I’m totally okay with the subscription model. Logic Pro on Mac costs €229. And that’s very cheap for a DAW that includes everything.
Hah really enjoyed being clipped in this video Patrick! All these years later and you are still the kindest content creator on the internet!
So great to hear from you man!
@@MobileMusicPro Vortex, you’re back! I hope you’re doing well.
the problem is that the biggesrt VST soft house are not making any IOS auv... native instruments forgot about ios, arturia forgot about ios, u-he not made..i still missing not using kontakt or guitar rig is so powerful , or not having a synth like massive on ios...or serum ...or zebra.. to me making music on ipad is still not at the same level than make it on mac os
Yes, I'm renewing. Missing feature is iCloud sync of patches.
Great idea with the 1y retrospective! Please do this every year now, maybe also for Garageband (how things have improved over time). By the way $4 per month is really not expensive. And the lack of VSTs… well… with all those killer stock plugins, like Alchemy, Sculpture, Es2, etc. who needs that? Super Pros? Well then simply finish your projects in Logic MacOS…
Good idea!
Lack of VSTs is an especially silly argument when you consider there are over 1000 AUV3s on iOS, many of which are desktop ports and even more are super cool iOS specific plugins.
@@HotStrange and usually cheaper than their desktop equivalents!
@@TheLogicProGuide yep, hence why I own so many 😅😬
I love Logic Pro for iPad, but I feel like Apple kind of wants to force us to use a Mac. I miss the full Alchemy Synthesizer… Sampler… Flex Pitch… etc. Little things that could be there but Apple doesn’t want to include.
Need Flex Pitch for sure
this is a really great review and your enthusiasm shows and tbh makes me want to get the bag just because you are smitten. How do you think this compares functionally to the Pakt 45L travel bag? i konw you had a hand in designing Pakt so you might be biased, but from a newcomer to one bag travel, which do you think is a better route to go starting out?
I have Logic on iPad since it came out. It’s the best DAW on iPad, no question. But as a 20+ years Logic user…
Midi learn, complete keyboard shortcuts, surface controls support?
Instead of that we get beginners toys (apart from maybe the saturation plugin). There’s GarageBand for that.
Where are the “Pro” features? They made a great start but well…
MIDI learn is a big miss for sure.
That fact that no one seems to bat an eye that it is a subscription is saddening to me. I have Logic Pro on Mac and have had it since 2015 and it still works perfectly, renting a subpar version on a device I am using sporadically is just not worth it.
People were (and still are) very vocal on how they feel about Logic’s subscription pricing. Totally understand if it’s not for you.
One thing that hasn’t changed much is devs support for recording automation from the plugins interface. Even Korg which is a big name and released their Gadgets as AUv3 recently don’t support this.
For my first EP, each tune was made with a different iPad DAW: NanoStudio 2, Gadget, GarageBand, and (arriving just in time for the last track) Logic Pro. The next EP will be all Logic. Although I can foresee possibly using Gadget or maybe something else for one or two projects in the future, for the most part I’m doing everything in Logic now. I also pulled stems from an unfinished project in GarageBand for Mac and finished and released it using Logic for iPad. I don’t even remember what I listed back when you asked what features we were missing. It seems I haven’t really missed any of them.
Midi learn is a huge thing they need to add, along with just more base functional stuff, adding new things is cool too but this would have a much greater impact on the average user.
I am an Ableton and Logic user
Ableton is twice as expensive and you pay for every major update. Logic is insane in terms of price-performance
Okay, I don’t care at all about AI features, in fact I didn’t ask for and don’t want AI anywhere near my music. But I absolutely love Afterglow, Studio Bass, and Pianos. 👏 They sound incredible.
Buonasera! Thank you very much for your vid!! Nevertheless I‘ve got one (stupid/silly) question: Using GarageBand on iPad I can find instrument(patches) like clarinet, flute bassoon, etc. Are those instruments missing in Logic Pro for iPad or can I download them anywhere? Thank you for your help!
Tanti saluti!
Pretty sure they are all present in Logic. Let me double check where exactly and I’ll get back to you!
