Did I miss anything you consider important? What lore video would you like to see next?
AVOID THE COMMENTS! People be posting spoilers everywhere.
Would love to see your take on some book series in a "how it should have ended" style.
Giles pronounced Jiles.
you honestly should have mentioned Ivy, and the unseelie accords, expecially because ivy is, just herself, a signatory and has the effective political clout as a full on faction/nation
Malazan would be a good one
I know your not a big fan of the series but I’d love your take on lore from A Song of Ice and Fire
You forgot the most important faction: The Pizza Guard.
All Hail the 'Za Lord!
the Za lords guard is Dresden's faction lol
@@movarie Get them to California, I can buy them off with a Toppers' Pizza XP
Best faction EVER!!!
"In the name of the Pizza Lord, Charge!". Easily my favourite quote :D
The Dresden Files. Source of the most badass/metal version of Santa Claus you will ever see.
Dave S YES!!! Better not cry better not pout. 😆😆😆😆
He’s fucking Odin
Besides Futurama
Terry Pratchett has a close second with The Hog Father, as played by Death.
Daniel: There is a Winter King, but he's not important.
Winter King: You're on the naughty list.
Alex B I don’t know who he is talking about. Kringle is a vassal of winter and I don’t remember But her ever mentioning a king.
@@lisawillis8227 as I understand it, Kringle/Odin/Santa is the Winter King much like the Goblin King is the Summer King. Mab and Titania rule their courts but the kings provide a balance....or something.
I would actually say the goblin king is more one of the neutral fae much like toot toot and the Za lord guard were before Cold Days. Now Butcher may have hinted or stated that there are fae kings but they are never mentioned or hinted at in the books whenever courts are mentioned in the books.
Kringle/Donar Vaderung/Odin as Kringle tells Dresden that he is of Winter. But i note no comment regarding his affiliation as Vaderung/Odin. The Erlking/Gobling King/Leader of the Wild Hunt was a guest at Harry's birthday party in the Winter court. But it was mentioned in previous books that goblins were Wildfae. And while still fae, they are outside the Summer and Winter courts. I think. Lol! It's hard to keep everything straight as there are so many books and so many short stories in this series.
I only know one king in the fae world and it's the Goblin King.
No mention of the elusive Jade Court when talking about the Vamps?! One of my favorite casual nuggets given
Not really much lore yet, unless you check out original Chinese mythology
I had the same thought!
My favorite casual nuggets isn't from the books it is from the RPG. There is a side bar from Bob hinting at Autumn and Spring Fae Courts.
Steve Knapp I wonder how many books he’s going to write lol.
Question. I’m looking for a High Fantasy series with both religious/spiritual and psychological themes. What are some really good recommendations?
He said "we're dealing with everyone from" and I was really hoping he would say from Odin to Santa Claus
mike burns but they’re the same person sooooo
That would’ve been funny lol
@@TheBralessDiaries SPOILERS!!!!! GEEZ!
Don’t forget the brilliant meeting with Hades, I love that because he is just a cool and funny guy
(probably one of the best bits for me, don’t know why just really enjoyed it)
You and me both- definitely a highlight of Skin Game.
Could be a Greek Gods faction🤔
@@rayedjualidan1504 It would be neat, but my guess is that each Olympian probably has their own agenda instead of coalescing into one faction.
My wife and I love that scene, but we are mythology nuts, and my wife's doctoral thesis is partly on Hades and Persephone so we really identify with them. I really love Butcher's rendition of Hades as a courteous, calm, mildly beleaguered, *extremely* powerful... accountant.
It'd be their bonding over their mutual dog love. Mouse 1+
James Marsders is the narrator on Audible and brings Harry Dresden to life. Exceptional at reading ALL the the characters in the series...highly recommend listening to the books!
Yes!!! It's the best!
I love them
he's got a narration voice that fits perfectly for detective novels
His Toot-Toot is the best!
Absolutely agree! NO one else can be Dresden!
Notes:
Black court is not personnel-limited on purpose. They actually used to be the strongest court. The whites saw them as too much of a threat and then started educating the human population on how to kill them and why they needed to be killed (garlic, crucifixes, wood through the heart, etc.) Humans went absolutely berserk and had decades if not centuries of slaughtering the Black court. The white court was ultimately behind the demise of the black court and have gained so much power because they unleashed the nuclear bomb of the supernatural world: educated scared masses of vanilla humans and let them just rip the enemy to shreds, no matter the cost. Getting humans involved in current state is frowned upon because we have A LOT of firepower and we’re trigger happy. We are the supernatural world’s food but we go ape-sh*t crazy when cornered and scared.
