If this is about the first thing you saw as per vans--- you really lucked out.
These guys are simple and direct yet thorough and not sooo out there that you can't do something similar. Nor so cheap it looks like they are camping in a thrift store for the night.
Good, practical style, with current colors, etc.
(But i would have installed a much larger sink! And a freezer the same size as the fridge. As well as killer AC! But I'm going to the desert! That spray in foam is the BEST! I might install radiant floor heat--- just for even heating so no fumes or smell or CO2. And a sound system and maybe a tv but i haven't had one in my condo for over 5 years so maybe not!)

This should really help anyone considering doing a conversion. I'd say 80% of anyone's costs can be quantified in advance but it's so easy to just jump in without doing those sums. So many unfinished projects out there when cash ran out. One tactic is to build the basics but allow the needed space for extras later. The Espar D2 is a great example.....run the ancilliaries for it....power cables, fuel line, hot air pipe all for under a £100 ...leave space for the main unit and controller which together cost £1000 and buy it when you have the extra cash. (Check with the dealer that your chosen equipment locations are viable.) You guys did a great job on the van both design and build management. It's really generous of you to share this financial info....can't have been an easy thing to share. So many people who have no clue of what these items cost or what value they bring to the mobile home, will judge you harshly. Not everyone has that kind of money to spend and that can make a person feel jealousy. That's no fault of yours. Happy travels everyone. John

I met one guy in a car meet I went to, he bought an old WV T5 for 4,100 EUR, bought a new engine and swapped it all for a total of only 1,200 EUR, spent approx 1,500 EUR on aesthetics and fully converted it into the most amazing, cleanest-looking "stand-in-camper" for only 4,300 EUR and that's with an permanently extended hard top thingy with built in windows. He did all that for less than 12-13k EUR... That's what expired me to buy a van and start with my own build, I even have the similar budget of 15k EUR for this project! Don't let this discourage you guys, you can get away with less than 5,000 EUR and still have a luxury looking camper build!

But i'll get there.. it's mot easy to rent, it cost more and you can't even design it according to your liking..and not insure that the owner won't kick you out or something.. I was in a situation several times that i have to move out and downpaymnt is a pain in the ass. Hopefully soon, i'll get to have my own home. Seattle is very expensive to live especially to buy. So, it's better to live in alternative housing for a while and save money and as they are traveling throughout the country they will discover places that offer a lot more for less and may decide to settle down there. What I like about this couple and their lifestyle is freedom and convenience because if something happens to either of their parents they can leave and be there for them and have their home with them. They can stay as long as they like because one person isn't stuck back at an over expensive apartment and worrying about rent and other problems. Her school classes are online and so is his work. If they stayed in Seattle she might have chosen more traditional schooling and photography jobs that would have made her tided to that location. This van life puts them in a position that few others have.

Thank you so much for the transparency and information you not only provided but the impeccable detail of explanation you gave everyone here. You guys eliminated so much of my anxiety and stress.
I have a couple questions for you both though if you guys can answer them: do you both have medical insurances and how much is your monthly food budget given you guys travel so much? I know this may vary according where you are in the country as store prices goes up or down. Could you give your viewers an estimate for your average food budget per month? Thanks guys!

One thing that I’m sure is on peoples mind (and may of already been asked), what did you do with all your stuff from your apartment? Paying for storage? Also, how often are you having to pay for parking/camping your van? Some of those hidden expenses, ya know?
Thanks. Great video! Thanks for being transparent! I’m like him, I don’t want to share my personal info but my wife on the other hand wants to share to help others. Once I’m done with my 2nd van build, I’ll be sharing it on my page. I too am from Seattle but my van has to carry our kids which you don’t see much of in the van-build videos!

Hi Y'all! I would love to see videos about the pacific northwest or exploring that region. It's my dream to live up there but unfortunately, I'm in college down in the Lone Star state. I know y'all do a lot of traveling so you might not be there,, but if you ever find yourself back in Washington or Oregon and are able to film some videos about it, it would make my day! It would also allow me to live vicariously through your experiences and exploring but that's neither here nor there 😂. Thank you so much!!!

I say, if you got the $ and it is your home, spare no expense. You gotta live inside every day. Winter in the Pacific Northwest can be very cold and damp. You have done a magnificent job, looks great and serves a purpose, your home and office. You invested in the areas that are crucial when doing what you do. You got the biggest one out there. How is the gas mileage?? Off road? not much clearance under there. Stay safe out there.

thats not to bad for all high quality parts and products those on a tighter budget could do the same for half or even less, won't look as good or maybe as efficient as you guy's but still get the job done. Many things could be bought second hand also.
For your tires look online many sell good used KO2's for half the price as new that would set you up fast.
great break down love the set up.

I think that price is fair considering that a lot of people will pay that for a brand new car that they just drive to and from work. As you said, you are living in it and working in it and getting to travel. That is much cheaper than a factory-made one. Good on you.

25k is not bad at all! You would may pay that for rent somewhere per year
When you were saying it was a lot I thought it would be something like 100k
When I’m a bit older I already have life planned out haha I’m going to do a van conversion based of your interior to be honest and then get a little puppy as I wouldn’t want to be adventures on my own!
