- The video was taken inside The Dad's Army museum whilst on a day out. Although Dad's Army was set in a fictional town called Walmington on Sea on the Sussex Coast, it was actually filmed in Thetford in Norfolk. It aired from on 31 July 1968 - 13 November 1977.
Absolutely fascinating. I had no idea this museum existed. Thank you.😊
My pleasure. I'm happy you liked it
My dear old dad - who, at time could be like Captain Mainwaring, even addressing me as 'Boy!', was in The Home Guard in Bournemouth - Westbourne to be precise - before he was called up. He used to say to me, 'You laugh at 'Dad's Army, but there's a great deal of truth in it'. I later discovered that David Croft was in the ARP in Bournemouth around the same time as dad. No wonder he got it so right. One of the funnier stories he told me of The Home Guard concerned their marching down the street - putting on a bit of a show - with marching music to give it all an atmosphere, which was provided by an old gramophone with scratchy old records, complete with sound horn and placed on the back of the flatbed of a truck!
Thanks for the information
My old dad was in Shropshie Home Guard. He often remarked how true to reality the programme was. He kept some of his kit for years. We played with his tin helmet and a gas mask. I know he had a Lee Enfield rifle which had been converted to fire 2.2 bullets. He said it would not of stopped anyone. Joness bayonet would have been far more effective
Thanks for the comment
lovely
Thanks
The james beck model looks more like geroge cole
The figures are a lot more Louis Tussaud's than Madame Tussaud's.
“stupid boy!”
Brilliant
NEVER try to do remakes! They're ALWAYS pathetic.
Any support actors still alive today ??? 🤔
No. Ian Lavender passed away the other week, so there are no more Dad's Army actors alive
@@JamesChewter-zk7pg Supporting Actors not the main cast ....
@@PhilipKerry even the supporting actors are deceased
what about the bloke that played the Vicar?
If you mean Frank Williams, he died the other year.
Thanks for the wonderful comments on my Dad's Army Museum video. I'm glad you like it.