The humans are the quite literal fuel for the supernatural. Be it our beliefs that give things power or the supernatural literally feeding off of our flesh. Just an interesting point.
Thank them for telling Bram Stoker to write it.
Slight correction, it wasnt the white court of vampires that encouraged the Brem Stoker book, but the White Council of Wizards who basically did a mass printing of Dracula to publish all of the glaring weaknesses of Black Court. This is because while they are far and away the most dangerous and infact most infectious of the vampires, they are most susceptible to the the stereotypical vampire weaknesses. Hell at one point there was a garlic infused holy water super soaker that wrecked so much, magic be damned. Hence while once you know the weaknesses they turn into a very dangerous threat but one that a few mortals could handle if well prepared, and something a run of the mill mortal actually has a decent chance of surviving.
@@Connor-wt4er "Hell at one point there was a garlic infused holy water super soaker that wrecked so much"
If you are talking about the raid against Mavra, I think it was a paintball gun with the balls being filled with the holy water/garlic combo instead of paint, not a super soaker. (a super soaker would have been just as deadly, but have a shorter range and much less ammo than the paintball gun.)
@@Connor-wt4er Realistically, the only way that any vanilla mortal could beat a black court vampire if they knew its weaknesses is if the vamp is very young, the human catch it by surprise and that the person has allies.
These things can move so fast that it's impossible to see them on a security camera. That's a distance of 30ft in 1/60 of a second. Most people would be hard pressed to see them let alone hit them.
And if the vamp is experienced and is at least a sorcerer then we'll you either need a mob of thousands or a superhuman like kincaid.
@@alexquin4001 Luckily the black court also has the weakness for not handling sunlight. So the humans could just come in during the day and not run as big a risk for being surprised while they stuffed their sleepy faces with garlic ^^
I figure you're keeping this spoiler-free for newer readers, but there's so many more groups I find fascinating (the Forest people, Vaaterung, the Fomor).
Side note: Technically, half vampires don't turn until they kill someone by feeding, not just feeding for the first time.
Is it cliche that the senior council is given the title Merlin? not really because the original Merlin, THE Merlin, founded it.
That is like calling the president the George
Oh, but who was THE Merlin? Is it someone we know?
But think about it. With all of the mantels and how they work. Why would not you have your main leader grab hold of a title that is believed/talked about, etc, by the whole world? I would not be surprised if whoever becomes the Merlin got a huge power increase after taking the role.
@@zanvoy6848 It's like calling the rulers of Rome Caesar. I see no issue with it.
@@compliancelord1259 Oh, that's a good point. It might also wear on them, sort of like the winter knight mantle does on harry. I wonder how much of the Merlin's actions might have been more affected by that than peabody's ink?
I would be one of Toot-Toot’s team. Pizza!!
This series will definitely be hitting the Pre-Peace Talks/Battle Ground spot
Next week...
Jade Court of vampires. Mentioned by Shiro in Death Masks.
In interviews he has said they are too insular to ever show in the Dresden files. While he could be kidding on that I find it unlikely.
Daniel why do you do this to my wallet, first you convinced me to read the Cosmere, then the Wheel of Time, and now I want to read Dresden File because of you, my wallet has its limit Daniel...
Second hand bookstore my man, or library? Guess both might be taboo atm, but as Harry says, "there is always a choice."
the Dresden files are worth it friend!
The best part of TDF is the audiobooks too, so make sure you add that to the list
@@HashtagWhattaNerd I have to second this. The audiobooks are absolutely amazing!
Another series to check out is monster hunter international also iron druid chronicles your wallet can hate me.
Dresden is a member of the white council, hell he's a full grey cloak warden, so definitely NOT a fringe mage
SPOILERS:Damnit Dresden is many things up to book 15 in the beginning however he just wants to be left alone....
@@tilljagodzinski9331 in the beginning he is a full fledged wizard in the Council though. That's why he has the Doom of Damocles and the personal interest of Donald Morgan.
Spoilers for battlegrounds.
This was pure prophetic for the end of battlegrounds.
The Blackened Denarius are the coolest faction in Drezdens, and Harry's most terrifying opponents.
So ill take one of dem coins plz
It seems like a lot of people who pick up Coins don't hold them long, in large part because several of the Fallen appear to regard the bearers of their Coins as little more than disposable meat puppets (or possibly even worse - see Ursiel). Whether or not those represent a majority of the Fallen, their Coins _are_ the ones most likely to be available at any given time.