@@TheLogicProGuide Buongiorno! I‘m still searching and looking for these woodwindinstruments like bassoon, clarinet, oboe, etc; still not found!😩
Great vlog! I use logic on iMac and MacBook Air , I want to update to M1 or m2 iPad but can’t bare to lose thousands pounds worth of third party plugins 😢 if apple offered iPads with a year free subscription to logic on the pad for Logic Mac owners I think that would help swallow the hurt 😢
I really want to replace my laptop with an M4 iPad Pro, but I need a good DAW for recording. Do Logic Pro support 3rd party plugins/VSTi's like Waves' line of plugins? :)
No, you can’t use desktop plugins on an iPad. iOS has its own music production app ecosystem, though more companies are porting their plugins across (Fabfilter, Baby Audio, MOOG etc)
My biggest gripe with Logic for iPad is the lack of support for transport controls. I don’t know if it’s a Logic issue or the controller vendors but it’s frustrating to have a good keyboard controller (an NI S61 in my case) and not be able to leverage the transport controllers.
Is there no way to program the controller to trigger the transport controls? Could you use a Bluetooth keyboard for transport shortcuts? I need to look at this. I agree that shortcuts are really useful tools
Yep, a glaring omission for sure.
I really need the iPad version of Logic Pro to update with video import capabilities, just like the Mac version of Logic. This way, I can use the iPad to synchronize playback with VJ and PGM.
I'm still waiting to hear a great pop record made with LP for iPad .. loads of tutorials but never do a hear a great completed track made with it.. Yet I've heard some great tracks made with GarageBand iOS so I'm wondering if it's because LP for iPad is just too fidly or too mammoth in it's scope. I'd love to hear finished good pop made with it. I use Logic Pro and Cubase Pro on MAC and GarageBand iOS and Cubasis iOS. My current iPad is too old to support LP, but I love Logic Pro.
Logic Pro 11 on a mac good, but I was disappointed with most of the User interfaces plugins were not redesigned, except for pitch correction plugin on macOS
Do you feel they need to be updated? Which ones specifically?
@TheLogicProGuide the stock plugins that ahould be updated are:
instruments such as ES2, ESM, ESP, sculpture, Vocoder Synth(Evoc 20)
Effects such as ringshifter, Subbass, Delay Designer, Evoc 20 Trackoscillator, vocal transformer, Filterbank, and Enveloper. Amp and drum designers need some UI updates.
I'm using arturia midi keyboard essential mk3. Unfortunately on the display is DAW mode on, but doesn't work with logic pro as should. I can't use the rec, play buttons on the keyboard. Can't use sliders. I can play on keyboard there is no issue but sliders, play, rec buttons doesn't respond and I have to use those buttons on the display on my ipad. Any ideas? What is going on.
Logic Pro for iPad doesn’t have MIDI learn/MIDI mapping yet.
@@TheLogicProGuide thx. That's weird. 😕
will be there any ai vocal changer available for ios logic pro? thx (lalas, ace..etc)
Does anyone think that Logic Pro for IPad Pro will ever have the capacity to print out a traditional score with notes on a staff like the Logic Pro for Mac OS?
Not sure about the option to print, but hopefully a score editor will be added at some point.
The current situation of LPiP is tearing me apart... My workflow is I sketch and outline new songs in GB iOS (iPad 9) and do the real recording in Logic Mac. Now the new session players are a game changer when it comes to songwriting. So... Do i get a new iPad Air and subscribe to LPiP or get a Macbook pro for when I'm on the go? iPad would mean all the touch instruments and simplicity while Macbook would mean the dongle life but no subscription since I already own Logic... Tough choice (and first world problem... I know 😁)
Definitely a tough decision. I own both Mac and sub to the iPad version and find myself creating on the iPad more often. It’s just more convenient nowadays.
Can Apple please fix the delay in the PLAY button. The delay limits me when running Logic Pro for iPad in live performances.
There’s a delay? Not sure I’ve noticed - how long of a delay are you experiencing?
@@TheLogicProGuide yes, the delay’s about half a beat. Just press Play on a session and you’ll notice it. You can also try pressing play on the downbeat while the radio etc is playing, and you’ll see Logic doesn’t start on the downbeat… I’ve wrote in to Apple concerning this, as I’m sure it’s an easy fix. I was hoping for a fix on the update, but to no avail, it’s still there. If you can please put in a word with someone regarding this. Thank you!
