    Okayu's Channel: / @nekomataokayu
For context, this stream was broadcast late on the 31st of January, 2020. It was the second of only two runs that day. Okayu's time of 20m38s would have been easily top 500 on the global leaderboards at the time.
    Translation and other notes:
1:34, 6:04, 17:17, and elsewhere - Okayu refers to a particular trick as either 尻 (shiri) or ケツ (ketsu), as the technique is known in Japanese as ケツワープ (ketsuwaapu), which comes as across as something similar to the way "butt warp" would in English. Okayu shortens it down to the part that would just mean "butt". This trick in English is known as the “Backwards Long Jump”, shortened to “BLJ”. This is the technique that allows her to get through the 50 star door and up the endless staircase despite having less stars than usually required to do so.
2:07 and elsewhere - Okayu refers to the trick where she clips through the chomp's gate using a bob-omb as 新ボム (shinbomu), which is how the technique is normally referred to in Japanese. It comes across literally as something like “new bomb”, which it was originally called to differentiate it from a now much older variation of the trick, and the label stuck. In English this differentiation isn't built into the way the trick is referred to, and many people aren't even aware the older variation of the trick exists at all.
2:42, 8:33 and elsewhere - Okayu and the chat talk about doing 和解 (wakai) or reconcilliation with various things, like a goomba and the chomp bomb clip. This is a meme that originates with distinctive Christian billboards with many variations that are posted across Japan, which often urge people to reconcile with god. It was possible to scratch off parts of the characters on the signs to turn 神 (kami, god) into ネコ (neko, cat), turning “reconcile with god” to “reconcile with a cat”, kicking off the meme format for people to refer to reconciling with all matter of things.
6:27 - Okayu reads a comment in chat referring to the 振動パック (shindoupakku) version of the game, or the Rumble Pak compatible version of the game, which is sometimes known in the English-language speedrunning community as the Shindou version, or the Shindou edition.
8:00 - Okayu refers to her uncle as 親戚のおじちゃん (shinseki no ojichan) which means roughly 'uncle who I'm related to'. She has to specify that she's related to him because the word for uncle in Japanese could just be referring to any older guy. In English of course, uncle is a word used only for relatives.
8:51 - Okayu interupts herself to react to the fact that Bowser is “dancing”. This has a roughly 10% chance of happening, and is desirable when speedrunning as it can make finishing the boss fight slightly quicker.
9:05 - This is a mistake in the translation, she's just referring to a specific stereotype of how old men text/message, not anything to do with letters.
11:33, 12:27 - Okayu refers to her uncle as engaging in 食わず嫌い (kuwazugirai), or the phenomenon where someone decides they don't like or aren't interested in something without having tried it out first. You could take it somewhat literally as “disliking without eating”, in reference to new foods.
11:42 - Okayu does a version of the Rolling Logs star that doesn't utilise the wing cap. This trick is hard and it's pretty crazy she does it when there are other easier stars she could be doing that aren't necessarily slower. Most English-language guides to the version of the category she's doing will not even suggest doing this, although it is used at the very top level. Pretty cool.
12:38 - Okayu refers to what she does to get the star from Toad as 喝上げ(katsuage) as a joke, which is usually used in reference to the crime of extortion, or the act of shaking someone down. For example someone taking another's money in person under the threat of violence.
23:50 - In Hololive, newly debuting generations of Vtubers are banned from collaborating with other generations or branches for the first month of their activity, and are only allowed to collaborate with others from the same generation for that first month. Hololive's fourth generation of Vtubers had officially all debuted a month before this stream, so the ban on collabs was lifting for them only a few hours after Okayu streamed this run.
26:18 - In Japanese, numbers are grouped by 10,000s rather than 1,000s at that scale, so 700,000 instead of being 700k is 70万 and 1.2mil is 120万, which means they might seem more suitable for the purposes of tying subscriber milestones to the theme of the 70 star and 120 star Mario 64 speedrun categories. This 16-star stream, in fact, was in celebration of hitting 160k subs, or 16万.

I never expected to find this subbed when I saw that Okayu had speedrun Mario 64 and searched! People like you are a big part of what makes this community great, subbing things that are important pieces of Hololive history even if the audience might be niche compared to other clips.

The mistakes didn't seem to bother her that much, I guess at the bridge with Lakitu most runners would have reseted right away. I love relaxing speedruns like this that are not about perfection and have interesting commentary.

Nice! Ranks for translating this! I, like many others, have to rely on these translations since I don't understand more than 6 words in Japanese. Also, She got 20:37 but paused the timer too late -v-'