But even if you luck out and get one of the "long game" Fallen, most of the Denarians we see spend a lot of time in the passenger seat watching their Fallen drive.
I am rereading the books at the moment and I can't wait for them to be introduced again
This didn't age well (in terms of most terrifying opponent)
@@jefffarrell7066 i shit you not i finished skin game like an hour after writing that comment. Butters is the new most terrifying character now that Nicodemus got humbled
If you pickup the coin you become a host fir the entity in the coin. Effectively -YOU don’t exist anymore. Wanna rethink the picking up the coin idea again?
how can you discuss all the factions, without mentioning "The Unseelie Accords"
and the most famous "Accorded Nuetral Ground" Mac's pub????
damn right
The Accords aren't a faction, they're an agreement that keeps the factions from going Hot War on each other.
When you get into the Alphas, you will also have to mention the different types of werewolves. Like the vampires they are not all alike.
Yeah, the Werewolves in Dresden are fascinating. Running a campaign in Dresden, I have a pack of Lycanthropes like the Alphas (For people just getting into it, Lycanthropes are people that just transform mentally. Think Viking Berserkers.) Except they're a biker gang that each served in the Marines. And going further with the theme Marcone set, while unabashed and unrepentant criminals, they're distinctly a force for stabilizing their city. Just for the most part, they lean towards good.
Definitely this. We spent an entire book on this (and early in the series) and yet it’s not mentioned in depth?
I started the Dresden files because of your recommendation a week ago. It was a great start, looking forward to seeing this world expand. Thanks.
Dresden files turned from an ok series to one of my favorite books series
Slight correction. The Half turned of the Red Court of vampires are not those that have not fed on human blood. They are those who have not taken a human life while feeding.
Ooooo…. I was watching this thinking the Red Court procreates by having infected “surrender to the beast” so to speak. (Been a while since I’ve read the books) Like, a bite infects and a feeding turns.
Excellent video. I have been a Jim Butcher since June 2000, when I picked his first book in an airport and red it on flight to job interview. Finish the book while waiting on stand by in the Orlando airport. (Missed my flight due to the interview going way too long, got the job) Airport was a mess due to ending of cheerleading competition at Disney. Spend 6 hour in an airport with Dresden novel and all the cheerleaders and their families is something you don’t forget. Yes the parents are worse. Now a days I travel with my headphone and every audible book Jim Butcher has done.
My favorite summary of dresden files was my summary at 2 in the morning trying to explain it to a friend, I actually said: "Uhhh, so basically there's the gandalf foundation, the vampires from twilight, dracula, tooth fairies and demons. Also there are 20 other ones. But they're all evil. All of them."
Great list! Though you can add a few more: 1. Also, the organisation that fights the Oblivion War, led by Archive; 2. Fomor
The Venatori are not led by the Archive, she informs them whether someone is stirring things up regarding the Oblivion war
Venatoei and Venatori umbrorum is one of the coolest reveals, and I'm glad he didn't explain it in this videos. Everyone deserves to have an unspoiled experience when they read that short.
There is no oblivion war, and the fomor are ploilery, because of the reason they come into prominance.
Yes that's exactly what we need.
A Great video. Please give us more lore videos in the future.
I saw a good description of Butcher's interpretation of fantasy somewhere, it's the storytelling trope of Fantasy Kitchen Sink, literally anything and everything could be included
So glad you gave D/F books a second go all that time ago....... makes me happy so thanks lol
so there are some Factions at Play Daniel missed, that may or may not be essential in the coming book inclusive Signatory status in the Unseele Accords (s) signatory, (n) nonsignatory, (u) unknown
Vampires: Jade Court (s),
Fae Factions: Wyld Fea, the Za Guard, the Wild Hunt
Wizards and other "Human" Factions: Gray Council(n), "Black Council"(n), Venatori(u), Deciples of Kemmler(n), the Paranet(n)
notable other Races: Fumori(s), Svaralfn(s), individual Dragons(s) and gods or Pantheons and their Organisations
[Edit] Kepler into Kemmler thanks Oak
Hey, we don't talk about the venators.
Kemmler, I believe.
Not Kepler.
Commenting while watching. It's not cliche that The Merlin is called The Merlin, because the position (and council) was founded by the actual Merlin. :)
It doesn't matter whether or not it is explained inside the books, it still is a cliché.
That's like calling the president The George.
A lampshaded cliche is still a cliche.
It works. It's played well.
