    I bought one of those screens for my bike for a tour of France and Spain and it means you can maintain a constant 110mph instead of 90mph without getting neck cramp after 5 minutes. Believe me.

    Beautiful machine you have there, the mods really give it an edge! The POV view of this screen on the S1kR is one of the better looking out of all the ones I've seen up until now. As you say it doesnt mess with the "line" of the bike's design and it matches well with the mirrors. I would love to own this bike one day. Genuinly enjoyed your video man, subbed!

      Thank you JBH. I enjoyed a video of yours as well. I can relate to people thinking you're crazy for riding.

    Nice review. Best mod I did for my R1200RS was install a Wunderlich windscreen. Wunderlich can do no wrong...but holy moly their products are expensive. Can I ask what mirrors you’re using?

  • @Alimarek
    @Alimarek Před 6 lety +1

    Did you try also the Wunderlich MARATHON Screen?

  • @martycalifornia1414
    @martycalifornia1414 Před 8 lety +2

    Oh wow. Nice timing. I just uploaded my Wunderlich Touring screen review yesterday. So I'd estimate the wind blast reduction at about 50%. If you put your open hand in front of your helmet and raise and lower it while you ride, you can feel the differences in the wind stream at different heights. It's counterintuitive, but I also noticed a significant increase in helmet wind noise after I installed the screen. I think it's because the wind that goes up over the lip of the windscreen is turbulent, rather than laminar, and creates a lot of noise. And I heard the difference despite wearing earplugs.

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 8 lety

      I just saw your video. You had a similar message delivered in 1/10 the amount of time. I could hear more wind today as well with plugs in. Mostly at 80+. It does more in a semi tuck at speed. Most of that air rides over facemask and the wind noise really drops. Noted that this is not a common position to be in.

    What levers did you get, dig the blue.

  • @martycalifornia1414
    @martycalifornia1414 Před 8 lety

    Bunch more questions: What bar end mirrors are those? Do they vibrate at high speeds? My stock mirrors get so blurry at speed they are essentially worthless. Also, those anodized blue levers look gorgeous on the black s1kr. What kind are they?

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 8 lety

      The mirrors are rizoma reverse retro. Yes, they do vibrate - less than stock though. I put them on purely for appearance. The vibration issue gets complicated. The stock bar ends don't allow for bar end mirrors to attach unless you turn them down. Rizoma bar ends are lighter. Vibration increases a bit due to an overall drop in weight. So less mirror vibration and a little more bar vibration.
      Levers are Pazzo. Good deal, easy to fit. Mine are normal length.

    Which helmet is it that lowers the neck strain and noise?

  • @joeypfister9580
    @joeypfister9580 Před 7 lety

    Hey Minner Q what added mods do you have on your bike? I love the mirrors and shorty levers. Super interested in the super naked what do you average on fuel?

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 7 lety

      Hey Joey. I have engine guards, frame sliders, tail tidy, chain adjusters, tank pads, mirrors, levers .. I think that's it. The other videos go over them in more detail. I think I average high 30's but I hardly pay attention to the mileage. I can ride for over 2.5 hrs before worrying about gas. It suits my needs but not everyone's.

    What year is your bike? Does it have the quick shifter? I ask because I saw you pulling in your clutch.

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 6 lety

      I have Pazzo levers. It doesn't have a quick shifter. my model is the absolute base model. I have yet to see another one in this spec

    does the touring screen come with everything you need or do you need to reuse stuff from the oem screen? Like rubber grommets.Thx

      Ahh the struggle! My videos could be so incredibly long. I'll try to keep them in that 10 - 15 min sweet spot and some have to be 20 because I just can't shut up. Thanks for the comment - kind of you. I'll keep making them even without subscribers. It's therapeutic. More to come this week.

    That screen looks good man. You are going to feel the difference when you ride the freeway, trust me. I know mine made a big difference. I'm glad you decided to get the crash protectors, that's the difference between trucking your bike or riding after a spill (knock on wood) I will be waiting for the video of the installation. Later

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 8 lety

      Glad to hear you've had a good experience with the screen. I honestly haven't taken it on a long highway blast since putting it on. It'll happen this week. I think the thought of being stranded on a canyon road or track flipped me toward the frame sliders. Thanks for the input. I'll have a quick install and visual video on those out soon.

      130 km/h the difference is huge. i'm 59 kg guy, i feel the wind generally, but not anymore with that. I recommand the purchase.

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 8 lety

      I've been riding it on the highway more and I notice a clear difference too. Buffeting yes, but less resistance at my neck. Buffeting isn't a deal breaker at all.

    Do you get helmet buffeting from turbulent air on top of your helmet with this screen?

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 3 lety

      I didn’t get any buffeting. Size and shape of the rider may bring different results though.

  • @keloniomannamoinolk7153

    Gentlemen, those wind screens don't work. The wind diminishes very little and the reason that the wind is directed to the hull is because it does not work. RR motorcycles have a bubble of different shape and therefore produce the "bullet" effect that it does is make a whirlwind that dissipates the wind and does not go to the hull. Pay attention to me.

    Do you know anybody in San Diego who does service for BMW S1000R like lowering the seat a little bit? Thank you in advance

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 7 lety

      I'm pretty new to the area but a buddy of mine has had his seat reshaped. Oftentimes they can shave some foam off and effectively lower your seat height by a centimeter or two. That wouldn't affect the dynamics of the bike. There's a tech at BMW motorcycles of Escondido. Name is Chris Johns. He had made himself available for more in depth suspension work if needed. I bet he could do it or at least show you the way. You can call service and swing by when he's on duty.

      +Minner Q Thanks, I'm 6'4 and was thinking of getting this bike

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 8 lety

      Murray I can't speak to the experience of someone taller than me but I've come across many others who are 6'3"-6'5" and most are quite comfortable. The "comfort" seat option raises the seat and decreases knee bend without lowering pegs. It also has great clearance so lowering the pegs an inch probably won't slow most people down much.

    @thebarber1584 Před 8 lety

    have to tell you something very important my friend ;) if u had a sore neck this is only due the crap helmet!!! for naked bike u need some good brand sport-race helmet bcos its aerodynamics on this is perfect ,so ,no sore neck ;)

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 8 lety

      I changed the helmet recently. I had a way too large shoei qwest that captured the wind under the gaping space around my neck and face. The new helmet is tight - as it should be. I did this just before the windscreen was added. The neck is definitely better. As I said in the video, do the helmet first then play with screens later.

  • @reefer013

    I was never a fan of how this screen looks, but I bought it anyway thinking it would help with the wind buffeting, it didn't. then I got the little rizoma screen. that thing buffets wind better than this one, go figure...

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 7 lety

      Weird. I won't even pretend to know what's happening with the wind. Too many variables. Glad you found something effective.

  • @vishwav20

    The POV from the riders position looks like a stretched out piece of glass bolted to the bike but looks neat from all other angles though!

    • @MinnerQ
      @MinnerQ  Před 8 lety

      I agree that with many of these screens (this one included) the rider POV is the worst angle. Surprisingly, the profile is one of the better angles.
