I cannot watch, listen to or even think about Rush without missing the music, the era, and most of all, the man himself. Neil was to drums, what Eddie Van Halen was to guitar- he simply set the bar higher, influenced and entire generation of musicians, and changed the way they the instrument was perceived and played. What he, Alex and Geddy created will never be duplicated. Or equalled. If you could read this, thank you Neil. As a player and as a person, you will always be missed, and never be forgotten.
Agreed, Chris! Hard to explain or justify to someone that "doesn't get it" how influential Neil and King Edward both were on their respective instruments! They somehow ended up with the talent of thousands of people compressed into them! Somewhere there were people walking around who couldn't keep a beat or strum a tune on guitar because all their talent was stolen and put into these two guys!!! 😂 But, jokes aside, these gentlemen were true giants, pioneers, innovators, game changers.....you run out of words!! May they both rock in peace!!
His celebrity status never seemed to change who he was as a person but it’s not like I knew him personally to have anything to compare how he was before he became famous to how he was after he became famous.
We've lost some of the greatest musicians over the past few years: Kieth Emerson RIP, Greg Lake RIP, and the Professor Niel Peart RIP. They were all the greatest.
What impresses me most about this solo is that most of it was improvised. Neil said himself that many of the solos from this tour were improvised. This just shows how great of a drummer and a musician he was. We still miss you Neil!
What an amazing talent he was. Always innovating, stretching his skills and breaking new ground in the world of percussion. On top of all that, he was a humble, gifted writer and philosopher. A true Renaissance man.
Perfection. Brings tears of appreciation...First time I saw Rush was 40 years ago, Signals Tour, at the Madison Square Garden. Our friends parents drove us. They have been my favorite band since. Taking my son to see them when he was the same age as my first time witnessing the magic was beautiful 🥲
From a young boy in 1976, I feel in love with this babe but most of all Neil Peart. I started using wooden spoons and tupperware and moved on to drum sets. Unfortunately drugs overpowered me and I was sent to prison but I never forgot or quit listening to and seeing Rush upon my release. I am sorry to hear Neil did not believe in an after life but he will always remain my hero!
Neal Peart...the greatest drummer ever...R.I.P. I speak for all of the Rush fans who are truly saddened by the passing of this legend....we know you're watching from heaven...miss you 👍🙏🙌
The video sync with Buddy Rich at 8:00 still gives me goosebumps. Just incredible! Thank you for all the great memories, Professor. You are appreciated and missed.
Can you imagine what his right hemisphere’s (pun intended!) doing? Sucking Glucose like a fire hydrant and glowing like St.. Elmo’s FIRE…!!!! Neil was made & destined for this EXACT MOMENT and PLACE IN TIME. PERFECTION & BRILLIANCE MIXED WITH AWE…. R.I.P. Neil Peart! May The Wind Always Be At Your Back and The Sun Shine ALWAYS ON YOUR FACE!!! 🇨🇦🇺🇸
HOT Dammed!! He sure loved giving that Buddy Rich tribute ending and it was always awesome!! Just a thing of Beauty!! Thanks Neil and Rush for the most awesome music! ;)
I still love and miss Neil. Definitely a huge influence on my drums and the way I play. I originally started playing every bass line from Geddy and moved on to drums Thanx bro see ya on the other side.
Half-assed 20% playing Neil Peart it's still better than any drummer on the planet Earth at 100% forget about it alrighty greatest drummer that ever lived Neil Peart also drunk Legends Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa Neil Peart idols you can tell Neil style from Jean and Buddy all three of my mother said there was no better drummer than those three even the Germans you see now that are awesome can't hold a candle and Neil Peart Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa rest in peace guys are awesome we love you Neil Peart🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰💀💀💀💀💀💀😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
The best way to judge the greatest is that his sound is unique and still has the skills to play any style in the planet. By that criteria this guy is simply the greatest. Screw Bonham, Peart can play Bonham in his sleep and Bonham can’t even dream of playing like Peart!
Niel, the master indeed. A car load of buddies went to Dayton Ohio to see them when they were playing Rush 2112. The guy that was driving turned the wrong way on I 71. Thankful he didn't get us killed or pulled over lol4
He is "The Professor" of drums. He switches into literally every single drum form pose to hold a drum stick and utilizes every single drumming medium created during this solo. What a legend.
As a drummer, I wonder if non drummers understand how good he really was. One of the best ever, period. However, having played drums, his pain was obvious to me in his latter years. Goodbye, master.
NOT Sorry to say Live in concert 12 times...Always A GOOD RUSH❣️ By far a step above the rest for 50+ years❣️ Professor's of Music Three Man Band sounded like a symphony orchestra live. Always A GOOD RUSH ❣️ ALWAYS REMEMBERED NEVER FORGOTTEN PS Disney world Tahiti Village with The Beatles John Lennon Goerge Harrison Rocking out with the boys Eddie Van Halen,MJ, Prince all Legends of Rock❣️ Rock and Roll will never die ROCK ON❣️😎🌉✌️
The most musical drummer the world has ever seen, plain and simple.
I cannot watch, listen to or even think about Rush without missing the music, the era, and most of all, the man himself. Suddenly you were gone,
From all the lives you left your mark upon...
R.I.P. The Master. And thank you.
The Late DentArthurDent.....”I remember.....”I feel the way you were”
From my favorite album. Good one.
agree!!
He was a giant at the kit, but an even bigger giant of a human being. R.I.P.
His celebrity status never seemed to change who he was as a person but it’s not like I knew him personally to have anything to compare how he was before he became famous to how he was after he became famous.
agree!