But it's still a cliche.
Maybe, but Jim Butcher can take a cliche and forge it into a badass plot point.
I was hooked when I started reading the very first Dresden book when it first came out. It is the best of all the urban fantasy series by far.
Something you miss about the White Console is if you reach a a certain level of power, you HAVE TO JOIN!
These deep dive type videos may be my favourit of your channel, with the exeption of the videos about your novel ! So yup, more of that please ^^
Can't wait for peace talks. Only realised battle grounds is following it up so quickly. It's great we're getting so much after the long wait
Just finished peace talks... i liked it, but somehow it felt unfinished... i guess because of the conflict that is brewing. Maybe like an intermission that you REALLY don't want to take.... just give me more please!
I love this style you have going here, and on a side note you are a excellent role model/example for other people with dyslexia can do with some time and hard work.
One of the best videos you've made in along time. Amazing work! Makes me want to read dresden even more
As a loooong time fan of this series, I’m really impressed with how you condensed these factions into such digestible bites. Not easy to do as there is just a ton of information to break down. 👍
Just bought the first book. And this video pushed me to do that. How you were able to describe and explain these factions and how they work got me so excited that I couldn’t stop myself.
I love these kind of videos!!! They are so great for making me interested in reading a specific book/series
Moving is exhausting, so congrats on getting settled! Thanks for this video -- I'm starting The Dresden Files this summer, so this is quite helpful.
”There is no real gatekeeping in the Dresden files”
Sad Rashid noises…
Awesome video. Love the Dresden lore and factions. I really have to find the time to read the series now!
Just bought first Dresden book thanks to you, it'll be the first book I've read since I left school years back
Perfect timing. I just bought books 1-3 last night!
Hope you enjoy them as much as I did and still do
Another great series that i started reading because of you!
I will watch the hell out of every Dresden Files video you make! Doesn't matter what the focus is.
Nice and clean explanation/introduction into the world of Dresden.
This was great. I somehow missed your Dresden content. Off to binge the rest!
I have a few points to make I'm sure others have made.
1. Dresden is not a fringe wizard. From the beginning of the series he is a full member of the council.
2. There are two additional groups of fae you missed. The wyldfae and the goblins & Goblin King.
3. The Fomor are a large power group also.
4. The Paranet and the Bright Future Society.
Man this is such a great primer on Dresden Files and being that there are no spoilers I think this has just become my go-to video for when people ask if they should read Dresden Files. I was apprehensive before I got into it but this would have hyped me up for the sheer scope of the world involved. Kudos sir.
One More post. I am a HUGE fan of Jim butcher and I have everything he has put out over the years, its SO awesome to see this and even haven't finish it yet I plan on watching everything Dresden you have just to help more people find this modern master of the literature world. I also recommend The Codex Alera, the series was was a challenge he accept to right a good story about Pokemon and The Lost Legion. He seems to have succeeded.
Imma need a full video on the Billy Goats Gruff my guy.
Some of his best stories are found in his 2 short story books. The bigfoot stories with River Shoulders are 2 of my favorites. Also Guard is awesome.
I'm a simple man. I see Dresden files videos, and I do algorithm things. Great video. Also, the alphas are where it's at
I just finished book 1 a couple days ago, I am very excited to learn more about the lore
If your looking into the forgotten realms books I highly recommend R.A. Salvatore and his books about the dark elf Drizzt
Drizzt was one of my first reads. My life was pretty dark as a child and it showed me that i could be more than the darkness around me. Highly recommended series.
Great summary of the factions and the wide open possibilities in the series. The fact that he folds all of these things we’re familiar with into the world has made it so much more interesting and just that much more grounded. The only group I think worthy of more here would be the Alphas. They’ve becoming increasingly important to him but I get it. Well done.
One ofy favourite series!! Im super excited for the next release in a few days!!
I would deff be a wizard. Id hope for a good mix of power and subtlety but ai feel like even without much of one the other or either an intelligent and hard working wizard could accomplish a whole hell of a lot.
This is a wonderful series that I recommend to anyone. Or would, If I knew anyone in the real world.
The blasting rod, for Mr. Dresden helps him focus that fire blasts that might burn everything around him, including himself, if he did not have the blasting rod. His rod and his staff doth comfort him.
Harry has trouble focusing some kinds of spells.
Another great video Mr. Greene. I am rather fond of mr. Marcone. I wonder if he pronounces the "e" at the end of his name. I have known some Italians who did pronounce the "e" at the ends of their names.
