It’s always disappointing to hear people discuss this album divorced from its celebration of Queer culture. I think discussing Renaissance without discussing how Queer it is, is a disservice to the work and intention of the album.

I think what “threw us off” , with the. Acts was she said she recorded 3 projects during quarantine. And we know the visuals for Act 1 were filmed in June- July. That’s why I think Acts II - III are albums.
How is it contrarian to believe Beyoncé is overrated in ones own opinion? I celebrate the fact that she is an entertaining performer and a groundbreaking artist especially as a black woman, and I’ve often been tuned in to what she does because of the hype surrounding her…but I’m never excited to listen to her music in my own time.
Because what are you basing her being overrated on? She meets the standard as an artist, vocalist and entertainer. She executes what she does efficiently every time. Even if she’s not your personal cup of tea, you cannot deny that she’s objectively excellent at what she does. She’s in a league of her own where she can do what many of her peers can and can’t do. And her peers are forever changing because she’s managed to remain relevant through 3 decades outlasting them. Music has changed drastically throughout that time but Beyoncé has remained a force to this day. She’s fairly rated. Anyone that says Beyoncé is overrated isn’t being objective. They just wanna sound different lol
