I vividly remember this happening in the past, where Viacom put a big black box in the center of the screen so you couldn't even *see* the episode of fairly oddparents you were watching. then about a week later the Viacom channels became one of two things: one was a shortcut to other channels with similar content (so nick linked to Disney channel, Cartoon network, etc.) or a pre-recorded message from a DirecTV employee played on loop
In Canada it gets removed, nothing really happens after.
Fun fact: YTV (basically canadian nickelodeon thats also really close to viacom) got removed with no explanation, my service provider still considered it "basic" even though i never got it. My mom got one of those tv boxes with thousands of channels so its no big deal anymore. But its weird that viacom would do this.

Mom Actually called the number cuz Mtv was one of the channels being pulled and it's pretty much the only thing she watches. Service provider said not to worry and that the shows probably won't be pulled off. They also told my mum to say hi to me and my brother so they seem pretty friendly.

They’ve been doing this for years. The feud between Viacom and DirecTV has always been there, constantly.
Yeah I'm on Suddenlink which is linked to Directv and my favorite SpongeBob episode "Best Day Ever" came on and I got a message on the bottom of the TV screen saying these things not got any straight up ads for it though

Dude so this same thing happened so many years ago. I don’t remember much of it, since I was probably about 7 or 8, but Nickelodeon and a bunch of other channels were completely unavailable. I, a Nickelodeon-watching elementary schooler, was devastated, and celebrated when the nonsense was over. Ah, memories.
Viacom does this like every year or two with Dish, sometimes lasting a month or two or longer, doesn't surprise me they do it with DirectTV too. What was weird was I just saw a youtube ad for this a little bit ago, so I guess they paid to try to worry people about this besides just putting ads on their own channels.

I love your video bro. :) But anywho yeah this has happen before, seems like every 4 or 5 years. Happend to dish network, spectrum and now DirecTV. It's a finger pointing situation that leaves customers in the unfair middle.
I remember them doing this same thing years ago, and I remember freaking out because I might not be able to watch SpongeBob at some places. Then it turned out that no one I knew had DirecTV (and also that I had cable).

This seems to happen every several years or so. It'll work itself out, Viacom is big enough of a cable company to where DirecTV would lose a lot of subscribers if they did this.

So a spongebob episode plays the song “The Best Day ever” before he says “hey Gary wanna know why it’s the best day ever?” The screen flashes quick and then it shows the black line and then the best day ever keeps on playing while the black line is saying “Directv is gonna drop this channel and blah blah blah bull crap” and then I’m like “how the heck is this the best day ever!?”

Thank you for posting this. I was scared yesterday because I thought I couldn’t watch Nick and a few more other Viacom channels.
Gosh, this is going to really impact my family in the future. Nick and MTV have really brought joy to me and yes, my family for over 7 years. We always watch shows such as SpongeBob, Avatar, and Ridiculousness to make us chuckle and to get along better. Now that may never happen again. I know that their other ways for us to be together and get along, but to be honest if it weren't for these shows I wouldn't want to be an animator. And to be honest, I would want that same feeling for kids of the future. Thus why I dislike the removal of these channels...
That's really upsetting. I remember having Direct TV in 2007 - 2009. Direct TV was how I found out about a lot of interesting programs and channels (most are defunct now). They also offered programs from the east coast and west coast. I live in NY, I remember switching to what was being given on the west cost late at night to rewatch what I had watched 3 hours before on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney, etc... at 12am when Nick@nite & AdultSwim was airing in NY time.
Honestly, those who are interested in DirectTV, it's expensive as all hell and be prepared to lose cable when it rains.

It’s like “oh no direct tv is getting rid of Viacom channels” “You won’t be able to watch any of these shows and you’ll miss everything.” “The only way to fix this is to tell Direct tv not to get rid of them” like how is that going to help. So glad that I got rid of cable and got Hulu live tv instead, even though their are no Viacom channels.

My family's own Comcast/XFINITY since 2008 when we were still on the east coast time zone and we've NEVER had a Keep ViacomCBS panic attack on our provider

I just got a Viacom ad promo on CZcams to tell AT&T not to drop the channels
Cable One got rid of Viacom stations all together back in 2014 and replaced them with Sprout "now Universal Kids", Hallmark, Sundance, etc., not sure if they ever got the Viacom stations because I switched to DirecTV in fall of 2014.

Didnt this happen back in like 2012? I remember this or something similar happening back then specifically. All of the nickelodian channels were removed for a while (don't remember how long) but they ended up coming back.

I'm literally watching Nick all the time. Before I head to school just to watch random reruns of George Lopez/Goldbergs until spongebob is on, & late at night if I have nothing else to do I watch (what usually is) spongebob on nicktoons. Even though I can simply watch them online whenever I please, watching it on Nick just gives me happy nostoliga- If they fr drop Nick out I'm gonna be hella upset :,(
I remember some time ago, I saw a similar message while watching a Tigers game on Fox Sports Detroit, claiming that Spectrum, which is my provider, was about to remove the channel. Naturally I was concerned and called the number on the screen. I was told that they were in the process of negotiating a new contract, and I'm fairly certain we still have FSD at my house. Since then I've wised up and come to assume that most of these ads are probably just a bunch of overblown hype and that the providers will probably make a new agreement that will allow the channels in question to remain.

Spectrum still has spongebob. I went to Hawaii and when I stayed in the resort in Hawaii, they have spectrum on the tv and when I checked on spectrum, they still have spongebob.

I don’t think it’s a lie, on both of Thier official social media accounts. They do say they are working a negotiating a new contract. Viacom wants AT&T to lower bills while keeping the channels. And DirecTv doesn’t want to spend more money!
