Foul play only considers the target's attack stat and direct stat modifiers; other modifiers such as Choice Band are considered for the user, not the target. So for instance you can add insult to injury by applying Burn to the target and then using Foul Play, since as you're not Burned so you won't get the half power modifier.
@@DerToasti foul play is supposed to be like how people can use their enemies momentum against them, it wouldn't make much sense for a burn to affect that interaction
Pledge moves are my favourite in pokemon. Having a built in After You that calls a 150bp move and sets a field condition just goes so hard on paper (and some practice)
I knew all of these because I've gotten lost trawling through Bulbapedia many times, but some of the side effects are new and interesting to me. For example: I had no idea the splash damage from Flame Burst would bypass destiny bond and endure. I'd love another one of these videos. On a similar topic, how about a video like this about Z-Moves? I just found out today that Z-Destiny Bond also acts as a redirector like Follow Me.
@MattBudYT I think I speak for a lot of us when I say you should do some more long form. I tend to listen to these videos when I'm making dinner or whatever else.
@@gaara8014 just wanted to get a quick one out during this busy week for me. I think for a follow up I will cover the rest of the attacks with unique effects. Probably a 25-30 minute video depending on how many I find.
body press single-handedly made zam viable and acrobatics was apparently a giant nuke when flying gem was used, especially good for the unburden mons. i’ve seen twin needle mentioned since it’s the only bug type move that poisons and can poison steel types without corrosion i believe. i’m surprised nature power wasn’t on here either. i don’t think any other move changes type based on location or secret power either. i wonder if moves like guard split count or pysch up. then again moves like heart swap and spectral thief do that but better and the video is specifically attacks. the dlc in swsh had some special moves mainly to counter gigantamax mons. i wonder how many of those are unique if any. i don’t remember all of them.
This is just a small amount of unique moves, there will be follow ups made! Twin needle could poison steel types in gen 2 but now it is unable unfortunately😔
weakness policy galarian slowking. fling a petaya berry at it and set up trick room. Then launch +3 stab spread belches or whatever appropriate coverage. this might actually be decent
Hidden Power has a unique effect in Legends Arceus that it will always change its time to be super-effective against the target Funny enough I hardly see anyone talking about it
My guy finds the most unique ideas with his videos. Kudos bud! Absolutely make a part 2 please. You could just make a whole video of dark type moves like Beat Up and Fling and Throat Chop etc because every single Dark type move has some kind of extra effect and a lot of them are unique. Also honourable mentions to Dragon Darts being the only move with smart targeting, and Feint breaking through protect.
A notable thing about acrobatics back in the day, you could run acrobatics with a flying gem. The flying gem would be consumed, doybling acrobatics damage, THEN it checks if you have an item, doubling it again. Making a flying nuke with no real downside, as you keep doubled acrobatics afterward.
We need more moves like body press and gyro ball that do more damage based on something other than atk and spatk and give them to more bulky mons I can see a very fast but weak electric type have a electric move that does damage based on speed. Blissey using her hp stat to deal damage in some sort of hp based egg move.
@@MattBudYT it'd make glass cannon mons want to go as fast as possible to get as many mons down before gassing out. Add a lot more stragety That or more freeze dry like attacks with a special super effective damage against a different type.
Gyro Ball and Electro Ball don’t use speed as you’re attacking stat like Body Press, they just compare the difference with your opponent to determine the base power. A move that uses speed would be cool but I want a psychic special version of Body Press first for Spdef
Here’s some you could add in a part two: Stone Axe attacks the opponent while setting up stealth rocks. Ceaseless Edge attacks while setting up spikes. Uproar makes it so that no Pokemon can fall asleep for three turns after being used. Upper Hand will only go first if the opponent uses a priority move. Dragon cheer boosts the crit rate of any dragon types on your team. Perish Song will make any Pokemon who has stayed on the field five turns after hearing it faint. Sucker Punch and Thunderclap both are priority moves that attack the opponent if they are using an attacking move, but Sucker Punch is physical, and Thunderclap is special, so I think it makes a difference. Vacuum Wave is the only special attacking priority move (I can think of besides Thunderclap), making it a really unique move. Shell Trap protects the user, and attacks any Pokemon that attacks the user. Shed Tail switches out the user and sets up a substitute for the Pokemon coming in using its own health. Hyper Drill BREAKS protect and hits through it. Twin Beam is the only multi-hit special move (that I can think of, not including pre-physical/special split, which I don’t even think impacts it). Scale Shot attacks and increases speed while lowering defense. Power-Up Punch is the only attacking move I can think of with a guaranteed chance to increase an attacking stat while using it. Gigaton Hammer can’t be used twice in a row. Glaive Rush is high power, but you will take 2x damage the next turn. Population Bomb attacks TEN TIMES, and doesn’t stop unless an attack misses. Triple Axel hits three times, with each hit dealing increasing damage (which also causes Pokemon AI to act funny when it’s in a moveset). Spore is the only 100% accurate sleep move. Expanding Force will hit both opponents in a double battle when used on psychic terrain. Hydro Steam is the only water type move to be boosted in power in harsh sunlight (would be interested to see if it works in Desolate Land). Hold Hands is completely useless, but really cute. I guess Splash is also useless, but Hold Hands is a doubles move. Relic Song changes the form of the user, and also changes between physical and special upon use. There’s probably a TON more.
Belch/natural gift + harvest + sunny day. Harvest brings back the consume berry + sunny day makes the create berry guarantee from 50% to 100%. Able to spam the high power belch until it PP is gone.
Would love to see a follow up with some other obscure attacks. Feel like spotlight HAS to be mentioned. Only in gen 7, only learned by 5 evolution lines, and would need a bizarre strategy to make work. Just a strange attack overall
Another problem with Trump Card is that barely any Pokemon learn it and the ones that do, do so at very high levels, way too high to be used in-game before the credits.

Tbh that's silly and against the move's concept. They should change it so that it's as if the opponent attacked themselves.
