i usually tie/tape a bunch of those poppers together it makes a louder bang...
Bottle rockets are very unpredictable and cause fires ALL the time. Mortars rule and as long as they are airborne, go STRAIGHT up. But you want to use an iron pipe for mortars since occasionally they can stall and stay in the tube.
i also go to a firework store called "Safe-Insane" fireworks. good place. awesome name lol
i was shooting off a mortar, and it was upside down, and so i was surounded by lit "sparks" or glitter! it was fun. u should try it
you can get shells in texas. shells are so much better and more predictable than rockets, and they go BOOM!!!, not "pop".

Wow my family and I have Ground Bloomer wars and you say that poppers hurt......you a kiss up to all the moms that freak out about there kids playing with fireworks. No matter what you say you wont stop like everyone from 12 to 40 that still do play with fireworks.
depends on what you set off, and where. if its a normal firecracker like the ones you get from walmart at the fourth of july, and dont set them off inside the house, then thats fine. if its outside, in a secluded place, then she's overreacting.

Bottle rockets (of any kind) are not considered "safe and sane"...Fountains, ground spinners, and noveltys (that are on the ground) are considered safe and sane..maybe smoke devices are safe and sane..I forgot.
