  • ‘12th Fail’ left us spellbound. The performances of Vikrant Massey (Mumbaikar, Mirzapur & Gaslight) and Medha Shankar (Shaadisthan & Dil Bekaraar) resonated with us deeply. As we watched this movie unfold, all we could see was a dreamer who dares to defy the odds to achieve his dream. This film isn’t just a standout in Indian Cinema this year, it’s a personal journey that moved me, an experience we won’t forget.

Vikrant massey stayed in the village in scorching heat to get the skin tan.
The female character sings at the roundtable, she actually sings at the actual location and the sound that’s showing in movie is actual set sound.
In the same scene, you can also find the real couple on whom the story is based.

Sadly when this movie was in theatre, no one was talking about it. I remember the feeling of watching this movie in theatre and feeling so overwhelmed. Very less number of movies make you feel that way when you leave the theatre. And when I had come out of the theatre, no one was talking about it and I thought that it is another cult classic that people will only start liking years later. Very happy for all the love the movie is getting now ❤

It's not because people didn't appreciate it. Most of the movies don't do well during theater runs is because people just wait it out until it is available for streaming on OTT platforms. Most movies now are available within a couple of months for streaming. Movie makers have also realized this.
But nothing beats the experience of watching a movie in a theatre

Different from Whiplash at two major points:
Love is not a distraction that he has to let go, it becomes his strength. Requires good attitude from both of them, and it takes some time, but it becomes his strength not weakness.
Second, the movie kind of overcomes the notion of this or nothing. At the end, he realizes that his value is not defined by the job, he will be great anywhere he ends up. He would give his all but still do great anyway wherever he ends up. And that assurity from her that their love/life will not be dependent on his success or failure but just them.

I'm one of the few people atleast in my circle who watched this movie in a theatre. So happy that it's getting it's due popularity after getting released on OTT. Though it did fair business, very few people actually knew about this before it came online. I have been a vidhu Vinod chopra fan since 1942 a love story days. Production or direction, I never missed any of his movies. This man doesn't get old. Watch 1942 A love story if you can next to know the man's craft. And yes more of Vikrant Messy? Watch Death in the Gunj. Let us know if it doesn't move you like this😊

movie of the year! excellent overall. loved that Vikrant's home theme was all classical instruments and Shraddha's was western. and the fusion in the end (her theme on his instruments) was a brilliant touch!

People who says 12th fail is the best Indian movie, need to watch other non-Hindi great movies from last year. 😂 I also liked this movie but just think again. How else do you expect a coming of age film to evolve? Good making and good acting and good movie. Great though?? Try watching Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam or Kaathal the core or jigarthanda XX 😊 12th fail is in my top 10.

Good to see Vidhu Vinod Chopra back after a long hiatus. He is one of Hindi cinema auteurs from the late 80s well known for movies like Parinda, 1942 A Love Story etc. One movie I would recommend, if you haven’t watched already, is Khamosh (1986)- his first movie.

The music was also well made, I saw this in an reel, but becoz of that I noticed it in the movie later, that shraddha has piano as her instrument becoz of her social position while manoj had more traditional, instruments and at a pivotal point in their relationship they both combine so good, and that made me so impressed, what a movie...I enjoyed it so much, without doubt one of the best movies ever, also u look good in lose clothes jaby ✌️

If you haven't seen VVC's movies, you're really missing something. He was a trailblazer with his movies starting with his documentary and then making his debut with Khamosh, one of the finest suspense thrillers, and then Parinda which was an absolute masterpiece. He went onto be a producer and all Raj Kumar Hirani's movies were produced by him except Dunki. He's the secret sauce.
