- A truly global project conducted over 13 years, the Red Dress, created by Kirstie Macleod, provides an artistic platform for women around the world, many of whom are marginalised and live in poverty, to tell their personal stories through hand embroidery.
Constructed out of 73 pieces of burgundy silk dupion, the garment has been worked on by 259 women and 5 men, from 29 countries, with all 136 commissioned artisans paid for their work. The rest of the embroidery was added by 128 willing participants/audience at various groups/exhibitions/events

Would love to see Catherine in the dress to bring media attention to the dress and its story. She would be a fabulous model. Incredible story!
What a great idea!!!
Marvelous idea. I so look forward to seeing her when she is well enough to resume public duties.
Beautiful. How have I not heard about this.
Wow ! Such a powerful piece 😊this is soooooo inspiring ❤❤❤
It was lovely to see the Red Dress in Somerton… twice! Great to see the different styles of embroidery from all over the world. Well done Kirstie.
A stunning example of women’s work, and a wonderful message.
Hope the dress comes to Ottawa, in Canada. I would loooooove to see it!
My aunt's given name is the Chinese word for "red", so I thought of her when I saw that student embroidering that character onto the dress.
Very pretty 😀
🙏🎁❤️❤️❤️
I wonder how the school would have handled this project in the company of a male student. Presumably it would make no sense to include them, but i can imagine how awkward it must be to be a male pupil at RSN at this time.
I like near yours And help you👌🥰💞
