This is actually a really big problem in China, the MMA fighter is attacked constantly by the Chinese Govt. because he is discrediting traditional Chinese martial arts. I think he was evicted from his home even because of it. This is the issue when a Govt. is so controlling and patriotic and "cannot be wrong" even though they clearly are.
I mean to be fair having a dude from your own country absolutely disgracing all Chinese by proving martial arts are not as viable in fights, it's pretty bad. Throws the whole of China's face and makes them look bad. But still the measures they took are too far
I mean, if this so called "martial art" is really useless to a dangerous opponent like a MMA fighter, it has no meaning at all as self-defence. I love martial arts really, but being real about what you and your martial art capable of can save you from false confidence in real life.

Fighting seem to be a lot different when your opponent follows through with their attack and doesn't just stop and back off as soon as you put up a lazy block.
Hands up, near the face for protection. Always. The second even one of them drops below the chin, well, you end up like the Master here at the end of the video. That's what I was taught, that's what I taught first and foremost.

Chinese government is a big reason why Kung Fu has stopped being taken seriously. They back all these bullshit artists up and put down real fighters, this mma guy also very likely has proper fighting Kung Fu (sanda) base but the government is on the side of the man who just wants to look like he is in a movie and doesn't want to put in the work to be a proper fighter. To be fair, he's been taught all his life that this stuff will work. He wasn't trying to deceive any one. He believed in it so much he put himself in a match being filmed because he believed in his art. I can respect someone putting their money where their mouth is. NOW did he admit his system is flawed and change? If he just made excuses then all respect is gone.
If it went down the way you described, I could agree with you.... but that's not what actually happened. What actually happened was that the guy paid a professonal MMA fighter to film a "commercial" with him to try to make himself seem legitimate. Then he decided to actually spar with a MMA amateur. He was hoping that since the guy was an "amateur" he'd be able to hold his own and possibly win. Unfortunately for him, he was thinking that "amateur" meant "untrained guy who is trying out MMA for the first time," not, "a guy who has practiced MMA for some time, but hasn't been able to break into the professional scene." He's not an honest guy who's been deluded into thinking that he's an invulnerable killing machine; He's a conman, who screwed up a publicity stunt.

Any training works against the untrained but none work in mma unless u mix them up
This is what happens when kung fu practice designed intentionally for casual mood improvement and, in a way, similar to meditation meets real practical fighting style.
Not only casual mood improvement, but in China you won't be taught the practical way of actually using it unless you're part of the inner circle or when the goverment finally drafted you. Then those useless movements start to make sense because you're supposed to do them while holding weapons like bow or short blades. His movements makes more sense if he's holding a dagger with hand protector IMO, so the movement of the opponent's stabbing would get deflected by the hand guard and the small punch in the end is the stabbing. @Jose DIAZ ARZE so basically if u and I are fighting and I am taking big swings at u in a way where u can clearly see that I am about to punch u, and its basically punching in a way that the enemy can see ur punches. This is actually a really big problem in China, the MMA fighter is attacked constantly by the Chinese Govt. because he is discrediting traditional Chinese martial arts. I mean, if this so called "martial art" is really useless to a dangerous opponent like a MMA fighter, it has no meaning at all as self-defence. If it went down the way you described, I could agree with you.... but that's not what actually happened.
What actually happened was that the guy paid a professonal MMA fighter to film a "commercial" with him to try to make himself seem legitimate. Then he decided to actually spar with a MMA amateur. As the saying goes, the truth hurts
But there are martial arts that that are really pratical, look really cool, and work irl scenarios too. ie, bjj, karate, boxing, muaythai, there are also knife arts (kali and arnis) though they also teach you grapples and how to disarm against people with knives. *His assistants:* "Ah shit, here we go again."
yeah coz they always gotta pick up his body after every fight
But I'm just talking out of my ass since I don't know his style, it's just what I see.
@@liemgroup8362 it depends, a lot of martial arts is based around the fact that bodily conditioning is a thing as well as not all fights being the same. I’ve trained in kung fu for a decent majority of my life and i’ve found most techniques revolve around the idea of learning the most ideal way to perform something to understand how to replicate a technique when it’s not ideal (i.e. a real fight) but it all depends.
This is not real kung fu btw. Any of this doesn't exist outside of whatever school that asshat has, actual Martial Arts are more so a public display of skill rather than for actual combat. Though there still competitions that have full contact.
