Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the huge venue, "Yokohama Arena", on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄)
Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)

Also, props for the large screen to watch this from. I hope you could see the lyrics, they're pretty funny in a sadistic sort of way. Best rock band on the planet. Yokohama Arena. When they were in England several years ago Jimmy Page went to see them and had to go backstage to meet Akane, the drummer. There's a picture floating around out there somewhere with the together. Her nickname is The Gorilla and the bass player, Misa, is call The Barefoot Assassin because she doesn't wear shoes when performing.

Since 2016, I haven't looked anywhere except Japan for my Rock and Metal music (honourable exception being The Warning from Mexico). That was the year I discovered Band-Maid and, although they are easily THE best Hard Rock band on the planet, there's a ton of other superb Japanese female bands over there too - Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie to name but 3. 4:45 - Nice to see Akane's drumk work getting praised as it is the scaffolding on which everything else rests. I isolated her drums from the call and response section and posted the video on my YT channel with her drums set at 100% and all other instruments set to 20% ( czcams.com/video/Lc6hy30kUlE/video.htmlsi=7syom5P1vpzusXIq ).

A liitle surprised, after you complimenting and drawing attention to Akake's drumming that you called MISA and Kanami's leads' "solos", because they had the drums killing it in support - and early in their "conversation" they also had Miku backing on rythm guitar - 'cept it was a bit more than just that 👍😎.
They do have a LOT of true solos, though, with just the one instrument playing - even Saiki takes a turn on the piano, and it's delightful!

    @Raven-ey7mt Před měsícem

Welcome to the Pigeon Hole. In my opinion Band Maid is currently the best rock band on the planet. These beautiful ladies have been rocking for about 10 years.
Formed in 2013 by Miku (rhythm guitar) who used to work in a Maid café’, the Maids first gained international notice in April 2015 when the Facebook page of internet radio station Jrock Radio promoted the music video for "Thrill" and it went viral. Be warned they will come for your soul with plenty of Solo work from Misa (bass), Kanami (lead), fills and solos from Akane (Drums) and they are all killer.
Some of my favourite tracks are Play, Domination, Don’t You Tell Me, Dice, Freedom, (Onset, From now on, Without Holding Back, all instrumentals) Thrill, Unleash!!!!!, Hate? and Bestie. Any Maids track always ROCKS and they knock it out of the park every time. They have an extensive back catalogue (130+ tracks) and they are all so different with a mix of genres
    The 5 Band-Maid members are:
SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals and melodies.
MIKU Kobato (Me-Ku), "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals and lyricist. She is the Band founder. She was originally going to sing vocals but decided her voice wasn’t rock enough so she recruited Saiki and learnt guitar instead, she couldn’t play when she formed the band and played very little on Thrill. (their first MV) She was mainly tutored by Kanami. She has the energy of an average nuclear power station mixed with weapons grade cuteness? A comedian onstage - literally! She is the heart and soul of the band.
KANAMI Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar and keyboards. Kanami plays a PRS; the birds on the fret board are a tribute to Paul Reed Smith's mum who was an avid birdwatcher.
AKANE Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, keyboard and trombone LOL. In 2016 Jimmy Page saw the band and asked for photo op with her. He apparently said “she was a reincarnated John Bonham”, hi praise indeed.
MISA (Me-Sa), "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass. Misa usually plays a Black Cloud 5 string bass aka “The Black Smoker”. She is an exceptional bass player and possibly the best around.
Their Battle Gear as they call it with slight variations are French maid outfits for Akane, Miku and Kanami, Misa and Saiki weren’t keen on the outfits but compromises were made.
MISA ditched the French maid outfit early on and started to wear a Chinese inspired maid outfit - in black of course. It's partly how MISA got her nickname 'The Barefoot Assassin', she always plays barefoot, and Miku joked her outfit was an “Assassin maid”.
Saiki's outfit is more Spanish inspired and more fitting for the Queen of Maids.
Rock is NOT dead it just got a passport, moved to Japan and got new outfits.
The great thing with they ladies is they always look so happy with great interactions between band members and with their fans (that they call “Masters” and “Princesses” with concerts called “Servings”).Fans are known as Maidiacs.
    The Ladies in more detail:
SAIKI Atsumi is the youngest; “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. She’s into train spotting and collecting trainers. Very girly, into doing her nails and is a fashion icon. She’s really into Baseball and the Hanshin Tigers. She has a heart of gold and a killer dry sense of humour. She has recently started writing lyrics (Hate?).
MIKU Kobato or “Koba”, as Saiki calls her is a firecracker MC & PR Spokes Pigeon. Miku claims to be an 800 year old pigeon and makes pigeon noises when she speaks. Po! She’s very good at poker, really into horses and horse racing. She is very clumsy (may fall into ditches). Miku's new signature Zemaitis guitar has pigeons on the fret board. Miku always has the finest guitars in the land including the “Aces & Eights”, the “Flappy Pigeon” and a Buccaneer Island Disc Front.
KANAMI Tono is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want is more! Kanami has two personas. Normally a tiny cute shy very polite lady who seems very innocent (the band have to explain dirty jokes to her) until she puts on her guitar. The band say: "then she gets quite violent" - she turns into the shredding rock star she is. When she takes the guitar off she turns back to the little girl. She likes cakes, coffee and is totally infatuated by Saiki. She adores Saiki very much, to everyone's amusement.
AKANE Hirose, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during a performance!) rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. She usually has a big grin on her face while drumming manically, Akane was also a DJ (under the name DJ Achi) and likes dancing and goofing with MISA. She also plays trombone and piano!
MISA! An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. MISA is very shy onstage (and a total clown offstage with Akane). Because of her shyness she often drinks onstage, you can often spot a bottle of Jim Beam on her amp. She drinks it neat. Lately she’s been drinking more beer than whiskey though, good girl. She doesn't say much, but when she does it's usually totally hilarious! At a lot of concerts you will hear the fans chanting MISA! MISA! MISA!

I get it how Black Hole only got 7% of the voting. While Hate? is a perfect choice for a first listen, Black Hole is probably their most complex song and maybe not that easy to react to. It actually takes a few listens to fully capture the true brilliance of it. And btw, this awesome live version of Hate? is much better than the studio version.