Damn dude you got this down. Can't wait for the many years watching you and taking your advice on books. Keep IT UP!!!!!
Im actually glad you gave this book series a chance cause i was fan of this series since and watching your videos for almost as long and im 28 now.
But honestly i cant choose my favourite faction .
Cool video, I love the Dresden Files, although you forgot to include the Jade vampire court which is much more secretive than the red, black or white, and often dealing with outside world through middlemen indirectly and operates throughout China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
Good summary! Thanks
Just imagine all these things colliding in a braingasm of awesomeness...
Karen is super important, and while not supernatural, is a total badass. Can't wait to see how their relationship develops. ..
I may be wrong, but I've always pronounced the G in Giles like a J. Hence Jiles. I've not read the series since 2012 so thank you so much, Daniel, for this catch-up summary!
Starting Dresden tomorrow on the train to work, this is great timing! Love the lore video idea.
Might just be me who had that problem, but in case it´s not just me: DEFINITELY read at least the second one. Book one didn´t catch me at all, had it lying around for two weeks only reading a few pages at a time. Luckily I had bought Book 1+2 at the same time, so I powered through and starting on book 2, I read through the rest of the series (mostly) one book a day/ two days.
Well that's great to know, thank you!
Adriana Micale The series really gets good on the third book, which is one of the best in the whole series, IMHO. The previous poster is right - Stormfront doesn’t reflect the quality of Butcher’s writing.
Got to say, love the videos, so informative.
Daniel i binged like all of your Dresden videos, staying away from spoiler stuff, and I just finished Summer Knight. Amazing. Thank you for getting me hooked!
I love that series. It is complex but fascinating.
The Lovecraftian Old Gods do exist in the Dresden Files. They are mentioned by Warden Ramirez as being real and separate from the Outsiders in the short story Cold Case. The main villains in the short story are Cultists who worship a Lovecraftian god called The Sleeper.
This video, and only this video has convinced me to pick up this series.
Great video Daniel! I'm really excited to find out how the Outsiders plot unfolds as whenever they have made an appearance throughout the Dresden Files their impact on both Harry and the world was prominent.
I’m on my 5th read through of the series and I’m still watching to support my boy lol and another refresher is never bad
Wow! So. Well. Done. I'm a Dresden junkie and you did a great job of going over the major groups. You're absolutely right that this is a seriously complex series and that he takes folklore and mythology and puts his own spin on it. He's also obviously done a ton of research, because even the most non-nerdy person could pick up one of these and understand the basic story of Odin or Mab. Don't think this is really a spoiler alert, but we Colorado fans are proud to have Jim as a new resident. And his new-ish wife's corset shop in the downtown area of Denver is amazing just to browse. So, in summation, nerd nirvana. Just finished Peace Talks and waiting for the poop to hit the circular air blower in Battle Ground. Just found your channel and looking forward to watching more of your Dresden videos. Oh....and I'd be an Alpha. ;)
LOL at 1:46, "No need for that."
I gotta admire the nice way you described Fae. In my head, it's far less polite
Fantastic summary of the most major players in the series, especially considering there are so many. Though I do think your explanation of the Outsiders gives a bit too much info for someone who hasn't read the books, explained below.
For a large majority of the series so far I'm pretty sure all we know about them are that they're Lovecraftian beings from outside our reality that are against the "Law" to summon because they're like evil anti-matter. I think it takes a *long* time before we find out the outsiders, as a group, want *in*. The conflict between them and the Fae is particularly set up as a surprise twist.
Editing in: That said, I want to repeat that it's a feat that you gave such a good concise summary of so many of the groups in these books, because like you said, Butcher really lets *everything* in!
I really enjoy the different Vampire factions in the Dresden Files. They remind me a lot of the different clans in Vampire: The Masquerade. Particularly, the parallels between the White Court and the Toreador are pretty strong.
Also, this reminds me that Bloodlines 2 is coming out soon. Very excited for that one.
Second also, I wish people would stop asking Jim Butcher about the Jade Court in his Q&A sessions. It's probably the most over-asked question I've heard. No, people, we're probably never going to see them. Maybe an emissary in the big apocalyptic trilogy. They're very isolationist and exist in a part of the world that Dresden will likely never have a reason to go to. There, answered.