The best drummer that ever walked the face of the earth
Damn Skippy
Some people could practice all their lives and not be as talented as him. He definitely had the "it" factor
Indeed...
Multitalented, percussionist, lyricist, graphic artist etc., etc.. He set a standard and IMHO, is beyond category. May he RIP🤘🏼🥁
I gotta concur.
RIP the greatest
They’ll never be another!!! RIP Professor 🙏🙏🙏
We've lost some of the greatest musicians over the past few years: Kieth Emerson RIP, Greg Lake RIP, and the Professor Niel Peart RIP. They were all the greatest.
And now Taylor Hawkins.

I can improvise on a drum kit too. It’s not that hard
It’s just sticks, skin and brass
He’s a world class drummer but this solo is single stroke rolls around the kit at a medium pace, he can do way crazier stuff
ALWAYS WILL MISS YOU!!!!!
@@breakinghabits_II Please. No one wants you here. Especially me.
What an amazing talent he was. Always innovating, stretching his skills and breaking new ground in the world of percussion. On top of all that, he was a humble, gifted writer and philosopher. A true Renaissance man.
🍁Awesomeness! 👊😎✊
The Master! 🍁👍😎RIP Neal Peart 🍁😔🍁
Sophisticated camera angles, love it
Neil was true musician in every sense of the word.....and technically, those doubles; so clean, open, even, and beautiful.

R.I.P My hero....thank you for making me drum better all these years. 😔😖😫
Love and prayers to your two brothers in arms......Alex and Geddy.
The exit stage left drum solo is still my favorite.
Show of hands one is good too.

This is when Geddy & Alex are smiling in a comfy chair :)
Thank you Neil for sharing your great talent with us over the years, you will be missed :-( R.I.P. ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Just found out this evening Neil was taken by brain cancer-his drum and lyrical work with Rush will always live on.
"Bearing a gift beyond price

Why doesn't this have a million views by now? Come on CZcams algorithm!

Wow! This is the best one yet I have seen!
This was a sweet kit. I got a "tour" of the kit in 2009. Was able to get a used head signed by Neil and a pair of used sticks. Thanks Lorne!
My best friend in high school played identical to the greatest drummer ever to live. They broke the mold with this one
As a drummer, I wonder if non drummers understand how good he really was. One of the best ever, period. However, having played drums, his pain was obvious to me in his latter years. Goodbye, master.

What a guy, the master.
Thanks for sharing the Good RUSH❣️✌️🌉😎
Does everyone know that he wrote much of the lyrics for Rush as well? Amazing!
Pretty much every Rush fan knows that.
He also had a long time writing partner in Novelist Piere DuBoise.
Agree!
Anyone who followed Rush knows he wrote the lyrics for every song since he joined the band. His books outside the band were good as well.
Love the Ode to Buddy at the end!
The man..
S&A, the Gorge what’s not to like, from the first time of many times from 1976… ALWAYS