I wish there was a way to send a bus to separate audio outputs, I have the ID14 mk2 that has x2 sets of outputs that I would like to use simultaneously…
Can you please tell me what is Midi Learn
Assigning buttons and pads on a MIDI keyboard to trigger controls and/or sounds inside Logic.
Ok thanks. That makes it much clearer
I’m not agree with subscription model. If the iPad is not your main tool for make music, you need to be aware to activating or deactivating your subscription if you thing that not will use the software in the next months. In the future, pay 5€ or $ if you only want to revisit one project is not funny
Yep, it’s not for everyone.
@@TheLogicProGuide Yes, I think that subscription models can make sense if you use that software a lot, but when you want it for sporadic use, it is totally inadvisable and dissuasive
Does it have a staff view?
It doesn’t, as I say in the video it’s one of the most requested features that will hopefully make its way across from Logic on Mac at some point.
@@TheLogicProGuide Thank you for clarifying.
Could you please show me how to use Voxyn Pro in Logic..It was straight forward in GarageBand but somehow I’m really struggling to set it up 🤷🏾♂️
Really like the DAW itself but still can't stand the subscription model. I'm sticking with Cubasis for now.
The pricing model is not for everyone.
just 4$ dude… for a really good daw…
i need to make aggregate audio devices.
I do have two big gripes about the iPad version: one, still no FREAKIN’ EXS import support. I have some key third-party libraries that I use on a regular basis, and (I guess this might be a third gripes) not even having in-browser support for our own samlpe libraries, much less the EXS ones, is a glaring omission. Instead, I have my 14” MacBook Pro to fall back on for those. The other gripe that I have: for the money that people are asked to spend on subscriptions, the amount of updates released prior to 2.0 has been sorely lacking, in comparison with most other iOS apps paid via subscription, whose updates are way, way more frequent. My expectation with a s subscription is that I’m willing to pay for it, provided that updates and support is sufficient enough to justify the ask. I guess it might be an Apple way to do it, but to me it’s not a good look, and may have me reconsider my subscription. Okay, I’m done now! Thanks for the good videos, as always!
It would be awesome if we could get the same loops, Sampler and other built in plugins from the Mac into the iPad
Still waiting and hoping Apple will switch to one time purchase model, this whole subscription idea sucks.
If iOS/iPad music producers can afford paying a fortune for Pianoteq why shouldn’t they pat $200 dollars for a life time access to Logic!
I see it that way, 4 years annual subscription to be paid once and after 4 years probably the user will need tu buy the latest iPad to support the latest Logic update (remember for the latest update devices before M series are not officially supported, even the M1 has some issues)
I vote for one time purchase then comes the midi learning and whatever the community need
My Logic Pro keeps crashing!!!
One year later & I still want this sooo much.
I love your accent
It’s been a year already!
How depressing!
It’s gone fast!
God I hate these montages with loads of people saying the same thing. The point was made after the first 3, please stop wasting my time after that.
Come on now, it took longer for you to type this comment than the montage took to watch. You’re just wasting your own time at this point.
@@TheLogicProGuide Oh, I’m not denying that, and I’m sorry that yours just happened to be the straw that broke the camels’ back in this particular instance. I’m just so tired of seeing this trope everywhere, from Netflix documentaries, to comedy panel shows, to now, CZcamsrs.
I appreciate that that montage took time to find all the clips and edit together, but in an otherwise solid video, how much did all that effort really add? In my case, just irritation at having to sit through a montage trying to make a point that didn’t need to be made in the first place, and slightly less likelihood that I’ll click one of your videos in the future.
@@RufusWhitealright man well you didn’t have to act like this to get your point across, could’ve been nicer
Rufus you must be a hell of an important guy too stress over “ wasting “ four seconds. Just set yer alarm clock four seconds sooner tomorrow morning the you will get them back….well kinda.
talking about over dramatizing lol
Ok
idk man ifeel that logic for ipad is a big scam
A scam? How is it a scam?