Exactly, unspecific plot elements like the "Jade Court" are simply used to make the reader feel that he is reading only a small part of a much bigger world. Seems to have backfired a bit on Jim :D
It just seems unreasonable that a global organization like the White Council would never have an interactions with a unique court of vampires that hold sway over significant parts of the globe, especially since hundreds if not thousands of wizards would come from Asia where the Jade Court would be active. You would think that they would at least be used as background noise for things that other characters might be getting up to outside of the presence of the series' first-person-perspective protagonist, not unlike the "thing with that rahkshasa" that the White Council was involved in that was eventually linked to [a character I won't spoil here]. It's far more believable that there is a whole world out there that spins on without the involvement of Harry Dresden than that he's the linchpin of every major event that's going to take place in the supernatural world.
What faction would I want to be part of? The Grey Council. We've seen them in action once, and that was enough. The Blackstaff, The Gatekeeper, Odin/Santa Claus, more. Yeah, I'll be hiding behind THEM.
It was cool to watch this. I intend to get to Dresden Files eventually
Entire video is great, but that ending "John Gwynne Books" got me hyped. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on The Faitfull and the Fallen series.
Started the first book book yesterday, almost finished with it. Won't be watching this video until I'm much deeper in. Thanks for the recommendation, I'm hooked.
Love peace and good books
Well broken down. Good spoiler free coverage of the main factions. I look forward to your eventual breakdown of the main monsters, though between Winter, Summer and Wildfae, that may have to be a separate video entirely lol
Gotta love a lore dive! 😊
You forgot McAnally's pub...and Burger King.
Tbh I've always thought it would be cool to be the piano player at Mac's. I know there isn't one, so far as I'm aware, but there should be and it should be me xD
Waiting for first Dresden book to be delivered, so excited to start this series.
Thanks Daniel for yet another video, ive started this week reading fantasy and I choose this séries to start im still on the 1 book but im enjoying alot for now.
Haven't read a Dresden book in at least 7 years. You've reawakened the hunger.
there are three fae courts. Winter, Summer, and Wyld. The Wyldfae don't join with either side. They're kinda rogue fae. Most of the monsters are actually one of the three types of fae. Trolls, Ghouls, Goblins, Pixies, Centaurs, Fauns, Unicorns, Ogres are all types of fae. Then there are the creatures that are not fae, such as the various types of werewolves: loup-garou, werewolves, lycanthropes, hexenwolves, wolfmen (they only appear in one of the comics), and a random wolf that can turn into a human (wolfwere?). Bigfoots (bigfeet?), naaglosii, creatures of spirit like Bob, and ghosts, demons, genius loci, gods (although at least one is connected to the wyldfae). There's also the Jade Court of Vampires, but Butcher has gone on the record to say we will never see them because of how seclusive they are. There are also two types of dragons. Dragons and dragons. Note the capital letter. I'm not sure what the difference is, but we've only ever met a Dragon. That was at Bianca's party.
WYLDFAE Choose a side fight on when summer and winter go to war, and Michael killed a dragon.
My understanding is that Wyldfae isn't really a court, it's a term for all the unaligned fae.
@@420xanatos Michael killed a Dragon, not a dragon. they're a whole different league in that a Dragon is like a champion weight lifter that can lift 400kg, and dragon is an infant that can lift their own head off the ground.
actually Michael killed a Dragon
Okay, props for working Sinistar into the bit on outsiders :)
I just want to say i Iove that your such a big The Dresden Files fan now.
You forgot IVY!!!! The Archive is a significant force, especially because it is called in to play judge for all these factions.
I probably would have specified the lower classes of mortal practitioners and maybe mentioned the Paranet and Wildfey but otherwise pretty solid.
Wizards world with Dresden or The Faye Winter Court with Queen Mab ...Love the Harry Dresden Books by Jim Butcher ..Great job on the break down and review; on point. About to listen to Peace Talk on Audible now
I’m so glad I got into the Dresden files.
I started this series cause of you! Reading Fool moon right now
Instant sub, very good breakdown, I've been a Dresden Files fan from book one and I even watched the series 🤷♂️.
This is one of my favorite series, hands down. I think one of my favorite aspects is that of the Fae. Their complex balance and power plays are so intriguing, and even the summer Fae (who are usually though of as GOOD) aren't necessarily trustworthy or "good". They have their own set of morals and values and behave so much more like a force of nature than anything else.
I devoured the Dresden books after discovering them and it does sneak up on you just how much of a dense world he created here. He by no means launches into the deep end of the pool right away. That's one of the reasons I found them so engrossing. We as readers found out about these beings and places as Dresden did. If you re-read one of the later books it's surprising how many past references there are. Excellent world-building! I highly recommend this series!
Thanks for explaining all this. I'm on book 11 and still get confused sometimes
