Great precision. The cadence caller IS outstanding, I am thinking it is F/Sgt Petry! The lyrics were so WV centric, again impressive. Happy to see the diversity in the class-tall, short, thick, thin, male, female. That diversity will pay off well with access into so many communities and operations that only a native can pull off-CONGRATS TO ALL! After being in 30+ countries, there is nothing like being home in WV. Sometimes you escape it, learn the value of it and then yearn to return to it. WVSP were always known as one of the most professional agencies in the country and frankly the world. I pray they continue to be funded well by our politicians and given the privilege to protect all West Virginians! Semper Fi WVSP!
Great video and congratulations to all. Amazing the family members that don’t want to get out of the way. Especially guy towards the end. He is basically up in their faces. They need rule stay on the grass. There are other family members that want pics but don’t want to be rude like that guy. Again congratulations.
... this is a US military cadence re-worded --- "West Virginia -- State Trooper" "Down in the coal fields - lying in the mud" "a West Virginia State Trooper dying in his blood" - it's a song I sang every day in the 46th Cadet class - every morning & evening -- it reminded those of us what we signed up for - low pay - high sacrifice - and leaving your wife to wonder if you were coming home... It's the hardest and longest state police academy in the nation ! "...for troopers just like you and me"
i know this is a random question, but the cadence (i think thats how its spelt) whats the name of it? and where could I find a recording of it (no background audio)
I doubt you will find, even the most basic cadence 'hail hail state police' is hard to find on the internet. And every state has their own version of it. I do enjoy this cadence though.
Bradley Burleson me too, I was hoping to find a clearer version so I can have it on my phone for when I'm running, (cadences I enjoy when exercising) so thanks for the heads up, perchance do you know the name this goes by or?
I assume you are baiting folks, but in case you are not.... Basic unit order drill like this may seem wasteful but the soft skills of discipline, order, covering your partner, team building, small unit leadership ARE invaluable to these men and women, as those skills are the foundation for the profession they are entering.
Congratulations troopers. Stay safe and thank you for the services and protection you will provide.

How much time do they spend teaching them to march like that? Isn't it a bit of waste of time at the expense of other skills they need?
