Sooo Thai. As a Thai living in Thailand, I can absolutely predict the outcome of the competition. There can be no other verdict but a tie. Thai people will never insult a big time foreign chef, nor will they insult Thailand's own big time chef who is a cousin of the present royal family. It's so Thai to let everybody save face. Very diplomatic. Why would they set up the episode as a competition anyway, in stead of an exchange between two experienced chefs. Everyone knows it takes years of familiarity with the taste of a particular group of people, before you can master the art of cooking their cuisine. What tastes good is not a universal, a priori knowledge, it's a convention among members of a culture. You don't know what a good Thai food is, unless you are so familiar with the taste of the people. The taste of Thai cuisine is particular to the Thai people (what they happen to think tastes good), also the verdict of this competition is very particular to the Thai culture, where competition is not as important as grace, manners, and saving faces.

In the handful of dishes he learned in the past week he would be masterful; in the rest he would be reliant on general food knowledge to navigate through some seriously complex and traditional flavors and techniques. Note how Gordon won the curry dish, which is a dish he has some experience with (just not Thai style), whereas in soup he lost.

      This was DEFINITELY fixed!
They are both famous chefs, and since this is being televised, they didn't want either of them feeling like their reputation took a hit when they lose.
They may not have known who's dish was who's, but they didn't need to.
All they did was pick one random dish from each competitor, and vote yes.
The third course they agree not to vote on, that way it conveniently turns into a tie.
Further proof that this is what they did, is the fact that they voted yes on Gordon's curry, even though he burned it pretty bad.
Even he was completely shocked they they voted yes on a clearly less than perfect dish coming from a top chef.

Wouldn't be surprised if McDang went to England, and managed to pull off the same result.
