  • We had these handles custom-made for use with Rinaldi No.3, No.4, and No.5 "Trento" and "Normale" pattern axe heads. The quality of the wood is phenomenal, and our manufacturing partner did a great job overall. There were, however, a small number of handles with more runout in the neck than we considered acceptable, and we decided to put the very worst one through the wringer to see just how much abuse it could handle before breaking. Quite a bit, as it turns out!

    Had an axe with similar problems, lasted a few years before it broke one me. Even “bad” handles can still be pretty serviceable.

    Awesome, I've wanted to set up a mechanical test rig for a while to test grain against over strikes and glancing blows.

    Most of my handles are ash and you really notice the difference when you over strike hickory takes it far better than any wood I have tried

    I don't think I would get mad enough to break one.

    Do your Axe and hammer heads have a similar eye opening?

    • @FortyTwoBlades
      @FortyTwoBlades  Před 4 lety

      ...which ones specifically? That eye style is traditional on Italian axes and hammers (as well as in France, Spain, and Portugal) but we note in our item descriptions when they have a slip-fit style eye.

    Questa ascia è progettata per tagliare la legna non per spaccare. Prova ad usare l'ascia stessa con manico in fibra e poi vedi la differenza. Buon lavoro americano !!!

      The purpose of this video was to deliberately put strain on the handle to show how strong it was despite the grain of the wood being less than perfect! We are fully aware that it is not a splitting axe. 🙂
      Lo scopo di questo video era quello di mettere deliberatamente a dura prova il manico per mostrare quanto fosse forte nonostante le venature del legno fossero meno che perfette! Siamo pienamente consapevoli che non è un'ascia da spaccare. 🙂

    Nice video bro, I think your axe handle became sentient and created a CZcams account, look there is a single thumbs down, I bet it was him.
