I wanted to make a party of a short rest (abilities are recharged during a short rest): a bard (Hope - heal for a short rest, or Lore), a monk, a warlock, and I haven't thought of who to take as the fourth for them yet -(
Double Warlock is great fun!
High Elf Wizard also gets something like that, to be precise it's:
Ancestry feature -> Trance: 4 hours of meditation are sufficient to rest.
Edit: plus on my Shock Arcanist Wizard I also see a class feature: Arcane Recovery -> Once per day when you complete a short rest, you can recover a number of expended spell slots (max 5th level) up to half your Wizard level, rounded up.
I've just started another run, after over a year of not playing Solasta, so I don't remember that, but maybe High Elf is fully recovered after the short rest due to its Trance ability, and if not, then at least you can recover quite a lot of slots via Arcane Recovery anyway
How about Mountaineer? Use shove advantage to knock enemies prone and give your monk advantage on his attacks, Tunnel Fighter is basically a free casting of Shield with no risk of losing concentration, and Action Surge and Second Wind both recover on short rest.

In general, a party without a mage?
A monk's abilities, like a warlock's, are recharged after a short rest. Can they have a bard as support?
Wizard/Sorcerers aren't really necessary, Battle Clerics are where the real OPness is at.
Warlocks can also work, especially as Tree Warlock adds both tanking + the cheesiest spell in the game to your spellbook anyways.
You can go with a Bard too, as they're extremely versatile, I'll soon release a guide for them!
And for what level of difficulty is a monk suitable, and what is the best party for him?
Monks can work up to Cataclysm due to their abilities, but early game Cataclysm will always be a pain random encounters wise, unless you have a team that can stack Spike Growths/Spirit Guardians.
Story battle at least you can get by just fine.
Ideally you'd have 1-2 Battle Cleric, and also a Warlock for pushing enemies into their doom.

Monks in Solasta don't suffer as much because you can scum roll until you get good stats. Without that, monks are the worst class in 5e. Though way of survival is... interesting.
Yep, through restrictive Point Buy you wouldn't be able to get decent scores in both DEX & WIS.
But at least it's nice that by default Monks can use DEX for damage and to hit chance of Unarmed attacks.
I played using standard array and it turn out fine. Basically, I use monk for stun and lighting up enemy to equalize the disadvantage in dim environment.
I just want to point out that the ONLY reason the Monk is viable in this game is because you can cheese to get good ability score rolls. It's a terrible class, and they didn't do anything to fix it in Solasta. Arguably, they made it even weaker than it is in table top.

is that new story dlc any good? fun to play? enjoyable? are there any good story mods avaliable?
I found the Palace of Ice DLC to be a lot better than the main campaign.
The story/characters were more entertaning, and the areas were definitely better looking.
Gameplay wise I also prefer it due to higher levels = more fun abilities/spells/class features to use, plus you find way better loot too!
