    When the crankshaft sensor starts to go bad, it starts showing symptoms when it's cold. This is my own experience. You just can't find that information anywhere. You could easily think that there is a problem with the mixture ratio, although the crankshaft sensor may be the real culprit and may work well in warm weather, but at a certain degree of frost it starts to show symptoms.

      @@TheAbJGarage And to clarify, when I talk about the cold, I mean that the symptoms occurred in freezing temperatures below -15 degrees Celsius.

    Yeah so I just bought a car and is making vibration noise and you can feel it at 2000-3200 rpm it idles at 1800 rpm very sluggish acceleration and misfire cuts in and out sometimes it’s hard to start and I checked the crankshaft sensor on the front and the connector is broken into pieces and was taped together on the sensor 😂 thanks for the video man hopefully it fixes it

    Man look I've been having issues with my jeep 03 4.7 V8 I just dropped a new motor in it and it just started this I've been narrowing it down I have the p1391 code car seems fine when starting out but at some point when warmed up it starts missing BACKFIRING at times real bad other times not loud but can feel it then goes away or the engine stalls I was thinking a coil cuz I had a code for that p0355 cylinder #5 miss I switched it with cylinder #1 coil and the code went away also had to fix my breather hose as it was making my jeep run funny as well know car runs good until the intermittent issue happens and it's really hit or miss but seeing this vid really narrowed it down esp the last few symptoms u named the over heating I picked up on recently when it started missing I pulled over and cut car off and I turned the key to on and checked my gauges and the temp was up past half not normal for my cooling system so this was added bonus for me to go ahead and replace my crank sensor I'll be doing the cam as well what sensor would u recommend for my jeep again it's 03 4.7l jeep grand Cherokee limited AWD with the N vin # thanks

    Good day Sir. I have a 2012 Chevrolet Corsa LDV bakkie 1.4i (utility shape). The car recently started stalling when stopping at a stop sign or releasing the gas while driving then it stalls, but would start up and stall again. This problem occurs when the bakkie is hot. Please advise if it is the crankshaft position sensor going bad ?

    Will a dirty crank shaft sensor with sludge and dirt on it cause a no start? I pulled mine out and it had a lot of oil and dirt caked on it.

    Facts cause my car didn't wanna stop, after that my car never started again, it just clicks. Now I'm changing the piece, starter, and battery. Then I'll change my thermostat all tho it's not running hot. Still just to be on the safe side.

      Most of them are externally mounted, and hence no oil leakage issues.

    What’s the cause of them going bad???

    • @TheAbJGarage
      @TheAbJGarage  Před rokem +3

      Overheating of the engine can result in the failure of the crankshaft sensor. Excessive heat in the engine has a detrimental impact on the crankshaft sensor and reduces its performance. Occasionally, the sensor cannot withstand the heat and begins to malfunction.
      The crankshaft position sensor might potentially fail due to a defective or shorted circuit. Because circuits are critical in sending signals from sensors the signals accurately and the sensor’s fundamental function will be in trouble if there is defective or shorted circuit.
      The other thing that can damage crankshaft position sensor is a mechanical damage caused by metal debris. Metal debris might potentially cause the crankshaft position sensor to fail. The magnet of the crankshaft position sensor can pick up small metal debris. A specific air gap exists in the crankshaft position sensor away from the reluctor ring. Metal shavings settle into these gaps, closing them up. As a result, signals are poorly generated and efficiency is decreased.

    I have a 2017 Hyundai accent I just changed the crankshaft sensor it was bad next I cleaned the catalytic converter when I went to autozone to check why check engine light was one it said it was bank 01 that’s the upstream oxygen sensor right that’s my question ? It reads that it’s catalytic converter bank 01 ? That would be oxygen sensor upstream right ?
