0, lifelink and indestructable? I thought that vehicles were not counted as creatures.
netoconection vehicles become creatures when crewed.
I know this was ages ago, but not casting tezzerets ambition off of torrential gearhulks etb trigger was the biggest misplay ive seen in my entire life. TOM PLS
MORE MAGIC!!!
You think the slight of hand would have skill behind it...
Some of the videos of people caught cheating after the fact shows just how sloppy the slight of hand is, enough that it actually irritates me to see it happen! If an opponent is paying even a tiny bit of attention they would see cards being loaded right in front of them. That is why most cheating is successful, not skill in the cheater but due to players who do not expect cheating to occur.
Who did the Slight of hand?
I can not remember the details, CZcams gave me the video at random due to me watching... well, this sort of stuff here. It should be easy for you to do a search and find videos where people discuss people who where caught cheating on video, though. It won't take long for you to see my point - these people are terrible at slight of hand!
Yet they where only caught because a third party reviewed video after the fact, not due to skill with slight of hand.
A quick run down to how it was done in those video though and why it pained me for being so obvious:-
They would use a search the deck card to locate the one required to cripple their opponent
They would then 'palm' the card... there is no misdirection or simulation to cover this action, not even a 'drop and pick up' accident in many cases, but the needed card is simply taken from the deck
They would then 'ditch' the card by placing at the top of the deck they just looked through right prior to shuffling
They would then 'simulate' shuffling... again with nothing to stop someone from actually seeing the first 1/4 of their deck are not shuffled
They would then 'simulate' the end of their turn, conveniently forgetting one step designed to prevent this sort of cheating... cutting the deck
These cheaters are only lucky their opponents are not actually watching when the cheat, opponents would continue play not having noticing what was so blatantly obvious to a third party on review.
If you are curious, do look over a few. I got curious again and just finished watching Trevor Humphries who is skilled at slight of hand. Not entirely sure why he was shuffling his opponents deck, but it was masterful work that could have only been caught with video review. During the shuffle he would locate cards that crippled his opponent and move those to the top of the deck, all while simulating a shuffle that never actually took place.
Did Lewis have enough mana to sacrifice his goblin to kill Tom's peafowl? I didn't see him tap lands to use the ability.
Rabek Jeris pretty sure he couldn't use that yet because of summoning sickness as well. Or can you instantly use creature abilities?
The only think a creature with summoning sickness can't do is tap for an ability or attack. Note, not all abilities require tapping, and some tap abilities are able to be used regardless of summoning sickness. In particular, only tap abilities that use the tap symbol are affected by summoning sickness.
Shouldn't Tom have been able to play a card from his graveyard when he summoned that Giant thing with Flash?
Damn Yu gi yo has changed a lot since I played
I thought you always got 1 one free Mulligan
Look up 'Vancouver Mulligan' for an up to date explanation of the new standard rules. Seems like Tom forgot he's allowed to Scry 1. I think the free mulligan thing is a more casual 'friendly' rule people use.
rough i was rooting for tom, and he missed that gearhulk trigger
Is this a repost I saw this before
They cut off the ending
they really needed a judge torrential gearhulks neter the battlefield ability triggered still even if he destroyed it
lol! The penny drops @ 5:31
Where did it cut out?
Soos about 19 mins
Wait how did lewis lose?
he alos missed the etb for gearhulk
why would he discard the gearhulk wuuuuuuuuttutututututututututuuttutu the heck?
More MTG!
16:20 - target creature. Rush of Vitality won't work on an Artifact - Vehicle card. That shouldn't have happened...
When you crew a vihecle it becomes a Artifact Creature - Vehicle It was a perfectly fine play
you're 100% correct. I only partially read the card apparently! :)
Rats aren't people..........But clams sure as hell are !!!!!
260
Tom's beautiful face at the end
Lewis' too
Tom muliganed to 7 instead of 6
Rats are people! Rats are people? Legit or quit!
lol funny how lewis has become such a huge tryhard and changed his mannerisms.
Lewis, I like your hair.... That is all
Right? I want to pet it
RATS ARE PEOPLE! LEGIT OR QUIT!
Since when can you shuffle your opponents deck? That's just wrong. You're changing the card type density/mix through the deck.
Cutting the deck is good enough, it stops people from cheating by loading the top of the deck and it maintains the quality of shuffle the player had it at.
By shuffling you could be putting 8 land cards in a row when the player had it at 3 lands in a row at tops.
Tom did cheat. you CAN heal for 9 instead of 8. It's called overkill or something like that.
:p
you can Scry 1 if you mulliganjust fyi
DEJAVUMAFKS
first
moar MTG.
