The nation of Israel is a group of descendents who came from Jacob the son of Isaac the son of Abraham. The 12 sons of Jacob and their seed became the 12 tribes of Israel who were allowed to dwell in the land promised to Abraham and his seed, which according to the Bible is from River Nile to the Great River Euphrates.
Genesis 15:18 KJV - In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Even though, God allowed Israel to be destroyed as a nation in 70 AD for their iniquity and for crucifying their Messiah Yeshua Jesus (see Daniel 9:26), as the Romans destroyed the temple and removed them from the land. That is until God brought them back into the land in 1948 after the Jewish Holocaust, and thus prophecy was fulfilled:
Ezekiel 36:22-28 KJV - Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Israel must be in the Holy Land for Daniel's 70th Week to begin, which according to Daniel Ch. 9 is the final week of years needed for the nation of Israel and the Holy City of Jerusalem to be purified and for a remnant of the Jews to be saved before the Messiah returns from Heaven to destroy the kings of the earth at Battle Armageddon and be anointed as King over all the nations (Zech. 14, Psalm 2, Rev. 20).
Joel Chapter 3 tells us that when Israel and Judah are restored back to their land, near the time when the Day of the LORD begins, God will gather all of his enemies in the valley of Jehosaphat to judge them, including a people called 'Palestine' which comes from the same Hebrew word (Strong's H6429) for the 'Philistines.'
Joel 3:4 KJV - Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
I do not believe the modern day Palestinians are the same tribe as the ancient Philistines, yet I believe they are being raised up by the same Satanic Principality and spirit that used the Philistines to make war with Israel in the Promised Land in the days of King David. Yet a greater King David comes, and He comes from Heaven to make war with all of the nations who seek to destroy Israel in these last days.
Joel 3:9-17 KJV - Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD. Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
