A lot of people didn't catch that he is talking about the standardized label is made to fuck you as a new artist and that the entire thing is bad. He loses money making music at this point which is a strong point and thats not even doing the math. with the heavy distribution fee, reserve held, distribution-marketing-promo having to come off the top not even counting the labeling promo, recording and other production expenses being modest you're already in the hole at the start if you don't have a big following. There is definitely a better way without as many middle men and with all parties winning but him proposing this could change the entire game.

Kanye's beef with the music industry is legit but its only because artists go to the labels broke that this happens. You trade your masters for advances. Once an artist gets wealthy and successful (mostly off the work the labels have done distributing and marketing the work) then they complain about being taken advantage of. If the album flops, the label takes the financial hit...not the artist (who got an advance payment). So while its a legit argument, its moot. The distribution and marketing model is different in this era, Kanye is right there as well, but if you sign a contract to get paid then you have to give up something to the label. The best thing to do is go full independent. Fuck the labels.

Honestly this interview was one of the best ones. He made a really good point especially when he proposed how much is the earth worth. Where is the money actually going. The thought of them just keeping the money instead of distributing it because they don't want others to get more power is pretty good. If you bought up everything some of these companies have (land,buildings etc) it still wouldn't equal to what the company is worth because it is meant to be unobtainable just so you can never reach it.

Kanye communicates in stream of consciousness monologues. He’ll say something that resonates with me and then completely lose me all in the same breath.
Joe’s facial expression, is one of constant confusion. Fundamentally Kanye lacks an ability to clearly and concisely communicate. He goes on so many tangents, his thoughts often come across as incomprehensible.
He obviously is off his meds/need to reevaluate them. He is missing so many cues from Rogan and even if he has a good message, it wont reach its goal this way.
If you allow someone to speak uninterrupted, they all will fly off to different tangents. This is not unique to him.

kanye there's a law that protects any patients information when involved with healthcare and that makes the hospital/medical company at risk of lawsuits. you aren't stupid man that has nothing to do with your conspiracies.
That's why he started hesitating and changed the subject when Joe tried to ask him more about it. He really thought he could skirt around the facts and make it appear like more than it was. Although I was disappointed in Joe for stroking his ego and not challenging him more throughout the interview i'm glad he pressed him on that.
Kanye's beef with the music industry is legit but its only because artists go to the labels broke that this happens.
You trade your masters for advances. Once an artist gets wealthy and successful (mostly off the work the labels have done distributing and marketing the work) then they complain about being taken advantage of.
If the album flops, the label takes the financial hit...not the artist (who got an advance payment). So while its a legit argument, its moot.
The distribution and marketing model is different in this era, Kanye is right there as well, but if you sign a contract to get paid then you have to give up something to the label.
The best thing to do is go full independent. Fuck the labels.
TRANSLATION = I owe the labels a lot of money, so instead of me starting fresh & take my money to create music I own myself, I’m going to figure out a way for the labels to still own what’s no there’s, while future artists have to be taken advantage of indefinitely, while I just look out for myself

Honestly this interview was one of the best ones. He made a really good point especially when he proposed how much is the earth worth. Where is the money actually going. The thought of them just keeping the money instead of distributing it because they don't want others to get more power is pretty good. If you bought up everything some of these companies have (land,buildings etc) it still wouldn't equal to what the company is worth because it is meant to be unobtainable just so you can never reach it.
You really just have to watch the video twice to get it.

After watching this clip, I do want to watch the entire interview.
It’s plain to see/hear, Kanye is intelligent, interesting, genuine & exudes this kind of zeal & def passion.
I will say, my interest in the full interview is all the more heightened by his speech pattern. He becomes sorta difficult to follow but it’s not as though he’s confused or speaking in complete word salad. He can backtrack, reword & restate, if the listener couldn’t follow.
I’m curious to see, if that’s just his mannerism or if it’s just brought out by certain topics or scenarios.
It feels like he’s pretty solid in his opinions, beliefs & ideas. His train of thought is well exercised, so there’s no time spent creating a new pathway.
